Basically, the guy is under a spell in which will only be broken when IU turns 20 (she is meant to be 19 in the MV). She couldn't wait another year, so she made a time machine to travel into the future so the curse will be broken. When they are both at the shop (in the future) they look awkwardly at each other, this is because they forgotten each others faces but at the end, they smile slowly because they start to remember each other. And the ending is for us to decide >D

Despite the explanations below, this MV still doesn't make too much sense to me... If anyone can answer my questions, that'd help a lot! 1) Why is the guy asleep? 2) Does she build the time machine to go in the future or in the past? 3) Why does she suddenly disappear at the end while the guy is still there? 4) If she has time-traveled and left him behind, why is he both standing there crying and in that shop (Assuming that those are in different time periods)?

I think what the mv is about a young girl who wanted to be the guy's wife or girlfriend but she is not mature and old enough to do so. In order to grow faster, she build a time machine to make her wish come true. The song tell us what she wish while the mv show her wish coming true...haha that my view and anyway I LOVE IU

can someone explain the plot to me? I know she does time travelling, but why exactly? First I thought she would want to travell to the futur to finde a cure for him or in the past in order to prevent him from an accedent which coursed the coma he is in know....but but after time travelling all she does is selling a clock to him...=( I really want to know wath's going on...

@ThePiccolissimaM She is peeking her future in advance. She has a special ability and builds a time machine but will hurt herself a little in doing so which she says that is ok. (That is what the lyrics say) I love IU and this MV is absolutely amazing!!!

I thought the video and the song were all about her making the transition into woman hood. In the beginning of the video she acts like a child but she dreams about being with the man. As she is now (a child) she cannot be with him . She builds a time machine so she can go to the future but as she matures (short hair and sophisticated clothes) she forgets her dreams and fantasies until she sees the man in the shop.

Basically, IU haven't met the guy yet (the guy is 'asleep', and does not know IU). IU can see the future of her with the guy, whom she will meet in the shop at the end (as seen in flashing images when she's on board the train). That's why she said she kinda peeked into the future, and now she's turning the time faster to the day she can meet him. And when she does, she hopes that the guy remembers her as the 'strange girl' who was always looking out/at him. :)
