  • I've been looking for a fill like this for ages, thank you very much. :D

  • i love playing this a little differently with double bass. it goes

snare, hi tom, low tom, hit tom, bass, bass , snare, hi tom, low tom, hit tom, bass, bass

except you keep doing that really fast

  • I like the way you show your tips. Nice and slow and simple. The other guys makes it seems so difficult. I learn a lot from you. Thanx Man.

  • good tutorials, great drumming, thank-you (:

  • i have the same snare skin atm lol

  • Sweet fill man, Bonham from Led Zeppelin does something very similar in Stairway To Heaven at 6:21 in the song.

  • These are Bonham's R'n'R outro fills. I use them a lot for the fun of it and yes - they're really cool yet simple and easy to learn. Thumbs up m8!

  • hey its real easy nothing to it you just gotta go GILDIDIDYDAYDBDBADAIDAODAIDSDADBDSDSSASPLOOSHGOGUNKAPSHHHH thats it real simple

  • at beginning it sounds funny..but it really cool man..awesome!!

  • ur ah beast

  • best drum teacher on youtube

  • Thanks for this great lesson, helped a lot!

However you make it look so goddamn easy, when it really isn't, haha.

  • ur the best drumm instrutor i seen on utube so far i have to subcribe

  • really cool. one question. when u finish a fill, do u hit the cymbal with the bass too? since a bass hit was just played

  • I am glad you are genuine...So many vids are with speed freaks full of themselves and they make me nervous and un interested. I will check in to more of your stuff...thanks for being a drummer about it all instead of a arrogant prick super star.

  • Handy to know this. I'm tryin to self-teach on this kit at school. I can use this...very useful, cos my fills are usually the basic of snare snare snare snare hi tom hi tom med tom med tom floor tom floor tom floor tom floor tom crash!

    THnx again.

  • enjoooooooooyyyy

  • thats the intro to eruption lol

  • Nice fills, thanks.

  • would you show how to play the fill in in 1:54 ?

  • @VfBFan82 its just 2 half notes one each tom in a 1 bar stanza

  • gotta love the fake double bass fills at the ends!

  • at what point is there fake double bass?

  • hmm is this the fill from stairway to heaven ? during the solo i swear john bonham does something similar

  • Its close to a Bonham sig lick. He was big on 3's not so much on 4's... so like RLK RLK, etc

  • subbed, im a rookie drummer myself, and these videos are helping me out a lot

  • great video man, realy cool stuff

  • also John Bonham did the same fill, as a 4 stroke ruff at the end of Rock N Roll. Cool time, too man. I hate it when drummers do fills but dont incorporate them into a groove.

  • nice fill

  • The most important thing for a drummer is to belong to an excellent original band that the babes love

  • thanks that is cool!!

  • Bonham does that a lot

  • yeah thats were i learned that fill from

  • True : )

  • Keith Moon did that all the time too. He would just randomly throw it in like everywhere lol

  • This is very cool

  • Van, some of these 'posers' are big a holes and probably can't even keep a beat. Keep posting because you have a lot of great ideas and we enjoy how you present them.

  • Hey van you rule do the fill from staind's song spleen if you feel like it .

  • Comment removed

  • youve got to be kidding

  • thanx man u came from above

  • Hey, great video! I've heard of this 'RLRF' fill called "Takin' A Dump", just because when you play it, it fits with saying "Takin' a dump". Just thought you might want to know. (:

  • You're videos are really helpful! Thanks

  • That fil is used at the end of Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll!

just to let you guys know! :L

  • I am the reproduction # 99 000 :D

  • 1:53 !!!!!!

  • ur sick man

  • Can you give a lesson about jazz fusion drum beats like billy cobham does ?

    that will be great, thanks!

  • K umm I get frusturated because I can play fast except for the bass drum i feel like i need a double bass but cant afford it do you have any ideas or videos on speeding up my bass kick

  • yea theres many beats you can do that will help you at the bass drum just as simple as playing" left and right hand, foot, foot" ... also some people play with their heel up and if you practice with your heel down it might give you more speed after a while of getting used to it.... i would only recommend buying a second bass drum if you mastered everything and you need something else to play on...

  • Time is your friend for this one, try some different pedal setups too.

  • If your goal is to play double bass drums, get double pedals as soon as possible, cause the sooner you learn to use your left leg the same as the right the better. Don't listen to people telling you to wait. That's like playing only with your right hand for a couple of years and then bringing your left hand into the mix, then trying to match them together.. It's just a bad way of going about it.

Get a double pedal. Steal one if you have to :P just get one.

  • i suggest you use heel toe technique, its easy if you have the right bass pedal, or small feet ^^_ my feet are a little big so i just stick to double kicks, but since they are big, i practice moving them faster like doing a double kick sounding bass just with my toe, idk how i do it i just do though, just practice mainly and you will get it ^^_

  • I got big feet too, but it works.

You gotta try again man, I can get some metal fills in with one foot, and I've only been playing for 3 months

  • yeah im getting there too... been playing for about 2 months myself, ^^_ i like to use both feet though more becuz i can cleanly play that ezily..

  • i got size 13s and a shitty factory pearl pedal but heel toe works fine. i just cant wear shoes.

  • i never wear shoes lol, i always wear just socks normally.

  • 1:54 - 1:57

    :O

  • Not even close. Not a 6 stroke roll. 4 notes. Watch the video again. RVP

    vanzdrumming com

  • i was speaking about the pattern before "RLRK"

  • I love you man!

  • There is a similar fill to this in smells like teen spirit -

floor tom - High tom - Bass drum - snare

  • One of my fav all time fills. Speed and execution is

awsome. RVP nails it, as usual.

  • cool

  • that the stairway to heaven fill isnt it

  • yea and the fill at the end of "rock and roll" also by zeppelin

  • Yeah! Except the stairway fill has triplets at the end of it...

  • Ive search since 3months to find this secret technique... brilliant, thanks

  • great vids.

    very helpfull

    subscribing

  • Yeah Seamusceagan i'm pretty sure Bonham highlighted his use of that technique in a small fill in Stairway to Heaven. Somewhere after 4 minutes in i believe.

  • why is it a 16 th triplet? isnt it ajust a 16th note fill?

  • travis barker always uses that one

  • i was just gonna say. first song i noticed it in was obvious off the self-titled.

  • i'm pretty sure john bonham used to use that alot

  • Yep, him and Peart alot as well

  • dude i love all your vids, keep them coming!

  • i try that it sounds awesome when ya speed it up :]

  • reli helpful thanks

  • a classic Bonham-fill, i play it all the time . Thanks for the great illustration
