the only episode I've seen that wasn't super mellow was I believe the second one (involving the eye mushi) the second eyelid thing is pretty disturbing, lol.
Also this show gave me the same feel as Hell Girl in the beginning, there was no main plot, simply a series of events that carried the viewer / reader
I never once skipped the intro, it's absolutely beautiful. In fact I found myself missing the song, during the couple of episodes that didn't have the OP.
That was a good review, but imo, I don't think the inro is borring. The song and the nature pictures fit very well and it breaks with the paradigm of the classic anime intro.
Telling people how many times a character appears in the series is kinda spoiling imo.
Liked the review, just not those parts. Cuz after the one time character appears, the viewers know that character will never be seen again. I don't know, just bothers me personally.
thank you so much, I feel very interested in watching this. I have a wide variety of what kind of animes I like to watch. Right now I am in the mood for something calm and slow. Afterwards to bed >_>.
Also thank you so much, if you did not say that there is a dubbed version, I would have believed it was only subbed, T_T I am not usually in the mood for sub.
Thanks for this video. It helped me decide to watch it. I generally like some action, but too much action bores me--and the most important thing is a good character/plot.
I'll keep an eye on your reviews. This was good. n_n
i happen to think that this is one of the most amazing anime's in the world. sure the jap version was better but the english dub wasn't too bad. I've seen like every episode like three times and they never get old. whenever i am in a terrible mood, this show seems to put me in a calming..wonderful mood. and its the fact that this show really makes me think. & i especially love it because its not the same as every other anime. bit tits and sword fighting. >.>
Got a question ._. Are there any animes like this one but with episodes that follow each other? It looks interesting and all but I don't really like how you said you can watch them in any order =\ kinda makes it seem that each episode is just like a oneshot type of thing :(
@TheGreedyAMV Hmmm well Mushishi is definitely one of a kind... haven't seen too many animes quite like it. But for recommendations sake, from what I've seen, I'd probably go with "Natsume Yuujinchou" which deals with spirits and the main character being able to see them and the mood is about the same with a bit more humor.
The other would be "Haibane Renmei." Not at all the same kind of plot, but it definitely has that 'patiently waiting for the mystery to unfold and reveal itself' quality. :)
@TheGreedyAMV I actually felt the same way when my friend told me about. However, don't let that keep you away from this anime, at least give it a try, it will surely surprise you in a good way
Yeah, I am one of those folks that gave this series a 10/10. Seeing your review has reminded me of just how awesome it is, so now I might go back and rewatch it! Though... might be better to finally take a crack at the manga, since it certainly goes further than the anime and is also awesome. Man, I'd love a second season of Mushishi. Anyways, welcome back! I'm looking forward to your next review.
I actually have a couple of friends who mostly watch Shounen and actually loved this series. I personally love it as well, definitivelly one of my all time favorite animes.
Each episode is a deep and wonderful story and feels like it's perfectly crafted, with no wasted lines nor wasted moments.
Well I've been convinced, hopefully Funimation actually releases it on Blu-Ray like they were planning on doing a while ago so I can see it in it's best quality =D. Wonderful review, glad to finally get to see another one ^_^! There's nothing wrong with slower shows, it's okay to use our brains when watching things =3 so I'm probably going to love it! Keep up the excellent work, the reviews are very well done!
@Jurtango Haaa~ Actually, I finally got WMM back on my comp like last night and so I threw this together in a hurry because I was so excited to get it working again.. and 'cuz I didn't wanna wait any longer.. XD;; It's kind of a shoddy job, but hopefully the next review will get me back in the swing of things! ^__^

It is anything like xxxHolic? I don't mind slow moving, but if it's TOO slow, then I'll pass.
