Absolutely AMAZING! From the recording that was 1 of 2 Sarah Vaughan albums that turned a then 18 year old me onto Jazz vocals, & even jazz instrumentalists eventually. It opened my ears to Michel Legrand's passionate compositions & the brilliant poetic lyrics of Alan & Marilyn Bergman. Life changing music, indeed. Thank you!
Sarah Vaughan sang this on the Jerry Lewis telethon in the early 70's, that was the first time I had heard of her. I rushed out and brought everything I could of hers. It was the beginning of a love affair that has lasted even past her death. She was the soundtrack of my life. Mad love I have for this woman. Okay Stephan, I don't know how you do it, but you never cease to amaze me. Props to you my friend.
I know that we all hope that this Mainstream recording will once again be at your local record store or online! Please let me know if there is a source to get the entire album. This is my fave Sassy album. I too bet her at Kansas University. She was so wonderful to me backstage. I kissed her hand and told her she was the greatest singer!
@damone77 I am so happy for you that you actually touched Sarah. One of the regrets of my life is when at the 'Blue Note' new York, I went backstage, was a step away from her, and did not touch her! I had been to her concerts in Rio, London, Paris, Nice, and when I stood actually so close to her ... Lobsang Lampa explained that one cannot "see" at mortal dimensions. When a mortal enters the immortal dimension then "seeing" is metaphysical. I was there with Sarah.
Romantic and true. I was into Sarah Vaughan as a teenager. I remember talking about her with a friend of my dad. We both had exactly the same fantasy: coming across her on the street and giving her a kiss. The last time she went to Brazil I went to see her. I was 17 at most. At the end of the concert I went to the edge of the stage, like a few others. She came to me and shook my hand. I remeber it very clearly. She was a wonderful, wonderful singer.
I saw Sarah Vaughan do this live on the Jerry Lewis Telethon while I was waiting for this album to arrive. It was actually the first album that I bought from her, after that, I couldn't get enough of her. I bought everything I could find.

Check out the info box next to the screen. There's a link to Amazon where you can buy it on CD, unless I'm mistaken.
