mrswozzle 'this guy' was singing much better than amy winehouse at a similar age and writing amazing lyrics, recognised by many as some of the best poetry of the last century, listen to something like big lousie and try to argue then that he can't write lyrics. many 'intellectuals' within the world of music rate him highly, insist he is way ahead of his time, so maybe you should cry because you are unable to make sense of something rather than just insist it does not make sense, shame on you.
this guy has serious problmes! At least Amy Winehouse could sing. Sounds as if this guy is about to cry because someone threw all his toys away! Maybe he should cry because he can't write decent lyrics!
@mrswozzle Ok, so you don't it - thats fine. You should check his whole body of work to put this song and the LP it's from in context. I think you will get more out of it. This is great stuff - but it's not a "Happy Meal"!
To those geniuses such as Scott Walker, or Buckethead, i'd like to say: Ok guys, stay at home, don't meet anyone if you wish but PLEASE, share your music, even what you're unsure about IS great... you goddam perfectionnists ;) - please, share the passion!
While I don't have all to much sympathy towards Scott Walkers early works, I do recognize 'tilt' and 'the drift' as great pieces of art - they even seem underrated to me.

What with the accompanying pic. Homie don't look right. Smile Scott, it could be worse. Oh, that's right, the sun aint gonna shine anymore. My bad.

I think he is terribly overrated. The Walker Brothers would never have been a success without John's and Gary's harmonies!

I had to listen to them when they were released . Big disappointment. But now they seem to perpetuate the individual genius of the man.

gary's harmonies ?? you having a laugh he didn't even play the drums on any of the records they made , he was just a mascot.
Listen to lines by the walker brothers and tell me that scott cannot do his own harmonies.
Scott took lead vocals cos he was by far the best singer.John acknowledges that.
