As to the mainstream artist debate, I think it's also a great time for lesser-known talents like Jesca because of the availability of their music/videos through this Internet thing. Of course, that also means having to wade through a bunch of shit they shove in your face but... I'm up for the challenge, especially when the payoff, like finding this music video and Jesca herself, is so rewarding. I think it's a great time to be a music lover.
This is a song that will forever be wed to the music video in my mind/heart. A great song/video on so many levels; love the storyteller in the desert (a story in and of itself) framing the story of the different characters/personas. Beautiful earthy colors, interesting costumes, great dancing, and a strong lyrical and visual narrative. Everyone involved did a fantastic job!
@GenocideAngel92 - It has more to do with the label's promotion of her music rather than how she looks or the style of music.. Besides, a vast majority of the mainstream female artists are solely promoted due to the fact that they sell sex, looks, social status and popular products over any talent they may seem to have.
@angelosammie - It is a sad time for artists like Jesca, who is a superb song-writer and immensely talented. These gifted artists now take a backseat to cookie-cutter pop starlets like 'Kesha', 'Lady Gaga', 'Nicki Minaj', 'Katy Perry', etc, etc.. as these girls have a few things in common- Their videos show LOTS of skin, bling, a lifestyle of material wealth, promiscuity and boisterous narcissism- the "me first" mentality which is destroying our culture & brainwashing kids buying into this crap.
@vamphiriwolf Imogen Heap's last album let me down a bit. Her lyrics just left me on the sidelines and had trouble captivating me unlike her first album did in 05. I saw her in Boston and she blurted out about one of her roadies not being there because his father died that weekend. Everyone in the crowd was like "why did she say that? that's not nice" words seem to be failing her a lot.
Wow. I take it there's no comments on here yet because everyone is left speechless? I think this video is brilliantly conveying the song with the image and this woman's natural raw talent as the centerpiece without an ego. Great track! Awesome video standing in a world of shallow glitz and post-humanist vocal stylists.
