  • great song choice

  • beautiful result. very nice!

  • someone know the name of the song ?

  • you should change the tittle to how not to make a 35mm DOF adapter

  • ihave made a 0 dollar one

  • wierdness, I thought it's Tom Waits on the screen but it was someone else but its his song on bg

  • i just dont get it whats the pint haveing that when you can use softwares to do that? can any one explain plz im just lost

  • @ALKUKES It's very difficult, even professionally, to fake a limited depth of field. The concept of the background and foreground being blurred out while the focus is distinctively on a specific distance could cost you hours in post rotoscoping and using a variety of variable blur effects.

  • @ALKUKES the problem is that the computer can't tell how deep your footage is. As far as most programs are concerned (with the exception of AE CS5) it's a flat image and any standard attempt to bring focus to the subject blurs out everything.

  • dust

  • It looks fantastic! Great choice of music too.

  • Could all of the rain and blemishes be removed in post?

  • I just made my own for under $11! I tried many things as focusing screens: wax paper, rice paper, plastic from folders, but your plastic bad idea works the best! Thanks!

  • Great look.

  • how did you get the image right side up?

  • you do that in post production. or if you built a rig that has your camcorder hang upside down... then no changes needed! but either way, when you shoot, the image will be upside down on the lcd. so you can use an external monitor and flip it upside down.

  • tape a mirror over the LCD screen so you can see your composition the right way up when shooting

  • I don't understand this technique. Do you have any pictures?

  • Nice for the price! I think if you use a focusing screen you will have less vignetting.

  • Yes, I agree. Next time, I'll be using it. Thanks.

  • i didnt mean to press that!

  • Me to I hope u can make a how to on this adapter.

  • Sorry, I haven't got to it...

It's basically same as the user name "drjassvideo"'s technique. Do a youtube search under "How to build a static 35mm adapter".

Instead of using an extension tube, I am using plumbing adapters from a local hardware store. And, instead of a plastic folder, I am using a grocery bag. I hope that helps.

  • any update on when we can see or read a "how to" on this?

  • this is sweet man.. hope u can make that how to... nice work!

  • yes please make a how to! i am planning on making my own dof adapter for cheap and this wil help me ALoT!

  • What camera did you use? Do you have a how to video on how you put this adapter together. I think this looks amazing. For so cheap?

  • I used CANON IXY DV2. I'll try to make a 'how to' video when I get a chance. Thanks.

  • Looks good! :) although the lens or GG looks a bit dirty to me, and it seems u have the 'Wet paper look', that might be dissapear by letting the ground glass vibrate or rotate quickly? Or is it the youtube compression?

  • Yeah, my "Ikea plastic bag filter" was really dirty. Next time, I'll cutout a cleaner area. And, yes, a vibrator or a rotator will make it better. But, I'm trying to find the cheapest way to do this. Thanks for the comment!
