Unlike our current space station that floats in the space, the station in the video is connected to the earth with the carbon nanotube... and to hold the nanotube cable tight you will need that centripetal force anyway. The "gravity" is just a by-product of that force. Imagine you swing a water barrel vertically, the water won't spill out and it experiences a "gravity".

In other words you can be a white person born in China and technically you are a Chinese citizen which makes you Chinese regardless of Chinese descent. A lot of people think Americans are only white people and that isn't true and same goes as for other countries.
