my CVR(T) has a 6 cyclinder engine at 4.2 liters and gets 12 mpg,but then it DOES wight 8 and a 1/2 tons.. so doing the maths it works out that if MY CVR(T) wighed in as the same as your jeep(and it goes places your jeep wouls wet it's pants trying to do) it does BETTER MPG then your old jeep!

I saw a recent episode of Modern Marvels or similar where the fuel consumption of a loaded 18 wheeler is about 5 mpg. 5 mpg for a loaded Semi delivering goods across the country vs. 10 mpg for (most often) one person to drive to work or to the shopping mall. HUGE difference.
Hey I'm all for the OTR drivers. I love some SUV's and Trucks too, my 95 F-150 4x4, 16 mpg. One guy said he has a reason for the SUV, but he didn't see any reason why people without a reason have them. I feel the same way.
It's satire... But, how many distracted soccer moms or dads or people with huge egos drive F-350s? Someone that drives an F-350 probably has good reason, work, etc. and likely has a clue that the thing is huge and drives accordingly. There are always exceptions of course.
Gas mileage, for me, doesn't seem to be the main issue with SUVs. Although, it is a big issue. The problem I see is that MOST SUV & truck (non-semi) drivers don't drive them as such. Not caring how they affect other drivers on the road. They drive them like sports cars, forgetting that mass x velocity =force. As long as SUV drivers are safe who cares if they obliterate the other driver in a minor traffic collision. The whole thing is SELFISH.

However, I drive an Envoy and have my reasons. Truck platform to accommodate heavy loads and towing. And, higher step in, making it easier for my grandparents to get in and out of it. But, regular commutes are done with my Civic.
Both Civic and Envoy are safe because I drive safely: smooth, easy, and courteously.

I average about 20 MPG in a GMC Envoy. That's not bad for an SUV (though not the best), especially since my previous car, a 1993 Ford Taurus, averaged about 19 MPG, and that's supposed to be a mid-sized sedan (or saloon).
An old 1990 Chevy Suburban we used to have achieved about the same, also not bad for a large truck.
Ergo, I'm forced to disagree with your 8 MPG estimate on SUVs unless you drive HARD with a lead foot, which isn't an appropriate way to drive on public roadways anyways.
Oh yeah, coz that happens ALL the time, like you know, the other day my mom had this huge accident, and the week before my uncle was just like sitting at the lights and the BAM! And you know I was nearly blah blah blah...

Haha, great video! I have a Jeep Cherokee, I get about 15-18mpg average. I have a bumper sticker that says "I bought a Jeep because you bought a Hybrid, now we're even." I get so many dirty looks and even got the finger a couple times, I just look at them and laugh.

Im surprised tho, that the liberals that decided to make this, decided to use Ford's now discontinued Excursion, rather than GM's largly more publiced Hummer brand. Come on... Big Rigs serve a different and far more necessary purpose.
I saw a recent episode of Modern Marvels or similar where the fuel consumption of a loaded 18 wheeler is about 5 mpg. 5 mpg for a loaded Semi delivering goods across the country vs. 10 mpg for (most often) one person to drive to work or to the shopping mall. HUGE difference.
Besides, OTR drivers are trained...

Hey I'm all for the OTR drivers. I love some SUV's and Trucks too, my 95 F-150 4x4, 16 mpg. One guy said he has a reason for the SUV, but he didn't see any reason why people without a reason have them. I feel the same way.

Gas mileage, for me, doesn't seem to be the main issue with SUVs. Although, it is a big issue. The problem I see is that MOST SUV & truck (non-semi) drivers don't drive them as such. Not caring how they affect other drivers on the road. They drive them like sports cars, forgetting that mass x velocity =force. As long as SUV drivers are safe who cares if they obliterate the other driver in a minor traffic collision. The whole thing is SELFISH.

I wonder about people who have an SUV when they don't need one. But, I have no right to interfere with another person's freedom of choice.
However, I drive an Envoy and have my reasons. Truck platform to accommodate heavy loads and towing. And, higher step in, making it easier for my grandparents to get in and out of it. But, regular commutes are done with my Civic.
Both Civic and Envoy are safe because I drive safely: smooth, easy, and courteously.

I average about 20 MPG in a GMC Envoy. That's not bad for an SUV (though not the best), especially since my previous car, a 1993 Ford Taurus, averaged about 19 MPG, and that's supposed to be a mid-sized sedan (or saloon).
An old 1990 Chevy Suburban we used to have achieved about the same, also not bad for a large truck.
Ergo, I'm forced to disagree with your 8 MPG estimate on SUVs unless you drive HARD with a lead foot, which isn't an appropriate way to drive on public roadways anyways.
