@appleglory I'm not sure. If an MMA guy had the TKD guy within punching distance or on the ground or pinned against the wall the TKD guy wouldn't stand a chance. But they can really kick hard (as you saw here) and from quite a range, so I think before the MMA guy could get close he'd be knocked out.

i fight inside URCC and faced a taekwondo black belt and took his kicks in the face.... didnt knock me out.. but hell it was painful though and made my head turn for a couple of seconds....if i can remember it was a double tornado kick that hit me....
@Jermaximum I have actually trained with this man. I'll admit i'm not the biggest guy in the world, but he kicked a paddle i was holding...gently, and my shoulder ached for about 10 mins. I am fairly certain that kick would knock out anything with a skull less than 4 inches thick.

Taekwondo is not an effective fighting style. If you play by the rules of Taekwondo, yeah, those fighters would kick my ass. But if you put me on the street with them, as a run of the mill Muay Thai practioner, I have a huge advantage over them, just as an experienced street fighter or MMA practioner would have a huge advantage over me. It's all about the rules of the fight. These fighters are brilliant at playing by one set of rules, but they're not at all applicable to real life.

So you've got one chance to stop them while they're rushing in. Can you guarantee a knockout or knock down of a rapidly moving fighter that likely has his hands up, every time? I didn't think so. You're also assuming there is only one fighter, that you're ready for them rushing in, and that the fight didn't start CQC (as most fights would).

I saw that spinning hook kick coming a mile away he shifited the mojority of his weight on to his front leg whilst springing of his back let leg for quite some time normally you could see that coming if you cautious of your opponents footwork but i only saw it coming because a spectator can see more from the side lines but he seemed prediminantly focused on scoring points unluky i guess in heat you tend to miss these things

I've been getting mathematics on my school since I was 4 years old, but i still suck big time at it.. just because you do something every day doesn't mean you're better than anyone. @GROGOLOG the world TKD champion used to be an austrailian dude, an amazing fighter. Just because a martial art originated from a certain place doesn't mean they're the best at it. Look at b jiu jutsu, The Gracies who have created it have been defeated in their own martial art by an MMA fighter. There are countless other examples too.
Taekwondo hones speed and power in striking, stamina, and fighting instinct. I'm a practitioner, and I know from experience that when out there fightiing, the two minute rounds are mostly spent looking to avoid and deliver hits.
MMA as seen in UFC relies on a balance of striking and submissions. Technique should be important but it is often neglected for physical conditioning and brute force. Depending on who you face in the octagon, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

So you've got one chance to stop them while they're rushing in. Can you guarantee a knockout or knock down of a rapidly moving fighter that likely has his hands up, every time? I didn't think so. You're also assuming there is only one fighter, that you're ready for them rushing in, and that the fight didn't start CQC (as most fights would).

yeah maybe Taekwondo isn't as brutal as mma or boxing however you cannot use your arms to defend which gives you this feeling of helplessness.. Taekwondo is not for the feint of heart.

I saw that spinning hook kick coming a mile away he shifited the mojority of his weight on to his front leg whilst springing of his back let leg for quite some time normally you could see that coming if you cautious of your opponents footwork but i only saw it coming because a spectator can see more from the side lines but he seemed prediminantly focused on scoring points unluky i guess in heat you tend to miss these things

@MiddleChief no, in korea tae kwon do is a national sport that every1 must do at school. they start it at amuch younger age and train more like how they did when it started out, military style, this means naturally that nearly all korean tae kwon doers are really good. and do you even do tae kwon do?

@GROGOLOG no, i don't do tae kwon do, but that doesn't say much does it. But again your theory is simply not right. I've been getting mathematics on my school since I was 4 years old, but i still suck big time at it.. just because you do something every day doesn't mean you're better than anyone. A european fighter that is learning tae kwon do can sometimes learn it 10x as fast as an korean guy who sucks at sport. And again: The country you come from doenst have anything to do with your skills.

@MiddleChief i actually would have to agree wiith GROGOLOG, the koreans are just naturally good at the sport. when you watch a non-korean do taekwondo moves, they dont have the same fluidity as a korean. i practice taekwondo and during training, i can really tell the difference between a korean and non korean kick. although im proud to say that ill be going to a taekwondo seminar and training with the korean in this video =D

@MiddleChief yeah thats true but the korean work at it soo much, they train for like 5-6 hours a day everyday if they are studying it in uni. but if the european guy grew up in korean then maybe thats a different matter

@5r5d5c5v5g5t5f ye thats my main point, the koreans train so diligently when they are focused on tae kwon do, im not saying that anyone else cant be as good, my intructor for example, im a good sparrer and ive never landed a hit on her :L, but korea probably pumps out the most good fighters than anywhere else

@GROGOLOG the world TKD champion used to be an austrailian dude, an amazing fighter. Just because a martial art originated from a certain place doesn't mean they're the best at it. Look at b jiu jutsu, The Gracies who have created it have been defeated in their own martial art by an MMA fighter. There are countless other examples too.

Taekwondo hones speed and power in striking, stamina, and fighting instinct. I'm a practitioner, and I know from experience that when out there fightiing, the two minute rounds are mostly spent looking to avoid and deliver hits.
MMA as seen in UFC relies on a balance of striking and submissions. Technique should be important but it is often neglected for physical conditioning and brute force. Depending on who you face in the octagon, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.
