I believe that all the alterations done to this song from Elaine Paiges' original version have been crap. But this is the first one i've heard that is actually amazing. I love how it is a 'younger' voice from Elaine Paige's voice, evern though Grizabella is meant to be old, i think whoever this singer is has one of the most beautiful and powerful songs i have ever heard. well done

@xmizxdictatorx There are two ways of playing Grizabella, down-trodden and pathetic (Elaine) or fighting and courageous (Betty). This young lady opted for the never give up attitude. I have sort of lived some of Grizabella's feelings and really appreciate this performance. OK, the make-up is dreadful, but not too bad for a high school production. This isn't Broadway.
Jeanette's voice is simply wonderful. The emotion will come as she matures. I hope she goes far.

Elaine Paige is among the very top category women of the time when this show started! Stop comparing professionally seasoned performers to younger beginners of this VERY difficult level. I thought she did a nice job.

However, something that a lot of singers don't understand about theatre musicals is that, while proper vocals are important, acting is much, MUCH more important.
The singer here does have the vocals down pretty well, but I don't get any sense of the character from her voice. That's something that needs to be worked on.
I said that is true what you told about the importance of a right acting, so I think that if an actor can´t sing well in a MUSICAL, he/she sucks. In this kind of theatre, singing skill is much more important than acting. That´s my opinion ;)

Are you just parroting phrases you hear actual singers use? "Vibrato you could drive a truck through?" Please. Her singing sounds free and the vibrato actually sound natural and properly produced, unlike the majority of warblers who fake those complicated sound spectrums.

Her voice is absolutely lovely. The interpretation could have been more "painful," it would have brought more meaning to the performance if she had sounded a little more tormented or mounrnful. But it was still very good.

she had lovely voice and some decent acting I agree. Some of that gone and she more ore less retired to show her horses in Texas. We even joined her when she sang for her Guru. She just isn't person we hoped for in her. It saddened us.

when you do musicals you have to order the music and if they owners of the play scripts don't like giveing out originals..like the right lyrics..then they don't so most of the time there wrong

People can be way too critical of high school performances. I was in my high school drama club and we all worked very hard on our shows and most of the time the directors were teachers who wer enot being paid extra for working on the show which means that they were volunteers.
Bland...that was like bad meatloaf. I mean she's ok, but not for this. I know she may not have been in control of the make-up, but you should have hired someone better. She went flat A LOT, and her vibrato is out of control...good effort, I guess.

she had lovely voice and some decent acting I agree. Some of that gone and she more ore less retired to show her horses in Texas. We even joined her when she sang for her Guru. She just isn't person we hoped for in her. It saddened us.

when you do musicals you have to order the music and if they owners of the play scripts don't like giveing out originals..like the right lyrics..then they don't so most of the time there wrong

People can be way too critical of high school performances. I was in my high school drama club and we all worked very hard on our shows and most of the time the directors were teachers who wer enot being paid extra for working on the show which means that they were volunteers.

Bland...that was like bad meatloaf. I mean she's ok, but not for this. I know she may not have been in control of the make-up, but you should have hired someone better. She went flat A LOT, and her vibrato is out of control...good effort, I guess.

I guess you missed the part where I said "good effort." People keep playing this "high school" thing...there are kids younger than her with more skill. Posting vids for everyone to see leaves room for public criticism, I don't think I was out of line.
