  • F-104 Starfighters! Sweet!

  • Geeze they used a LOT of eyeshadow back then. The stuff on McCoy makes me laugh.

  • I'll never buy anything from these ads because of their rude volume

  • Its always bothered me that this episode has a monstrous gaping hole in the special effects. Towards the end, they leave earth heading for the sun. What do we see, other stars going by and no Sun in sight. That's completely illogical. If we can see the sun from earth, then the sun would always be visible on a trip from the earth to the sun. And since the sun is a lot closer than the nearest star, we would not see other stars going by. Are you smarter than a 5th grader?

  • At 32:00 Captain Kirk is interrogated by Officer Kirk!

This actor had a recurring role on Happy Days as Officer Kirk an arch nemesis to The Fonz.

  • ...I never have believed in little green men.

Neither have I~~ says the LARGE, technically green man xD oooh the irony~

  • Plays like a replay of the 1948 Captain Charles Mantell Kentucky UFO incident. The UFO was huge, like the Enterprise. Mantell's body was never found, and no trace of him in the plane wreckage. The wreckage was pitted with many small holes, inexplicably.

  • Why didn't just gas him and beam him down on the planet. Why even let him leave the transporter room?

  • @TRENZ2 We know that now, only because we've seen this episode but here, Kirk is playing it loose shooting from the hip livin in the moment. He's never had this experiece before so he doesn't think about it.

  • i luv this episode!!! its TOO HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!

  • 22nd century velcro!!!!

  • i like this one its great show

  • I love how it doesn't even occur to Kirk that he's altering the time line by telling this random guy all about the future.

    What a moron.

Who said Kirk's better than Picard?

(Don't write me angry letters- I'm fully aware it's all in good fun.)

    ;-)

  • "Computed, dear"

    XD

  • This is the worst episode ever. Michael Bay has directed better stories.

  • Ironic that continuity is the principle thing that ruins a time travel episode. How does a starship that 'warps' across the galaxy normally, finds itself encoutering a 'black star'? You think you'd have charted anything dangerous like that before you had a warp drive? And all the other exotic things that violate physics, beaming two object together and nothing happened? How did the chase get resolved? And how can Capt. Christopher's return change history? It could have been explained better.

  • 3:05 can definitely see the leutenient's underwear, haha

  • I love how Kirk has all the same sort of flirtatious gestures towards Capt. John that he normally does with a woman.

Dame of the Hour has been replaced with Dan of the Hour.

  • Has anyone noticed, how Spock often, and has no problem with, touching Uhura? He often grabs her by the arms, helping her up, yet not even when Kirk is down, does he help him. It looks like Star Trek 2009 did not just make up the Uhura/Spock relationship - it was sort of there the whole time!

    How romantic! :)

  • @FangedFashionista Yes, but I have yet to see emotional reactions triggered by Uhura in TOS. Touching is a very sensitive thing for a Vulcan, yes, but showing emotion is an even bigger deal. Kirk can get an emotional/human response from Spock quite often (however, not with out a bit of work).

Also, I haven't seen really a time where Spock was hesitent to grab a hold of Kirk when need be.

I think there is a posibility, but Abrams did strech it. Scotty/Uhura is more canon than Spock/Uhura.

  • @AmSay8D Correct.

But I think It's something deeper for Kirk/Spock. He's not a "lover," to him. He's a brother. I deem it unfortunate that everytime someone shows any affection, whether it's sibling love, friendship love, or real love, that people have to turn it into something inappropriate.

  • @FangedFashionista True, but I do not think, of all the lovely ladies that Uhura is the one for Spock. I don't really believe he is like, in "sexy times" love with Kirk, but I do not find the Spock/Uhura relationship to be canon either.

    But I'm a Christine lover, so I am a bit biased! <3

  • @AmSay8D I love Christene too!

She's been there the whole time, secretly taking care of Spock (As shown when Spock is going into Pon Farr) and nobody except maybe Doctor McCoy and kirk have seen the chemestry there! I'm not a big fan of Uhura/Spock either (probably due to the fact that whenever Spock does the slightest thing (like raising an eyebrow) it sends my heart into a race of GooGoo love! :D

  • Now I can see why temporal prime directive was created.

  • Why is it that when they are going back in time, in an effort to get back to the future, only the ship's clock is going in reverse? If the ship's clock is going in reverse in response to backward time travel, wouldn't the contents of the ship including the crew, also go in reverse. Maybe time travel only targets clocks for this kind of response.

I love this episode, but there are some major holes in it. I just kind of over look them, and enjoy the show

  • i agree w/ the meatball spock haz the coolest eyebrows when raised!!!!!!!! I <3 SPOCK

  • 4:57 *zoom* .......What?

  • In Requiem For Methuselah, Spock employs a type of head clamp on Kirk, who was distraught over the death of his android flame. Spock urges Kirk to "forget". I wonder why that power wasn't deployed here to make the Air Force captain forget. I guess it would have gutted the episode.

  • I have seen this episode many times. I am a Trekkie from way back and I believe the origina series is the best in its own respect. Anyone else agree, send me a comment, let me know how ya feel about star Trek. l

  • I never get tired of watching Uhuru flail about.

  • @buccaneer43207 Ok, thanks for the info, my mistake, my point still stands though. It still proves that the Enterprise wouldn't re-enter Earth's atmosphere simply because it was visible to the people on the ground.

  • 3:05 Uhura's butt. Nice.

  • Kirk was so smooth when he took down Captain Christopher

  • Kind of an irony seeing that Spock, a Vulcan/Human half-breed being the one recalling Human history to humans!

  • If the enterprise got low enough in the atmosphere to be seen it would plummet to earth! Its gigantic space ship, not designed to enter the atmosphere.

  • @ItsMrFloyd The ISS can be viewed by the naked eye at times, and it is only about 1/100th the size of the Enterprise.

  • @ItsMrFloyd What atr you now? A rocket scientist? If anything interesting to say, it would be unusaul.

  • leonard nimoy sounds like he had a cold when this episode was filmed. the same for a few other episodes

  • - aren't you supposed to work on your time warp calculations?!"

    - I am

    - (doesn't know what to say)

  • Ed Peck plays Col. Fellini. He was also the FBI Agent in WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

  • 12:00 Kirk is win XD

  • The volume of the advertisements is waaaaay too loud compared the the volume of the episodes.

  • @toecutter the adds don't pop up when you're using firefox.

  • @lavaheadlvr1369 I do have firefox. Are you using some pop-up blocker??

  • @toecutter i don't know. I just got the new forefox and i haven't seen any adds.

  • @ 26:00

And now we know how Velcro was invented, like transparent aluminum, it was brought back from the future :D

  • Majelberet is historical in this episode. "Computed Dear". LOL

  • Majelberet is hysterical in this episode. "Computed Dear". LOL

  • Damn, they don't make special effects like that anymore.

  • Lets do the time warp again~!!

  • One of the things that most impressed me about Kirk was the slick Jiu-jitsu moves he would utilize during fight scenes.

  • Lol at 45:08, for someone from the past, and doesn't know jack about starships, he knows right where the communications switch is on the transporter controls...lol

  • @CoryPurcell. It's called being observant, it's fun. You might try it some time.

  • @BondFreek calm down, its just a tv show...

  • @CoryPurcell. You think I was angry? You have not seen anger kid. I hat disrespecting kids telling me to "calm down" especially when I'm not angry. That DOES make me very ANGRY! "calm down" What is that? The Im right but dont hurt me quiver? Grow up!

  • @BondFreek and btw I was being observant.. maybe you should take your own advice.

  • @CoryPurcell. If you were being observant you would have noticed that Captain Christopher was observing everyone from the moment he first arrived to the point of departure. Plus Uhura showed Captain Christopher the bridge and how her station worked. Top quote Sherlock Holmes "You see but you do not observe."

  • @BondFreek Quotation is a serviceable substitute for wit...fuck you!

  • @CoryPurcell So did Bele and Lokai in Let That Be Your Last Battlefield. When they wanted off the ship at the planet Charon to continue their blood feud, they simply ran up to the transporter and operated it! The magic of television.

  • Computer: "Computed and recorded, dear."

Kirk: "Computer, you will not address me in that manner. Compute."

    Computer: "Computed... dear."

    LOL, awkward, much?

  • Great new book (Did these stories really happen?) has Shatner dedication! Book at amazon!

  • OMG!!

"I am a little green man from alpha cenchury"

    HGTTG FTW!

Kirk: "your starting to sound like Mr. Spock"

McCoy: "if you are going to get nasty I'll leave"

  • OMG!!

"I am a little green man from alpha cenchury"

    HGTTG FTW!

Kirk: "your starting to sound like Mr. Spock"

McCoy: "if you are going to get nasty I'll leave"

  • Only Shatner would throw his whole body as an attack move (referring to the fight scene) lol

  • @bcdizzle012. If it works, who cares?

  • I keep thinking Major Nelson is going to get beamed aboard before Jeanie has to clean up the whole mess by blinking them all back where they belong.

  • @Elfinesmom LOL :-D

  • @Elfinesmom Awesome. Best crossover idea ever. :D

  • Also back in the 60's the black box's didn't have images, only audio and some basic recoding of time frames and cockpit settings, so there no way images were recorded inside the blacknoxes..but then again, what the hell am I doing using my brain power on this silly subject...excuse me, while I go outside and get a life

  • SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THIS: How does the military have photographs of the Enterprise? They can't be from a black box on Christopher's airplane because the tractor bream COMPLETELY broke up the aircraft.

Could Christopher's 1960s plane send pictures back to base? Remember this is a time before the internet.

  • @AmbassadorHodin. In the 1960's there was no digital photography. The Air Force found the black box and the camera. The plane was broken up not obliterated. I hope this helps you.

  • @BondFreek Thank you so much. Now I just need someone to explain the crazy ending. The ending is almost as confusing as The Alternative Factor.

  • @AmbassadorHodin It makes no sense that Capt. Christopher and the other guy could be simply beamed back into their own bodies. All the teleporter does is move things; and since the two men's original/past bodies were still there they wouldn't be teleported into them, they would simply be teleported there to coexist along with them i.e. there would be two Capt. Christophers, because both of his bodies (past and present) still exist.

  • @AmbassadorHodin It makes no sense that when they beam Cap. Christopher back into himself that the Enterprise would no longer be there in the sky. That event never changed, so the Enterprise would still be there in the sky, Cap. Christopher would be beamed aboard the Enterprise again and an infinite loop of events would be set into motion where the Cap. would see the Enterprise, be beamed aboard, be returned to his plane, see the Enterprise (again), be beamed aboard (again) and so on and so on

  • @AmbassadorHodin. That same physicist explained that to me as well. The Enterprise can't be in two places at once. Now that the Enterprise is flying past that part the first Enterprise is not there. It's as if it never happened. You see because the enterprise can't be in earths atmosphere and at the same time wiping around the solar system at high warp. The causality loop was broken.

  • How can someone even worry about something so stupid.

    ITS A TV SHOW!

  • Uhura panty shot at 3:06, some white popping out of that red

  • Uhura panty shot at 3:06, white poking out of the red

  • One thing I've never understood is the ending. So, is the theory of time travel in this episode that if you time travel before an event occurs in your life, you have no memory of that event?

  • bobm174, remember the players that lost memory of the event were not time travelers until transported and only lost memory of the event after placed back before the transport.

  • @TubeMandreke - can you repost this episode? It gets locked up in parts 2 and 3...thanks for all the uploading!

  • What are the chances they end up on Earth in the '60's??

  • @otdtyh Ahem. Sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I love Star Trek. I also love how many times to go back to the 60s. :p

  • Comment removed

  • There was a short lived series that my local channel often used to replace Star Trek when ever their afternoon movie ran long. It was called "UFO's". One of their episodes openend almost Identical to this episode. As you can emagin I would miss this episode most of the time thinknig it was "UFO's".

  • I must admit I was rather impressed with the fight scene. And may I say that Spock's eyebrow raises make me happy on all sorts of levels of fangirlishness? :D

  • They make me giggly too ^___^

  • @CabinBoyMeatball

fangirlishness? never heard that one before. lol

  • @paveltul Ah, yes, it's a word rather akin to "squee." :D

  • I find it hard to believe that they just happen to land on Earth

  • It would've made more sense for them to travel to the Vulcan homeplanet or something, rather than visit past Earth...

  • That would be kind of cool to see Vulcan during what would be 1960s earth

  • Does Kirk have the need to throw himself at someone in every single battle?

  • At least he fights -unlike Picard who hides in the Holodeck or behind Riker's skirt.

  • @landline00 People say that Picard is better than Kirk, but didn't Kirk save Picard's life? He fights, partially perfected the drop-kick, and made flying short distances at others look fun.

What did Picard give me? The need to shout out "PICARD!" whenever I watch X-Men

  • @HetaliaNerd I see we are on the same page when it comes to Trek.

  • Indeed. Kirk is far superior, especially with the ladies. ;)

  • @Kirok Even Data had a better relationship with women then Picard.

  • @Kirok Kirk's definitely hotter too

  • @HetaliaNerd now now don't dis picard....he fights too, especially with a sword. i also think that his grasp of ship to ship battle tatics and diplomacy is better than kirks......however, kirk is still to me the one true captian of the enterprise

  • @HetaliaNerd they are equals but in my opinion the best captain of the enterprise has been captain pike ....if you watch the menagerie hes clearly smarter than kirk and about as tough and hes also very wise. But what makes him truly great is he sacrificed his life and ended up handicapped to save the lives of his crew

  • Fun

  • Damn... Uhura looks sooo hot with her hair all tousled!

  • ah...the days of the the F104 starfighter

  • Spock was a total ninja in this episode

    Gotta love him

  • OMG, when Spock beamed down I thought he was going to be dissected and locked in a bottle! Poor baby, I would have been pissed.

Now a days though, if someone saw someone with just some long ears and funky eyebrows, they'd just figure they were from California.

  • I'd be more likely to assume he was from one of the southern states, some mutant spawned from the vast number of incestuous couplings that go on down there.

  • Mr. Spock, the original multi-tasker!!!

  • I love this episode

  • Anyone notice Kirk checking out the airforce guy at about 7:45 through 7:50?

    Whooa.

  • @mccoybrows And he does that even in the presence of Ms Uhura. Airforce guy over Uhura? Blasphemy!!!

  • At 3:05 you clearly see Ohura's underwear. I can't believe that made it into the show!

  • LOL WUT

  • I know it. Women in the USA did not really resist femininity then -- look at her -- she's not even wearing pants! It's just a long shirt. Females on 1980's - present Star Trek shows wear pant suits. It's great that they've taken steps toward equality, but pant-less attire on hot girls should be brought back.

  • One of the favorite shows.

Anyone remember playing Star Trek: The Arcade Game and hearing Spock say "Welcome Aboard Captain." when a game starts?

  • 31:03 reminds me of a WWF/WWE move. i also like the air force major playing dead/hurt at 31:30 from a foward roll and then grabbing kirk.

  • if beaming people back in time puts them right back in their original bodies, in the moment there were in... how come they werent all nonexistent sparkles in the eyes of their non existent parents?

in reality, wouldnt the two 1960s earth men just be standing next to their past selves?

  • vote fav star trek character (shows & movies)- my fav is either spock or scotty

  • 38:38

    owned.

  • Note to self: when abducted by aliens onto their spaceship I will also ask for chicken soup.

  • They should have made an episode about the computer hijacking the ship. That had potential. Or perhaps they did. I don't know yet.

  • Spock isn't that weird looking quite Hot if you ask me

  • Everybody knows Spock is hot. Any straight girl knows that. If they say he isn't, they're lying through their teeth!

  • @PrudenceNumberNine Heck, I'd even go straight for Spock XD

  • Cold War. Good times. And yes, Uhura's panties...

  • I love their blue-tooth headsets!

  • I see London, I see France, I see Uhura's underpants

  • Kirk is so damned adorable in this episode.

  • Towards the end when they are "breaking away" you can see the wire for a moment, lol

  • Yep...I used to watch this show ALL the time as a kid, and never really noticed how bad the sets and effects were...But, I still love the show! look at the screens above the control panels on the bridge in the beginning. They're transparent wrapping paper just pasted in place with the image projected from the other side. When I first saw Galaxy Quest's opening TV scenes, I thought they over did the hamming it up...but after watching several episodes, they were right on the money! hehehe...

  • lmao, I never noticed it until now. The lighting gives the wrinkle effects in the the paper away when the lights are off.

  • I thought I'd seen all these episodes a hundred times over but never saw this one! What are the odds of that? I mean really people...

  • Beam me up Scotty!

  • Looks like a re-telling of the 1948 Cpt. Mantell incident over Godman Field, in Kentucky, in 1948. Some UFOs miy well be future Earth Ships.

  • 25:25 lol you just got owned!

  • Beam me up scotty!

  • I was scared when their engines were buckling.

I never had an engine buckle.

  • I don't understand Captain Christopher's helmet strap is off then on then off.

  • As a long term Trekkie, I rate this one as a 7. Shatner was a ham, but to bring this episode off, he had to be one!

  • Try telemEtry, it's elemEntry, bonehead!

  • I guess there are a lot of "Bonheads" here, because I've never heard it pronounced the way you have it written... Also, I spell checked it, and it said it was spelled "telemetry"

  • I mean boneheads...

  • hehehehe...

  • At 7:50, Kirk looks like he's undressing Captain Christopher with his eyes. Really weird how Shatner plays this scene -- like he's got the hots for Christopher and is flirting with him.

  • Nah, I don't think that's the case at all. Oh, he is admiring what he's looking at, but it's NOT the man, I'm sure... Remember, Kirk admires vintage, or historic antiques. Imagine a military captain in the 23rd century looking at a 20th century military uniform, or space suit. I think he's more amused at it's lack of technical gadgets...

  • 35:00-43 PRICELESS!

"I'm gonna lock you up for 200 years." (Head Guard)

"That ought to be just about right." (Kirk)

    LOLL!

  • There's such a thing as nuclear tipped air to air missiles for jet fighters?

  • oh yeah.... they were made about the same time as 'rubber balistic nuclear bombs' for croud controll.

  • This is a classic, nothing better than something involving our planet and the Enterprise getting caught up in some kind of time warp.....I love it! I'm playing it twice. Gene should of done a couple of more like these.

  • i think there is another similar---with that guy who always held that black cat wherever he went...?

  • Your right, Teri Garr was in it, this guy she was working for/ known actor? was some kind of agent/good guy trying to correct some kind of problem with a rocket launch. I'm not certain what his mission was supposed to be.

  • LOL! Love this episode! Female personalized computers!! i also liked the people's reaction to Spock. X3

  • Lol I love it when Kirk just straight up dogpiles the 3 guards at once.

  • "Shouldn't you be working on your time warp calculations, Mr. Spock?"

    "I am."

    Love Spock!

  • Cheers to another classic episode of Star Trek and it's a great one in which the Enterprise arrived in 1967 earth. Jeers to another goddamn brooke shields ad thanks a lot bob hope.

  • that guy is having the time of his life with the chicken soup? lol,

  • Comment removed

  • the only thing is that it could change events leading to there birth and construction

  • wow, i love star trek, they are like,. better than most TV shows today, even when they look fake as hell..they are still better

  • i agree. effects aren't everything

  • But I thought "the Vulcan Science Directorate deemed that time travel was impossible".

Apparently they believe it by now. =)

    Spock, you rock.

  • even if they change the future in that time, it would not effect them, its kinda hard to explain

  • its because there is nothing to interfere with there life isnt written so it cant mess something up that has not happened yet

  • yeah, because if time travel is correct, you go to a different universe

  • how the hell did spock get outta that room?

  • "how the hell did spock get outta that room?"

    ---

Easy. He contacted the ship and was transported to a nearby room. Then "POOF! Surprise! *applause*" and Spock moves onto his next trick, cutting a Tribble in half with a saw.

  • WTF none of these will play past 10 minutes

  • why is youtube having problems. WHY
