Economical demand for meat was required historically because we only recently developed the technology to be veg, and there is no global cencus or globalization of companies who produce vegan-only foods. Many countries rely on meats. Not every country has a supermarket, some people rely on it, and meat, if it ever becomes obsolete, will only be with the globalization of veganism.

We would still be infected from the prescence of birds and the environment. Not just by eating.

going vegeterian will never prevent the flu, the influenza will stay forever, and will forever evolve...just the more ppl, birds, pigs or whatever animal there are, the faster and easier it is for the virus to transmit because the widespread close availability of receptors, it being human, birds or any other animal.. bkyard or indoor chicken, they get the flu, just the bkyard one has less receptors for it to transmit to and giving thus the flu strain a less/slower evolving path.

Going vegetarian implies that an idividual will stop eating meat. Saying that you wan't to exterminate all animals to prevent any animal forms of influenza isn't covered by that. As an Avian Biology major in one of the leading poultry departments of the South, I can sit back and laugh at this video. H5N1 was NOT originated from enclosed growout houses, especially those with tight biosecurity measures. It's the village chickens that are exposed to the environment and have close contact with humans that pose a threat to a possible pandemic... notice, "POSSIBLE" pandemic... there is no reason to stop eating chicken or to protest that chickens should be grown outdoors...

It is a documented fact that these chickens in close quarters have more disease, are unhealthy, lower immune systems leaving them more susceptible to sickness. Free range is always better for the chickens. This video just gave the evidence...No outdoor chicken was infected..you do not need to major in biology to realize a fact.
