I was reading a book called Voltaire's Bastards recently, by John Ralston Saul and this song seemed the most fitting background music I could think of to play...this as well as The Future. The eighties changes seem to be falling down around us at the moment. Leonard knew they would too. Nice work.
Thanks for this cover, it's one of the best I've seen. Though the public's 'rediscovery' of Cohen due to the X-factor is largely a good thing, there has been a tendency to reinterpret his songs as uplifting pop tracks, contrary to their original tone.
I think that despite being higher in tempo and timbre, you've captured the darker, more bitter quality of this song which is more usually missed, and which I very much enjoy.
