  • My dad used to tell me about going to fiddle contests in Charleston between Clark and Natchee the Indian. Must have been something.

  • yes the festival is still going on ive never been up there, it draws such a huge crowd, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez was there the same time as Gene and Clark,.

  • That must have been one heck of show!

  • yes im very aware of the newport festival video, i have the same video, that is my husband Gene playing the guitar and Wayne Hauser playing banjo usually it was just Gene and Clark no banjo player. somebody from Germany posted this video.

  • Now when I watch that video, I will have a new appreciation for it! That is really neat. Did you ever go to the Newport Folk Festival? I have seen videos such as the one mentioned above, and have heard of it often, but I don't know if it is still going on. Do you know if it is? Hope you have a great night, Brian

  • Clark was a good friend he was a great showman, loved to dance while fiddling, he started playing fiddle when he was just five yrs old, i never heard him play any other instrument.

  • Can you imagine someone playing the fiddle at such a young age? Allen Sisson, who recorded back in the 20's and 30's did the same thing. He was playing while "still in gowns." Wow! You might already know about it , but there is a video on Youtube of Clark at the Newport Folk Festival back in the 60's. His playing is phenominal. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out. It's really something to see. Well thank you very much for watching and I hope you have a good day. Brian

  • this is a real old one, Clark was the best fiddler i ever heard , my husband played the guitar with him up to Clarks death in 1975.

  • That is so cool! I am trying to get a dvd with hundreds of old time songs on it including: The Kessinger Brothers, he complete recordings of th Red Fox Chasers, and a bunch of stuff from Crocketts Kentucky Mountaineers. I will definitely be putting up everything I get by these three groups. Were you good friends with Clark? That is really neat. Did Clark play anything besides the fiddle? Thank you for sharing this with me, have a wonderful day. Brian
