  • Gorgeous! Nice to see a broken train still in use! Many would send it back!

  • Also what controller are you using?

  • @ishan99b Hornby Select. The one which comes with the DCC Pendolino set's.

  • @KBRAILVIDEOS Ok and for the lights you press function 0 (function) and then reverse/forward direction for rear/front lights but what button do you press for night time/daylight light settings?

  • @ishan99b I'll PM you.

  • @T0pper221 The changing lights are custom made by Express Models of shepshed Leicestershire, and are not a standard feature with the model if bought straight off the shelf. To make it DCC you need to solder 3 decoders in, and buy the kit as well. All in all, you could be looking at an extra £60-£80 just to operate on DCC with the kit.

  • I must correct you its a 221 not a 220 as Virgin only operate 221s not 220s :)

  • @ishan99b The Class 220's were Built by Bombardier Transportation in 2000/2001 and were introduced by Virgin Trains in 2001 for their Cross Country Franchise. They remained in the livery as seen on my model until Mid 2007, when it emerged Virgin would no longer operate the Cross Country services, when Arriva, now part of Deustche Bahn, formed Cross Country Trains. So yes you are correct for todays scene, however this IS A 220! Virgin now only operate 221's Cross Country have 220s and a few 221s

  • @KBRAILVIDEOS Ok my bad :)

  • @ishan99b Here's a way to remember a 221 is formed of five cars, a 220 is formed of four :)

  • That's mighty impressive! How many Voyager sets do you have?

I've tried to chip' mine though hit a snag with the speed as it seems to run very slow now for some reason (about 30-40% power on the controller is all it achieves for top-speed).

I added LED lights to the front to replace the bulbs and also added coach-lighting just for fun and for something a tad different.

  • @GeoGhostPBS Thanks. I have one operational Voyager, although I acquired a second set from ebay very cheap for spare parts for my current DCC Fitted model, should I ever need any.

With the speed, it could be down to the decoder. Mine doesn't run as fast as it should, although i'll be inserting a Lens or Hornby Sapphire decoder when funds allow. If you want any wiring diagrams for the directional lighting just ask, pretty easy to make. Cheers

  • @GeoGhostPBS i have the same problem as you i fitted my voyager with a dcc chip and it runs very slow i think it is something to do with how much current is going round the track i think they reduced the current on dcc controllers. also what controller are you using iv got the bachmann Dynamis.

  • @lemonmountain50

I run Hornby DCC and DC at the moment as I do not have a set layout due to time, space and cost restraints (good old student life ay?)

I've tried the Bachmann Dynamis at my local model rail club and had the same issue. Since I've got a Hornby chip fitted I'm considering changing it over to a Bachmann chip to see if that works better (at least they have more CV options). Thinking about using Bachman chips for motors and Hornby ones for lights and functions.
