  • i would love to have been there.

    this is a cool cover.

  • Is this from the videophile VHS? I have that around somewhere but it's been so long since I watched it I can't remember the tracklist, still an awesome ass song was listening to the original 12" the other day. Whatever happened to Ministry - oh yeah they went into free fall after Paul left, nice one again Al.

  • Al and Nivek/ cEvin are pretty connected and know each other very well so this cover is just how Ministry would approach, a Ministry fan would love this, an Sp fan would love the other one, but wtv.

  • Both versions are awesome!

  • Dope cover, skinny pup is awesome

  • ROCK 'N ROLL!!!!

  • Best combo EVER

  • fucking sick fotage

    !

    thank You!!!

  • good song not as good as the original

  • what kinda amps were Ministry using at this point, I know theyre marshall but what kind? Is it maybe like a JCM 800 or something?

  • fucking awesome !!! al & ogre rulez .. thanx guys :)

  • The full videotape-In Case you Didn't Feel Like Showing Up-truly does justice to this show, as well as the incredible talent on stage during the tour promoting the Mind... album. Fantastic songs, including one of Pailhead's singles, and Jello Biafra doing his version of the flag pledge. I regret that this tour happened several months before I discovered Ministry.

  • Reflecting on the SP break up "Fuck art, Let's kill" speaks volumes.

  • this must've been the most awesome show on earth ever period

  • i like the stuff they did together on rabies

  • ripp off

  • I think I just shit myself while watching this. I didn't get into this stuff until 3 years later, much too late to witness this myself.

  • NO. THE ORIGINAL IS BEST!!!

  • @MagnitudePerson I agree. The Skinny Puppy Original is THE BEST! Love this song, along with their song "God's Gift Maggot".

  • Ministry turned to shit when Paul left and Skinny Puppy was always superior. But this version of Smothered Hope fucking destroys the puppy version. So fucking bad ass.

  • NO. ORIGINAL IS EST.

Im not even sure if THIS IS Industrial ROCK OR METAL.. Sorry im used to Aggro-Industrial and Industrial Nu-Metal or epxerimental noize rock/metal. I dont know what qualify this as Throbbing Gristle's Industrial rock or metal

  • I thought the SP/Ministry collaborations were cool. SP was so different, it took this stuff to give them U.S. exposure.

  • fuck....no ty, Skinny Puppy all the way

  • Does anyone know where I could get ahold of "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up" ??? It was the best ever.

  • download it on btjunkie

  • ogre seems to aprove he is singing

  • i love al but he's butchering this song

  • yeh how cant you tell the difference between the two

  • doesn't sound much like Nivek when he's playing with Kevin Cey though does it... Sounds more like Al with its raspy edge... Perhaps the drugs Al gave Ogre just do that to your voice :)

  • Different vocal style with different phrasing and more shouting than Skinny Puppy material. He's also singing through Al's processing instead of his own. Same thing happened with Trent Reznor when he sang with 1000 Homo DJs

  • is there anyone out there that knows of or knows where to find the TABS for this cover?

there are a few other vids on here of this song with Ogre and Ministry(AL)

    but everywhere i've looked...nothing? anyone?

  • not got tab but know how to play it, apart from the solo cosa its different everytime

  • show us how brother!

post a vid of yourself playing that shit and send it our way!

    it would be truly appreciated

  • That cover sucks ass.

    BOOOO!

  • So great to see this again. My VHS copy is long beyond playable.

  • SKINNYPUPPY rulz :) HELL YEAH!!!!!!!! OGR€ cEVIN miss us DWAYNE

  • I was at this show. >.>

  • cool I was too. My buddy was in the pit and lost his shoe. Someone hit Al with it and he was pissed! We got it back after the show, he still seemed pissed.

  • I went to this show with a guy that climbed up the fence and stood on the speak cluster flipping people off. We thought he was the coolest EVER. Good memories.

  • FUCK ART

    LET'S KILL

  • @manirtizlsusername that is a chemlab tshirt he is wearing i think. it is on 2 of Chemlabs shirts from " burn out at the hydrogen bar". i love these guys though....takes me back

  • @manirtizlsusername i have the tattoo on my arm and the t shirt

  • @manirtizlsusername yes indeed. i remember that tour well. Ogre and i were on the bus after they played my club. we were talking about the tour and how it was going. he really loved the FUCK ART LET'S KILL shirt i had made for my first band (Furnace, before i did them for Chemlab). so i traded it (and a copy of my book) for a ViViSect VI sweatshirt he had had made. amazing how many people told me i was stealing a Puppy/Ogre slogan when our shirts first started appearing. i laughed. a lot.

  • damn peace0ff, who shat in your Fruit Loops this morning?

  • hahaha....behind a fence!

    nice...XD

  • This was on side two of the Ministry "Burning Inside" single.

  • wrong

  • Uh, not wrong. It's on side 2 of the 12" LP single with Thieves 12" remix.

  • This isn't horrible, it's fuckin' awesome!

The real version is still the best though

  • Yes it is horrible.

  • If you liked SP so much you would know that the guy that is singing this version is Ogre of SP, not Al Jourgensen of Ministry. This concert tour included Ministry, SP, and I think Revolting Cocks.

  • Saw this show 3 days later in Phoenix...KMFDM was the opener. Ogre and Chris Connelly were guests who sang on a few songs and provided other support. One of the best shows ever...

  • You're right. The only good remix of this was on Remix Dys Temper.

  • if your going to fuck around with it you have to make it atlease somewhat as good as the original

i love ministry but the SP version kicks this ones ass

  • that is ogre singing. check the nyc 1988 version.

  • i know i just think the original is so much better

    with the synth and percussion

  • i respectfully disagree

    t

his is one of my fav songs ever!!!

its as good as anything Ministry ever done, and i fuken love Ministry!!

  • haha cool performance shitty video :P

  • this is the shitty one. there's a better one out there somewhere.

  • its called the SP version

  • oger and ministry. awsome!!!

  • I for one thought Mythmaker is great, maybe not on the same level say as Remisson or Bites, which are excellent albums, but Mythmaker still kicks ass, however im not fond of the ghetto talk box used on some of the tracks.

  • This is amazing, I wish this had been on the live dvd "In Case You didn't Feel Like Showing Up"!

  • Best Skinny Puppy cover deffinetely!

  • It would be awsome if ministry tours with SP for the mythmaker tour. They could play this cover, and afterword I will be content enough to die

  • i agree

  • Somebody should die because their taste in music differs from yours? You're an insignificant elitist.

  • or maybe he's significant and in a position of power. you'd never know for sure.

  • I saw this tour in Ann Arbor at the Nectorine Ballroom, Necto. The fence was fun to bounce off of and it was so bloody crowded we couldn't fully mosh. The energy was one of hte biggest highs ever, fuck the drugs just give me the music.

  • Isaw it in houston

  • Al basically took over the recording of Rabies, which is why it dosnt sound like a skinny puppy album.

  • how surreal is this video?...wow...

  • fuck killing

    lets fuck

  • badass.

  • Now this is ALTERNATIVE!!!

  • best smothered hope cover ever

  • FUCK YES! coolest line up ever except its missing one main ingredient!! JELLO...and a lard set..

    Biafra, Ogre, AL/Paul best lineup

  • Bring it... I love all this interworking between the major players... regardless of the bollocks now.

  • Why would you say that doesn't compare to skinny puppy? Andy is right, that is Nivek Ogre of Skinny Puppy singing!!! Educate yourself.

  • thank you andy, not many people know that a lot of skinny puppy's guitar work, especially rabies was 'Alien Jourgensen' look at the SLEEVE(not dumb-who is dumb)

  • FUCK ART

    LET'S KILL

  • smothered hope fly from sorrow for a new divine tomorrow! classic... good cover

  • thank you for posting this!

  • ye can never compare to sp - ye just dont have the TRUE (not hard - i am hard) energy. educate tyourself - wi skinny puppy

  • Awesome, wicked cover! Love the audience too

  • nice solo
