Is this from the videophile VHS? I have that around somewhere but it's been so long since I watched it I can't remember the tracklist, still an awesome ass song was listening to the original 12" the other day. Whatever happened to Ministry - oh yeah they went into free fall after Paul left, nice one again Al.
Al and Nivek/ cEvin are pretty connected and know each other very well so this cover is just how Ministry would approach, a Ministry fan would love this, an Sp fan would love the other one, but wtv.
The full videotape-In Case you Didn't Feel Like Showing Up-truly does justice to this show, as well as the incredible talent on stage during the tour promoting the Mind... album. Fantastic songs, including one of Pailhead's singles, and Jello Biafra doing his version of the flag pledge. I regret that this tour happened several months before I discovered Ministry.
Ministry turned to shit when Paul left and Skinny Puppy was always superior. But this version of Smothered Hope fucking destroys the puppy version. So fucking bad ass.
Im not even sure if THIS IS Industrial ROCK OR METAL.. Sorry im used to Aggro-Industrial and Industrial Nu-Metal or epxerimental noize rock/metal. I dont know what qualify this as Throbbing Gristle's Industrial rock or metal
doesn't sound much like Nivek when he's playing with Kevin Cey though does it... Sounds more like Al with its raspy edge... Perhaps the drugs Al gave Ogre just do that to your voice :)
Different vocal style with different phrasing and more shouting than Skinny Puppy material. He's also singing through Al's processing instead of his own. Same thing happened with Trent Reznor when he sang with 1000 Homo DJs
cool I was too. My buddy was in the pit and lost his shoe. Someone hit Al with it and he was pissed! We got it back after the show, he still seemed pissed.
I went to this show with a guy that climbed up the fence and stood on the speak cluster flipping people off. We thought he was the coolest EVER. Good memories.
@manirtizlsusername that is a chemlab tshirt he is wearing i think. it is on 2 of Chemlabs shirts from " burn out at the hydrogen bar". i love these guys though....takes me back
@manirtizlsusername yes indeed. i remember that tour well. Ogre and i were on the bus after they played my club. we were talking about the tour and how it was going. he really loved the FUCK ART LET'S KILL shirt i had made for my first band (Furnace, before i did them for Chemlab). so i traded it (and a copy of my book) for a ViViSect VI sweatshirt he had had made. amazing how many people told me i was stealing a Puppy/Ogre slogan when our shirts first started appearing. i laughed. a lot.
If you liked SP so much you would know that the guy that is singing this version is Ogre of SP, not Al Jourgensen of Ministry. This concert tour included Ministry, SP, and I think Revolting Cocks.
Saw this show 3 days later in Phoenix...KMFDM was the opener. Ogre and Chris Connelly were guests who sang on a few songs and provided other support. One of the best shows ever...
I for one thought Mythmaker is great, maybe not on the same level say as Remisson or Bites, which are excellent albums, but Mythmaker still kicks ass, however im not fond of the ghetto talk box used on some of the tracks.
I saw this tour in Ann Arbor at the Nectorine Ballroom, Necto. The fence was fun to bounce off of and it was so bloody crowded we couldn't fully mosh. The energy was one of hte biggest highs ever, fuck the drugs just give me the music.
thank you andy, not many people know that a lot of skinny puppy's guitar work, especially rabies was 'Alien Jourgensen' look at the SLEEVE(not dumb-who is dumb)
i would love to have been there.
this is a cool cover.
