when it was released Q3 Arena used high specs, this is a good thing to carry around, smaller than a laptop. I know some people want something smaller than a laptop.
Like playing on a normal PC my ass LMAO. I was doing quake 3 arena back in High School Comp. Tech Networking class on a 350MHZ Gateway Intel Machine back in the late 90's, Also i would not want to stare at that 6in screen long playing Quake, my DS Lite is bad enough to look at for long periods. LMAO!! Also one last thing having to use the extra keyboard and mouse is an EPIC FAIL!!!
:D i mean... we can play Quake live (which is very similiar to quake 3) via our internet explorer and installation have like 2-3MB, so i dunno im not like WOW.
small screen = low resolution. Plus pam pilots are powerful these day too compared to pc's of 10 years ago. I bet he could push 60 with a vertical sync.
bullshit. it does run smooth when he is playing alone, but when he is fighting with bot its a bit laggy, and try put in big map and 8 bots to test that UMPC
nah, the point of it was to make it playable on the same computers that could play UT99. If u can play quake you can play that.
I played quake 3 team arena with its big maps on a geforce 2 mx 32Mb and it ran it pretty well with some settings down, netbooks have much better graphics than that.
viaarena123 can i get on youtube using this little PC, id love to have this thing does it have full PC stuff like USB, and you would prob need an external cd drive but you can just put it on a flash drive maybe, can you tell me what this little pc can and can't do
heh.. rockets are the most skill needing weps in q3 theyre slow theyre not so heck of a accurate.. however u told rocks "take the fun out of game" then ur sadly mistakein the most annoying is when ppl do 2x railing
NO IT'S A GAMING CONSOLE, xD, ok ok I know but this is awesome for games, I mean, I want a UMPC (going for the Asus, not sure how much I'll lose in performance, but I got one for under 500€ can't go wrong with that) I want it mainly for work on my electronic schemes and the touchscreen is awesome for that, still if the R2H can play these games as well that would be awesome :P , I've seen it run HL2 at the lowest settings, not at full but good enough.
Q3A isnt that much of a demanding game.. I'd be more impressed with it running the same-day equivelent of other games, such as Unreal Tournament, Half Life + mods etc.
Hey Viaarena ...Great Vid! But I have a question about another game I would like to play on this device . (as NOOB as this sounds) I would like to play an MMORPG called "MonsterMU" . Do you think thats possible? I'm not sure of all the requirements ...Well thanx for the time and thats a great video that you shared to alot of gamers that a werent aware of this device .
I wouldn't call that too smooth, it's a reasonably good processor for that game but I'm seeing a lot of hesitation. Not necessarily heavy slowdown, but you'd definitely have some trouble with the Railgun in that game playing on the processor you're using. Quake III Arena is definitely an older game, but all things considered it's a nice mini PC, I'd just suggest keeping the graphs low, it'd probably do you some good to turn simple icons on and you'll get some reasonably smooth gameplay. Nice PC.
Maybe next time we'll ask him to type /cg_drawfps 1 and /com_maxfps 125 in the console so that we can see what he's working with. Not that I would be focused on playing Q3A on it, but it is cool that this mini PC can run it. 5/5
i have no valid clue what you're trying to say...this thing can't run counterstrike source yet, so i assume it a lower video card. assume either a 64 or 128mb video ram. and nvidia 8 series is not even out yet to be fit in a mini cpu.
stop saying stuff you dont even know what you are talking about
i played quake on a 350mhz pentium with a tnt 2 ultra. this game doesnt need much :)

Junk. Complete junk.
This device is not suitable for FPS. Why not make the screen even smaller? Wrist watch sized? lol
I'd recommend PAC-MAN (LOL) or Minesweeper hahahah ...
But each to his own :p

ut2004 would be easier, it has a direct x 7 mode. So does Call of duty 2. However UT2k4 is a pretty big game.
RenegadeMaster07 3 years ago
even in DX7, UT2K4 is alot harder to play than Q3A 2k4 was made in 2004, Q3 is not only older but uses the very simple Q3 engine.

That's because it wasn't. That's most definitely well under 60 fps... looks about between 15-20.
He should have put up draw fps and did a benchmark on it with timedemo.
But like he said, that's not what it's marketed for, it's for business.
He probably needed to lower the detail just to get it to run decently I'm guessing.
That isn't competitive level framerate, it's fragging with your buddies at work because your blowing time for shits and giggles.
