Beautifully spoken. I too am an adoptee who never knew my birth mother and have always wondered does she ever think about the little girl she did not raise and love? Does she have my same traits always searching for answers?
@xThPxSpeczer what is wrong with you? i was adopted from china at 7 months old and my story is similar to hers, i visit china all the time, but i have never met my birth mother, but my family now is wonderful and calling her such a name is not a disgrace to her but to you, its degrading to yourself and people now see you as a racist is that what you want to be known for? i dont care if you posted your comment 2 months ago, u need to apologize right now!
Hi Alexa, I am so excited for you and the adventure you are undertaking to locate your Birth Mother. I was born in Germany, then adopted by a lovely American couple. I was blessed to have found my Birth Mother a year and a half ago. I also found I have 2 older brothers (one of which has not been found yet) and 2 younger sisters......oh yeah....I am 45! So never give up! Good luck on your quest to find that part of you that has been missing!
Hi Hanauborn, I also was born in Germany. American parents adopted me and they have passed on. My biological mother whom I have never seen was poor and had to give me up. I would like to meet her. How did you find her. It has been difficult since she is in Germany and I am in the U.S. thank you, scootergreen3
Hi MegaLacubana, First of all, congratulations! I think it is a VERY loving thing you are doing by adopting a child! Having been adopted, my adoptive family always showed me unconditional love, but there was always that questions of who am I, where did I come from, why did my birthmother give me away? These are questions that your child will most likely have in the back of his/her mind when they are old enough to realize what adoption is.
The other "challenging" times were when my adoptive family would comment on family traits. For example, " you have your father's nose or you have your mother's eyes". These were times I felt left out and "adopted". Now that I have found my biological family, I can now enjoy and be included in this type of a conversation. Please understand though, NOBODY will replace the mother who raised and took care of me groing up! I hope this helps! God bless!
On last thing. If you have the ability to, Keep any information you have of your childs biological mother (or father). They may or may not want to reach out to them one day to find out why. I know this is not always possible. My adoptive mother recently adopted more children and I have encouraged her to try to keep what records she hasin case my little siblings want to "Find out" some day. Remember, your childs love of you WILL NOT be diminished for doing this. :-)
