i think it's a shame how this is so commercialized and made fun of in Hollywood when ppl try to be funny. i actually started practicing qi gong, and even though i am such a beginner, i feel calm after i meditate & do some of the exercises. i've never tried Taiji Quan, but i'm sure it could have the same benefits.
Again, too bad ppl see idiots mock it in Western media not take it seriously as a result.
@Toryonline Sorry, but Tai-Chi is ALL about Peace and Harmony! Yes, it is one of the MOST destructive combat forms (It is the "Grand Ultimate Fist" after all!)...but it is based on internal harmony and Chi flow! I've studied this form for 3 years (I know, that's not a lot)...but this internal peace form will trash any external "anger and force" form around! Good to hear your post though!
@cybervore FYI- The term Taiji is what we in the west refer to as "the ying yang" symbol. Taiji means Grand/Supreme Ultimate. It refers to the Taoist philosophy of the "yin yang" symbol. I study TaijiQaun too(Chen) and ya it sounds cool to say, "it's the Grand Ultimate Fist" , but it doesn't mean because it destroyed all other styles etc... :)

Don't think peace and harmony is Taichi.
Martial Art is all about sport science.
Keep using such as peach & harmony & ki thought to learn Martial Art is ridiculous nowadays.
