  • Had no idea there were Torana's exported :D

Love the A/C install there, looks sweet!!!

  • very nice.

  • sweet car dude i own an lh sl my self put about 7k into it

  • fucken sick car man love the time that u spent on it . And crazy rims a1 my hole famliy have torrys

  • a beautfiul machine that is

  • Comment removed

  • 55555+ love the car have be had many of these beasts

  • did u know the gto in usa is ausstralian too lol

  • @Madscotti2hotti I found it interesting when I discovered that the last Pontiac GTO was actually a Holden. Pitty it was at least 6 or so years old when we finally got it over here-it didn't look too good.

  • why do you amaricains like the aussie car so much?

  • @Madscotti2hotti The only reason we like aussie cars so damn much is due to the fact that they are awesome-and they are different from what we have here in the States. Sure, we have hundreds of thousands of mopars in our country but none of them actually combined the best from various cars and made it work so well (XA-XF Falcon for example).

  • mate she is mickey mouse, not a fan of those rims but everyone has their favorite food, how easy was it to register a RHD over there, cause when i move over there my dream is to eventually get a 1973 LJ XU1 and keep it as original as i can!

  • Now all you need is a couple of VK HDT Brocks, And your On!!

  • Paint it all black, roll around in the dirt, put on lots of leather and you just Mad Max yourself, nice car.

  • Mate, been following your build on gmh-torana, Great car!!! Do what you like to it...Its yours! Who gives a flying fuck what people on toss tube think,

Most of them are 16 year old dreamers imo!!!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! and pass on your tips and fab to us @gmh!

  • Nice ride, but I think you should have left it in it's natural environment-western suburbs of Sydney

  • Love the Torana, in America it's nice to have something other than Mustangs sometimes

  • Fuckin sweet!

  • nothing special about it having an ls1... we have them here too ya kno lol

personally i reckon old school should hav carby.

  • u should of made it look genuine it would of looked 5x better i recon any way

  • hey mate, what sort of hassles did you have to go through to get one of our little beasties into your country and registered?

A part of me secretly would love to become an american citizen and bring over some aussie cars to the states (i doubt it'll ever happen though lol).

I imagine there's a heap of emmissions and safey bullshit the car needs to pass?

  • Very nice Torana , nice engine , nice wheels etc but the paint mate , chips and faded paint , how about a new paint job then you will have a something special .

  • couldnt find the love it button so i clicked like instead..

  • @CADtekk - Bloody hell..... Youtube "A9X Peter Brock Last Lap 1979 Bathurst" ..... at least do some research before you make derogatory comments..........ditto to 'self abused'

  • @CADtekk if you read what the owner has typed," There is a foot and a half long opening nearly in the bonnet." therefore according to your theory of a "Ricer" scoop it' doesn't meet your criteria, and also, on the original A9X Torana's the scoop also had a hole in the bonnet, and it sucked air from the low pressure area at the base of the windscreen, therefore making it a highly effective and functional scoop, so I'm sorry but you're completely wrong on both counts.

  • Don't make it too bloody popular...all the yanks will want one and leave us bloody dry!

  • Awesome car mate! great build, love the plates to !!

Show the Yanks how us Aussies do it !

  • @CADtekk Thats the scoop that came stock on the A9X torana models you idiot.......

  • Nice car man, i bet she turns heads over there. I used to own a LH with 3.8 ecotec and 4 sp man shift from 95-2000 until i sold it to a guy who stupidly left it unlocked one night and they ripped the whole interior out, even took the gear knob!

  • very tidy machine mate. She sounds like a freight train sitting at the station..no offence mate...sound grunty actually...

  • one of the best looking torana's ive seen & awesome plates ausssie

  • very nice matey - can't believe some of the idiot comments the seppos are writing about your donk - good work son!

  • Bathurst muscle we didnt name a straight on the best racetrack in oz 'conrod' for nothing

  • @CADtekk

    Ummm, no...that is a factory A9X, L34 scoop..

  • @OzHemi - Beautiful car. I had a 1979 Torana Hatch, not an A9X, but it was the best car I have ever owned. Have regreted selling it from the moment it left the driveway. If you can find one here now (and they are rare as) they are NZ$20,000+ for the standard 202 straight six. Awesome car, thanks for sharing

  • I want to get a lj Torana 6 seter cause my mum had one

  • great job on the lx mate beautiful finish

  • That's fantastic!! Better than the ones we have here.

If I did up a torana this is how I'd do it!!

  • Fantastic car, well done. I like the wheels. I think they suit the car perfectly.

  • Very nice, bet she turns a few heads and raises some questions over there :)

  • have you checked the build plates to see if its a genuine ss.

  • It sounds like an asthmatic, probably has nothing to do with the fact there is no hole for the bonnet scoop, but couldn't help noticing.

  • @selfabused

Ummm...you are wrong completely. There is a foot and a half long opening nearly in the bonnet. I can sit in the car and see the top edge of the throttle body through the back of the bonnet scoop actually. Of couse being fuel injected it really does not matter as it has the air inlet going through the core support to get cool air outside of the engine bay and into the filter box I built.

  • @OzHemi I think what he's getting at is the slightly weird exhaust note LS1 motors seem to have - it sounds more, I dunno, high pitched than most V8's - they are, of course, great motors but I've noticed this time after time with LS motors, that slightly higher pitch they exhibit..what it really reminds me of, is in the 80's in Aust. lots of cars had 6's (but wished they were V8s) and used to modify their exhausts trying to replicate the V8 burble - this sounds a bit like they sounded...

  • @selfabused A lot of the newer bonnet scoops have the intake at the rear.

  • @selfabused haha you idiot

  • @selfabused you douche

  • Mate that is a sweet ride , what do people say over there about the car??

  • @tufwgn

Thanks! Everyone here really likes it..something different and a nice build they've all reckoned as well.

  • You have a wicked beard

  • Hmm dude those wheels dont suit it imo, go back to old style rims

  • @TROYMANZ

I had wide 14" hotwires on the car way back when...now my front brakes are larger diameter than those wheels...so I need a suitable wheel for the modern braking the car has. I picked the wheels and had them built just because I like the fact they seem modern yet still have the road race (which they are) feel as well and not overly flashy at the same time.

  • @OzHemi ahk i see now why u did it, ya but i think there are probably more suttle wheels out there if u looked hard enough but still not overtop and wog look a like rims

  • nice job man. i need some help with electricals what did you do? whats the main things that need tapping in to

  • @777JesusDisciple

Thanks! I modified the factory LS1 wiring harness (from the late model Camaro donor car) myself, and redid and modified all the Torana engine wiring and most of the underdash wiring as well with new stuff to suit all the things I added on.

  • Beautiful ! Peter Brock would be proud of you...top stuff !

  • vcval, you should open your eyes, Plenty Torana's in Aus with all the good fruity brakes etc, Bet it don't have a full floater rear end. It's nice but sounds like a shopping cart.

  • "AUSSIIE" Awesome plates for an awesome car, that can actually handle corners : D

  • Yeh the SS torana is very much like your custom v8 vega or AMC rambler hornet.. The only difference is the headlights and minus the tail flick spoiler thing thats part of the body.. I own one as well and to be honest I would never sell it. there as rare as they come and they are so sexy.. /watch?v=TsOAyt3iyns is what the torana is very much like in sound and the way it drives in this clip..

  • Your engine bay looks so neat and tidy, tops mate

  • Thanks heaps! I've been getting some miles on the car and am really happy with how it runs and drives as well.

  • Everything from the Sound down to the numberplates is awesome on this car.

    Regards,

    Perth Western Australia

  • @rudkips

    Thanks !

  • What a waste of an LS1.

  • Nice job dude, look after it !

  • is it hard to get american parts to fit?

  • thank fuck a yank has this maybe you can show us how to do things ( this is not sarcasm ) holden owners are inbread here and basicaly do the same thing to every frekin car they get you can go to any car show and see the same car built by different people all commenting on how big their monster tacho is , thankyou for making a torana something worth owning, i can almost gaurentee there is no other torana with willwood brakes and LS set up like yours

  • hey im a ford man but nice car mate would be proud to own it

  • Wow, what got you into Aussie muscle?

  • @user9005

I've imported and had a heap of Aussie cars, just always liked them since I first read about them and saw them in person when visiting Oz over the years.

  • Thank god the steering wheel is still on the correct side

  • Thanks everybody! It's been a good thing to build, and doing some test miles in it finally (did another short vid so far of it) and only a few little things came up to sort out, overall not much for having done it all from scratch pretty much.

  • awesome install, love how the engine looks like its supposed to be in that car. love it!!

  • @OzHemi that is my favourite torana ive seen mate! love the overall look of it. great to see old aussie muscle in the states!

  • fukn mint lad

  • Sweet Torry mate. Very tidy, i'll bet she puts a smile on your dial!!!

Mine's a genuine SS 5.0L in mint julep (got vid posted she under resto)

My bumpers are factory painted and I really prefer the paint to chrome. In fact i'm not that wild on chrome & painted all of my chrome strips black incl. headlights & grill & with the blackouts around the windows I found it more striking having just green & black w/o chrome.

Personal taste really and i'll do what I want cause she's MINE!!!

  • re paint it same colour with heaps of clear - chrome up those bumpers man!!! blaspheme!!! lol besides that nice

  • @spadgerslapper

Not sure if I will keep the painted bumper look or go to chrome actually ?

Thanks for all the good comments everyone!

  • @OzHemi all ss torrys had painted bumpers so keep it and i didnt think americans had any idea torrys wer a car

  • do most of the poeple over there ask you how come you got an right hand drive ss torana over there just out of curiosty whats it worth over there here it would be about 60 to 70 grand now please reply

  • @no1butmeau

People do wonder about the right hand drive, but like what it is, thanks!

And not sure what it would be worth...I just built it to drive and enjoy..

  • A thing of great beauty, sir!

  • Been working on the inside of the car lately, and have all the dash put back together finally, new seats are in, more work on the console and what not. Just finishing up with some more sound deadening around the back area and a little more wiring to finish up. Been around the block a few times and so far so good. Soon as I finish off a few more things it will be time to hit the road (and more video of course!)

  • What size is That Brake Package, and what did they cost?

  • @403LX

I build the front brake setup myself..they use a 360mm x 36mm rotor from an AMG Mercedes (custom machined to suit the Chev bolt pattern and billet steel hubs I have) and new Brembo 4 spot calipers. I would have liked to use the matching 8 piston AMG calipers but the price was just off the planet for new ones... The rear brakes are just an off the shelf 330mm kit from Baer to suit the 9" diff.

  • That is fickin sweet.

    I miss the aussie muscle...

  • Ah the yanks must love it, good stuff!

  • Love the number plates :) Great Conversion great car

  • An LS1 in that thing??? I bet that's fun as hell. Cool looking ride.

  • @tripleheshy

Sure is an LS1, and T56 six speed trans as well, thanks!

  • i bet this beauty turns plenty of heads in the US, good on ya mate.......

  • Where did you ge the fender flares?

  • @Wopadas

I bought them in Oz 10-11 years ago with the car. They were factory on the A9X and L34 model Toranas, so plenty of aftermarket versions of them out there.

  • lol wats it doing over there?

  • @253UC

I've brought a bunch of Oz cars here, this is my favorite and had it for a while now.
