@Ravenite1 Exactly! I watch this video every night. This song makes me think how beautiful can life be.. as you said, it heals my soul, mind and heart.
@ArkFromTerranigma This music is so beautiful and timeless. It's strange to feel affection for 16 bit characters but when I hear this music it makes me think of Crono and gang like they were old friends from childhood that I once knew.
@ArkFromTerranigma This truly is soul-healing music, imbued with some of the composer's soul at the time of its creation. It seems that music like this is rarely made any more. How I miss the days when games had soul. Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, FFVI, Illusion of Gaia.....
Gorgeous music! It's the kind of music that just takes your mind away to a beautiful place. I pity the people with such cold dead hearts that they had to vote "dislike" on this music.
This is the ending credits theme for a 16-bit game on the Super Nintendo, over 16 years ago. It contains no orchestra, no female vocals...but does that stop it from being beautiful?
There's a lot of good sound tracks out there. Chrono Trigger's is the only one I would say is truly transcendent. Going on 16 years since I first went through this game, with many returns to it over the years, and it still inspires me to this day.
@DrWatticus 16 years for me as well---- as of this month actually. I haven't gone through the game since I saw all the endings back in that magical winter of '96, but Chrono Trigger's soundtrack has stayed with me all this time. Transcendent indeed.
I will always remember those times. My brother and I had nothing but the moments from these games to liveby. Bagging brown paper bags with plastic, recycling, saving money to play these games. The songs mean so much. Long live the golden era of rpgs.
I'm not much of a sap, but I gotta admit I was sad when the game ended and I heard this song. Esp w/ the ending where they show everyone in their own time never to see eachother again.
@Zalen11 Well some of us do have time when we are out and about, bringing this to the DS was a great idea. And there is a sequel already. PS1, Chrono Cross.
I've come to the conclusion that square-enix doesn't like money all that much. I read that the reason there is no sequel is that the ds port didn't sell well and I quote "if people want a sequel they should buy more". I'm sorry.... I'm not interested in a portable version of a game I adore because I don't have time when I'm out and about. What I am interested in is either a full-scale graphical remake with no changes in story or gameplay....or a worthy epic sequel. And not for a portable system
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Chrono Trigger. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
Crono, thou art the best swordsman I have ever laid this pair of eyes on. I am proud to have fought by your side through the best adventure of all time.
I will be an old man on my death bed, and my final request will be to hear this song one final time surrounded by the people who mean the most to me, and as the final notes ring out I will pass from this world...
@darkprince909 But apparently you won't die on the final notes and an awkward silence fills the room until you yell: "PLAY IT AGAIN!!!". This happens plenty of times until you actually die in the middle of the song.
I recently introduced this game to my five year old daughter, who immediately fell in love with the characters and story. We made it through the game and she was absolutely mesmerized by the ending. Chrono Trigger, you will live on into the next generation!!!
I wish i could travel through time like Crono and live in the 90s when the snes was still one of the biggest game systems and stuff and nothing really that bad happened in life
Great game, great OST, great plot... Simply a masterpiece of the Super Famicom era!
Sadly, modern games only have magnificent graphics. They lack the passion needed to give birth to a game like classics. Fortunately, we still can play them with our old consoles or emulators.
This song represents all of our feelings after experiencing such an incredible tale as Chrono Trigger. Along with its characters, music, and gameplay, this RPG was the most balanced and easy to play RPGs of the 16 bit era.
Rest in peace, Crono & Marle.
Good RPGs get sequels. Great RPGS are timeless and do not require a sequel.
When I was about 8, I was shopping for a game for my SNES. There was this game and a Yogi Bear game I couldn't decide on. I chose the Yogi Bear game. This decision altered the future forever and will only hasten the coming of Lavos. We must travel back in time, to the year 1996, and punch my 8 year old self in the face for being a complete idiot. This will make me come to my senses and choose Chrono Trigger, thus altering the future, and saving the world from utter annihilation from Lavos.
I love this game, it's for the Dream Team: Akira Toriyama, Nobuo Uematsu (one of the composers), and Hironobu Sakaguchi. Can you mention another good game you know for this team?
One thing I really liked about this soundtrack is that most videogame/movie soundtracks are all about setting the atmosphere/mood, and probably wouldn't hold up very well if you just listened to it without any context. But some of these chrono trigger songs could pass for legitimate pieces of music; it just has the added bonus of sounding even better when you remember what you felt when you first heard the song.
what a perfect ending credits theme to a perfect game, this song (and game in general), make me sad because theres only one chrono trigger out there, and i just wish there was more to it with the same quality (yea, thats a diss to chrono cross, which has great music but gameplay is unplayable for me).
The composer that did Chrono Trigger actually cried when they did the last scene for CT and showed it in the Square office that the game was finished and they used this song. Yasunori Mitsuda is awesome. So is Nobuo Uematsu whom finished the soundtrack for the game, but Yasunori is the true genius behind CT's soundtrack.
@delerak I recall reading about this. I wonder how many game music composers put this much soul into their music these days? I'm sure there aren't many....
;__; THIS SONG omg THIS EFFING SONG I remember playing this game whenever i go to my grandmother's house for long periods of time because there was nothing else to do. Just one of those little things i remember clearly and makes me say i had a happy childhood.
@karinoiseluzinda You are most definitely not alone :) I actually live and work in Tokyo, and have occasionally thought about trying to arrange meetings with the likes of Yasunori Mitsuda (composer for Chrono Trigger), Nobuo Uematsu (composer for the first ten Final Fantasy games) and Hiroki Kikuta (composer for Secret of Mana) just to express how much happiness their efforts have brought me...
Hearing this for the first time, I knew the EPIC battle against Lavos was worth the effort. This gives you the feeling you truly saved the world and you've done a damn good thing for everyone. Chrono Trigger, a game beyond compare, no matter how graphics-addicted new games get, it will be and always will be one of the greatest games ever made. Everyone should play this game at least once, to share in how amazing it is
(Continued) It is important to keep a foot in the past because it does indeed help things along the way. What if we forgot how to make games like CT or Doom? Aspiring Game Creators would come in with limited knowledge about how to make a good game. There are games that are in bad graphics that are memorable, even if they are made today (Mardek made by Psedolonewolf). Without people learning at the most basic, then we end up with a lot of crap not worth playing.
@nothingespecial1 "Do you know why gaming doesn't advance? Because people like you live too much in the past..." I take offense to that, I don't live too much in the past, all I'm saying is that gaming nowadays is getting too graphics oriented. People who like things that look good and play like shit and have horrible story lines (Alone in the Dark 4) can like that if they want, I don't care as long as they don't start ranting and raving about it.
@JacobPaige Yes, all SquareEnix cares about nowadays is gaining a profit from a game that is crap but they know that we will buy it just because it has a few good songs (In the case of FFXIII, one extremely linear game with one song with different variations of it and a few good boss themes and one repetitive battle theme) and great graphics. I dare all of you guys to take two Final Fantasy games, a recent one and an old one, and have your friend play them both all of the way. RETRO GAMES FTW!
@Warriorsfan0111111 Do you know why gaming doesnt advance? Because people like you that live too much in the past. Someday, you will see how bad it is to get stuck in the past. Open your mind, there are still good RPGs nowadays, like FFXIII, it has a great soundtrack, great characters, greatest Final Fantasy gameplay so far (Coming from someone who has played all final fantasies exept for 12 and 5 (in a LOOOOONG time). SE is also trying their best to give us great remakes that IMO are better.
@nothingespecial1 Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but sorry I just had to laugh when you said FF13 has the best gameplay. It is the SECOND WORST RPG I HAVE EVER PLAYED! Only Phantasy Star 2 is worse and if I played the first Phantasy Star I imagine it would also be worse. If it wasn't for the graphics and music I would rather play Quest 64 than FF13.
Yes! In fact, the best FF ever is FFVI (long live Terra!); it has everything a good FF must have. Chrono Trigger follows its own way, and it's awesome!
@magnusLordN Yeah man FF6 is an incredible game no doubt about it. But I sill like FF7,9,10,and 12 better. I'm not insulting FF6 at all though, I would rate all of them a perfect 10 out of 10. And you're right about Terra, she's one of my all time favorite Final Fantasy characters as well.
the final farewell song from the era of amazing games.... i will NOT forget back then when these games came out. This makes me wanna go back in time so i can relive those days... :')
@shadowzapdos It's not really just "that era of games", it's who you were back then. Nowadays, if you would relieve your life (if you could, which you probably can't) in a later setting then new games, new movies, new people, new dreams, new hopes and the likes would make you glimmer. However, for me, this song is something I do not want to forget. Well I couldnt even if I tried.
I love this song. <3<3 (hearts) or whatever people write to express themselves nowadays.
This game is amazing. Mitsuada is amazing, So is Uematsu for helping when Mitsuda had stomach ulcers. I'm not sure who composed this exact piece but its tied for my favorite piece with memories of green.
this game was SO underrated, i swear if it was renamed final fantasy it would be a super huge hit. But i would never want the title changed because it fits so perfectly.
@vrossv yeah, it would be the same as with the other "final fantasy" gaidens. Probably something like "Final Fantasy Epic Adventure" or "Final Final Fantasy" or "Final Fantasy Chronicle" xD

Warriorsfan0111111 1 year ago

Chrono Trigger follows its own way, and it's awesome!
magnusLordN 1 year ago
@magnusLordN Yeah man FF6 is an incredible game no doubt about it. But I sill like FF7,9,10,and 12 better. I'm not insulting FF6 at all though, I would rate all of them a perfect 10 out of 10. And you're right about Terra, she's one of my all time favorite Final Fantasy characters as well.

@85ihateposeurs
...yes. It's that some people that only played FFVII through FFX and not FFVI aren't the most suitable to talk.

@Knightmare2k6 i know... im playing more of my old games for my N64 than the new ones i have here for my Wii and PS2.
shadowzapdos 1 year ago
@shadowzapdos It's not really just "that era of games", it's who you were back then. Nowadays, if you would relieve your life (if you could, which you probably can't) in a later setting then new games, new movies, new people, new dreams, new hopes and the likes would make you glimmer. However, for me, this song is something I do not want to forget. Well I couldnt even if I tried.
I love this song. <3<3 (hearts) or whatever people write to express themselves nowadays.

@harpabarpa And well, as you might or might not have intended to point at - the song title says it all. :)

But i would never want the title changed because it fits so perfectly.
vrossv 1 year ago
@vrossv yeah, it would be the same as with the other "final fantasy" gaidens. Probably something like "Final Fantasy Epic Adventure" or "Final Final Fantasy" or "Final Fantasy Chronicle" xD
