it is pointless to use a base coat for a french manicure if you're going to use polish remover to fix the smile line, i just put on the white, fix it up then put on a top coat.

Like the video, I've notice that the client had on base coat before you applied the white polish. Does the acetone removes the base coat in the process of creating the smile line?

nice love it and the way it turned out but...doesnt putting acetone on ur skin do some thing really bad cause ive noticed after uve brushed it off the place u put acetone on gets really dry and its white on ur finger prints...

the bsest trick is to put a tape scotch tape on ur nails and apply the white color on the tip!.. it really works..

I think she was just showing how you do the tip. Actually you are suposed to do the tip, and then go over the whole nail with the nude

Her other tutorials suck, but she actually did this one the correct way, even tho the model had a base on first, which may have confused some of you.

i wanted to add (after reading some posts) that the smileline she did in the video is just ONE way of many to do this. those of you that are NOT TECHS should not be so offensive, those of you who are should be more repectful of your peers in the field - or go back to school and learn again about professionalism!!!! OMG that was one of the worse french polish applications I have ever seen. She 'blobbed' it on, then took acetone (bad drying affect to the skin) and cleaned up the smile line. Why didnt she learn how to do a proper smile line in the first place. I use a striper brush so it is neat and then complete the remainder of the free edge/with the regular white varnish brush, much more professional, rather than tidying up a mess aswell as removing the base coat with the acetone.....duhhhhhh!!!

Actualy, she would pass state board because you wash you wash your hands before you do someones nails and then after and you scrub underneath your nails with a brush. You NEVER use orangewood sticks because they are to hard and pointed to use on the soft skin around the nail. Using th acetone is a very good idea because first you apply a clear coat of polish, then you do the white tip like in this video and then you apply a second coat of clear polish to the nail.
