  • @bluesgolfer No, it is pau ferro. 2005 model.

  • who have the tabs of this??? :/

    i can't find them...

  • How did you make the stickers for the pickguard?

  • Comment removed

  • tommy is that a dunlop cry baby? or a thomas organ? i love that tone man! tell us more about your setup, string gauge? ts9 settings? congrats for the tone and greetings from argentina.

  • sick stuff man

  • Stevie would be proud!

  • great, would sounds better with playback!

  • You played it perfect!

  • fuck yes that was awsome

  • yes man, really great great sound great guitar srv!! it s a srv model with pao fero or brazilian roswood? thank you keep the blues!!!

  • It`s Fenders Stevie Ray Vaughan signature guitar.

  • are those stickers?

  • @eliteslayer66 yes, I made them. I took them off and changed the pickguard ever since tho.

  • how are the tone knobs set?

  • You make shout it great

  • One question , I have heard, that neck of SRV guitar is a unconfortable to play,

    are you agree??

    Thanks

  • @nosenoma One of the best necks I've ever played! It really depends what you like. It's bigger than the regular C necks, it's a U neck. I love it. Plays great and I can just recommend to try it out.

  • Dude....out dam standing. Excellent work, tone, and approach.

  • very impressive my friend. keep it up!!! and btw, all the people who thumbed down are just jealous... Stevie would be proud.

  • WOW!!! NAILED IT!!! the tone, the wah, the techniques, everything is perfect!!!! you obviously get "IT".

  • awesome

  • dude, all you need now is the custom sticker right under the bridge.

  • Right on man!

  • very great playing! 5stars!

  • nice choice buying the vibroverb. by the way where did you get yours?

  • Nice playing. What kind of pick do you use and how do you hold it? Do you keep your volume and tone on your guitar all the way up. Thanks.

  • Custom made picks with my name on it, Fender medium equivalent size. I pick with the flat side, like Stevie. Not because I'm copying, I realized for a long time it's more comfortable and you can play harmonics much better this way. I play with the volume knob a lot, the tone knobs as well. I like dynamics very much.

  • i posted on this video a year ago and was practically filled with emotion and awe.

A year later I'm still as impressed as I was a year ago.

    Keep it up man!

Hope you're doing well Tommy K.

    Peace

  • Thank you so much my friend. I'm so glad you like it! I'm doing ok, just playing as much as I can :) God Bless!

  • What type of strings are you using?

  • GHS nickel rockers - > 011-052 set

  • Excellent tone and playing!

  • nice tone

  • Texas Specials. But I highly recommend the Slider's custom vintage pickups. Hand made in Australia, the best I've ever tried. You can buy on eBay. I swapped the TXs out to Slider's in this guitar since then.

  • im hearing lately that the suhr fl pickups (favored by stratmen michael landau and scott henderson) are the toneliest vintage style single coils around.

  • Do you use the Ts9 for boost the vibroverb??

  • hey nice playing!

  • I couldn't response any better than you. That's it! Thank you my friend!

  • Man best Say what cover i've seen so far!!! What kind of wah u playing???

  • I really enjoyed that. Thanks :)

  • add some distortion to it man . its so fun when you hit those notes like at 1:20

  • You clearly don't know tone...

  • Actually, I do know tone. I say one little comment about adding a little more distortion to his tone, and i get furiously jumped with a comment assuming i don't know tone. Clearly, you are quick to judge.

  • Your right calm down it's just his opinion, and I agree a little more overdrive would be fitting. Not like he said he sounded bad LOL. Good job

  • No, really. It sounds great. He doesn't need anything else.

  • yes, its true. I think what i was trying to say in my last comment was to add some volume, haha. It really sounds great.

  • youplay great o_O

  • Szia Tomi,

i a pedál összekötési sorrend ilyen hangnál? WAH-TS9-erősítő? A Vibracucc az hova kerül a láncban? Nekem csak kórus pedálom van maiből hasonlo leslie hangot tudok. Szted milyen sorrendben kössem?

    Jól nyomod!

    üdv,Robi

  • what amp are you playing with and pedals? thanks great tone!

    SRV sound lives on!

  • that was not srv signature D:

  • yes it is an SRV Strat. 2005 model.

  • oh yea srry its true srry D:

  • Hey man, you've perfected the bend with vibrato technique, i've been workin on my vibrato with bends but still haven't gotten it down for the past year..... can you give me some tips.....should i build up my hand strength....do you use your hand muscles when you bend+vibrato?

  • This is the best SRV I've heard by far! I gotta ask, what model Crybaby are you using! I love the tone you're getting with this setup! Don't tell me it's a stock GCB-95 cuz I won't believe you! Sounds too good to be one of those!

  • Do you have some compression going on for the hammer-on, pull-offs in the beginning?

  • Nice Eric Tessmer shirt, and badass guitar and playing!

  • i'd love to see you play with chris layton, tommy shannon, and reese wynans.

i bet it would sound dang close to SRV and Double Trouble themselves.

  • thanks a lot! maybe someday :) that's my dream...

  • is this a real Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster.how does the guitar sound on a rock and metal setting....

  • yes it is. but I wouldn't use it for metal.

  • damn you're good!

  • Hi TommyKJr just found this video, it's just great, yeah you transmit the SRV spirit and love. It is very good that people like you makes covers from SRV, that's the idea, play the classics, then with that influence, take the music some place else, that's exactly what Stevie did with Hendrix. I know that there is only one SRV, as well as there is only one Mozart, but every time you play them, you make them live again, that's what makes them immortal.

  • Nice job!, and no perc or click! Steady on the beat all the way through!! Kudos!

    Soul to Soul

    Marie

  • try it on 13ga. strings lol, good job man!

  • great playing man!!awsome!!!what pedale are you using?i have to agree with Pinhead298 4 comments below.realy great!keep it up;)

  • awesome, but u should have tried a backing track

  • great tone srv! I check a pedale to touch the "texas flood" sound or "life without you"; can you tell me what it the best pedale for that;

    THKS

  • hey man are the letters "srv" normally filled in white? cause everytime i see a signiture strat its just a white outline of the letters. mabey its the pickguard shipping cover? because i like it alot more with the white fillin lol. iono stupid question

  • You got that distortion right, boy!!

  • great energy in your playing!

  • Keeping the legend alive that's what I say his playing all aobut!

  • Actually, I think it's the Vibrolux Reverb that's supposed to hiss. I like the look of this Vibroverb, but I'm not sure about a 15" speaker. How's that? Do you have to really drive it hard to get a decent sound out of it? Or does it sound good at low volumes clean too? I would love a Vibroverb Custom with 2x10's, that' be mint I reckon.

  • How do you like the Vibroverb? I heard they hiss. Is yours modded in anyway. I've had a PV Classic 50 for 9 years - awesome amp, but thinking about getting something smaller. Would you recommend the Vibroverb?

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • how do you get that wah tone?

  • Epic.

  • Indeed.

  • sehr gut :-)

  • i really like the sound of your guitar. badasss

  • killer. absolute killer...

  • this really is good i mean this made me smille just watching and that never happens to me thank you man for keping the blues alive man.

  • WTF! =_0 sounds just the same! That's great

  • crazy good, that's just unbeleivable

  • awesome dude!

  • That gave me goosebumps, well done! That was amazing!

  • please what effects are u using besides a wah?

  • did you change your tubes/bias on your vibroverb?

  • it has Fender GT tubes. I didn't change yet.

  • great fuckin remake man GREAT FUCKIN REMAKE

  • that was awesome dude, what wah peddle is that?

  • Pretty Damn good but you can only copy the great SRV but so much.I mean lets face it people there was only one SRV.However you do got the basic riffs and style down pretty good.

  • Thanks! I know well, there was only one Stevie, but you know, because he's gone a lot of people are trying to pay respect, and just like me playing some songs as a tribute to him. I don't wanna be Stevie, and can't be, nobody can be, but I love him a lot and to play his music! He's much more like a master to me. He has to live forever. Otherwise, I have my own music too, and I'm working on my own style too. It takes time but, I'm still young you know. Thanks again.

  • Dude, he does a wonderful job expressing his taste in music; more importantly - love and appreciation for what Stevie meant to so many people on and off stage. Musician, or person.

"...basic riffs, or style dosn"? LOL! Dude, why don't you post a "more advanced" version.

  • quit hating.

  • As impressed as I am with your spot-on rendition of this song, I am TOTALLY blown away by your Wah-Wah technique. As close to the original as anyone I've ever seen. What a huge difference it makes in this song especially when you get the emphasis on just the right notes. Awesome!

  • I love this video. I just got the SRV strat and it is amazing isn't it?!

  • I see you are wearing an Eric Tessmer Band shirt, I saw them on 6th street one time, another awesome band! Great Playing BTW...

  • stevie plays it on the neck pick up too...

  • Man, crazy that I haven't come across you on YouTube yet! I am truely impressed. Your bending is DEAD on. You play AMAZING! I am very envious! :) You play an insane SRV. Wow!

  • believe it or not SRV uses 2 wahs on this song so you'd have to add another one in to get the exact tone he gets. btw awesome job

  • wow dude, you're good.

  • lol are you on speed. im just kidding man. that was exactly dead on, everything.

  • great jamming and nice axe too.

  • what gage strings are you using?

  • Usually .011 D'addario sets. I change the low E string to a .054 or .056

  • I'm thinking of moving up to .11's. How long did it take you to get used to the bends on thicker strings?

  • Don't mean to step on any toes, but since no one answered, I thought I'd put in my $0.02 ... The thicker strings don't take long to get used to, you just find yourself playing harder, and putting more effort into bending, since bending is dictated by the ears (at least it should be), you just end up bending harder to reach the notes you want to hit. You will need some time to adapt though, since your hand will tire sooner.

  • Thanks man.

  • may I ask you, how much did this guitar cost you?

here in Chile the value of an artist Series Strat of SRV costs $1.570.900 pesos, way the hell too much!

  • You know, I was very lucky with it, because it was a gift from my best friend. But anyway it has the same price that you wrote. Check out eBay auctions, you'll find one cheaper for sure. :)

  • Hey bro, sorry to bother you again man but could you tell me what strings you use? Brand and guage, that is? I'd appreciate it!

  • No problem :)

I'm using usually .011-.049 D'addario set, but I change the bass string to .054 or .056

I'm thinking about to change the high E to .012. That'd be good for the sound.

  • I just bought some DR Pure Blues 100% nickel strings, they sound very texas even on my Tex Mex pickups. They would sound so unbelieveably kickass on that axe, you have to try them man!

  • Yeah, I made some stickers and put on the engraved letters. They're now pretty worn, but I don't wanna make new. :)

  • This maybe is the best SRV cover I've ever seen here. Very nice play man! Keep the good work!

    PD: Are you Stevie? :^P

  • Thanks brother, appreciate that!!

  • thats some seriously nice playing man, my hats of to you. just wondering out of curiousity though, do you think theres any advantage to having the whammy bar upside down. i know thats how stevie had it but how does it feel when playing.

  • To me it seems like it should be that way normally it gets in the way less though the drawback is it makes it a lil difficult to tremolo with finesse during chords. but then again thats just me

  • What happens when you combine two TubeScreamer pedals? Could someone please explain it to me?

  • You realize that I would do practically anything in the world to play like you can. I have the upmost respect for you. I've been playing for alittle over one year, and play texas blues improv 3 hours a day on my strat, hopefully I'll get this good someday...

How long have you been playing man?

  • Thanks bro! I play since I was 7, now I'm 23.

Keep playing, never give up! Saw some of your videos, you'll be great player!

  • Wow, You've got the experience =). Thanks for the encouragement man!

Do you use two TS's like SRV did? I ordered a TS9 and a BD-2 and compared the two and returned the TS9 and kept the boss...don't tell me you're using a TS9 haha!

  • Well, yes I'm using two TS as you thought :)

I use a vintage TS9 and a TS10, a bit different sound. Both of them has the JRC4558 chip. I used a Blues Driver too for a long time, but I prefer the TS, because it sounds better with the Vibroverb amp. Anyway the BD-2 is a good pedal, very warm overdrive. Oh yes, if you have a chance, try out the Boss OD-3 overdrive, it's quite good I think. What kind of amp do you use?

  • I use a deville 2x12 60watt. Fantastic amp, but the drive channels are sub par, you know?

Sweet, I'll look into the OD-3 the next time i'm at guitar center. It annoys me that I can't test it out at the proper volumes in the public store though.

I've been thinking about getting some texas specials to replace my tex mex...but I'm not sure its worth it.

  • Deville is great amp, but I had the same problem with the overdrive channel too. Tex Mex pickups are good, but I think the Texas Specials work better for the Stevie style sound.

  • Yeah man it's quite amazing the way you are using the wah-wah.Incredible sound.I just wanted to ask you're opininon guys which wah-wah is better vox or crybaby?

  • dunlop crybaby,all the way.

  • I want this guitar. Where can you find it. BTW amazing video.

  • omg! that sounded just like it! your amazing!

    5 starzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you should get the pickguard removed and get something for you instead srv

  • I got this guitar from my best friend as a gift, so I'll never change anything on it. Otherwise, that guitar means Stevie to me. His spirit lives in it and I feel it. Someday I'll buy a guitar which will be my number one. It's my Stevie you know...

  • wow, youre very lucky to have someone that is you friend enough to spend almost $2000 on a guitar for you,I respect that though.

  • awsome very good

  • i like the way the whammy bar is in a different spot

  • awesome man! sounds just like it! useing a cry baby?

  • Look at the video description. :P

  • that's pretty bitchin

  • Sweet dude!

  • that wah sounds like shit but other than that, kudos

  • you need another wah to get th real sound of the song

  • really sounds like stevie

  • are those 13 guage strings??? lol

  • Hey im pretty sure his config is a vibroverb with a tube screamer, wah, and a leslie, i basically have the same setup except with a deluxe reverb.

  • Pretty kool, man! Great tone! And that's a pretty sweet axe, 2. I got 2 try 1's those at a guitar center once and i thot it was awesome. Keep playin'!

  • i love your tone...

can you tell me what is your config?

    amp-distortion-crybaby-guitar

    or

    amp-crybaby-distortion-guitar

greetings from Chile.... voodoo Chile :P

  • Just BRAVOOOO !!!!!

  • true dat

  • where do babies come from?

  • Very good, very good. Keep up the chops, you're doing fine! Good tone, too :)

  • Keep playing brother...sounds good...flush the critics down the toilet...

  • legit man! SOUL TO SOUL!!

  • sounds killer man....keep jammin!

  • dude man love it but where did u get the song tab

  • I just reicently picked myself up my srv sig strat and a ts-808 original aswell, and yeah the ibanez tubescreamer helps alot with emulating a srv tone, compression, sustain and just the rite drive i love it, and yeah texas specials help too :P, but nah tommys got a good thing goin on, alot of tone is also made through ur fingers and string size, but like they say 30% of its gear the rest is skill and how u attack it.

  • Right on!
