Wow! After watching countless photography videos on YouTube, I am blown away by this one. Great, easy, inexpensive tips for the average joe photographer. Thanks!
@LBCwriter1 Yes, here is my Amazon page with photo tips and a link at the bottom to a list of equipment I carry in my camera bag: amazon (dot com) erinmanning
@007xyzzy Thank you! :-) I co-produced and hosted an educational DVD that is included with my Home Studio Lighting Kit on Photo Basics dot net. One of the videos from that DVD is on this youtube page entitled "Get Creative."
When I was in Costa Rica, my tour guide told me about that sunglasses tip! I had some brown tinted sunglasses that I used to take a picture of the sunset with, it turned out great!
Erin , i really loved your tips , soooo handy and good , thank you i am going to use them all . hope to get more videos from you , THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE WITH US .
yes, the sunglasses works! before i saw this video i had a G7. only ND's built in, but i had my ray-bans. so it worked like a charm. i never knew anyone would come up with that other than me. but i guess im no the only one anymore.
It's hard to tell - what are you shooting and in what type of light? I'm going to guess that you're shooting in low light or your subject is backlit. The video on compact cameras isn't as sophisticated as a full blown video cam and cannot make adjustments to the light. Make sure you have enough light (see your subject clearly) when composing your shot in the viewfinder.
It's a Canon Powershot SD800 IS. Great little camera with a 2.5" LCD and an optical viewfinder too. 3.8 optical zoom and 7MP. It's easy to use and quite durable, I've dropped it about 3 times....and I'm pretty tall. I think my next point and shoot will be a Canon SD870 IS, it has a 3" LCD. Woo hoo!
Good idea - the best camera to have is the one you have with you. Sometimes a dSLR just isn't practical, like on the dance floor, or out to dinner, or...where ever!
I would also recommend a 400D or Digital Rebel XTi. It is a great camera for the money, and it is the one I use. You should check out my videos. I think you would like them.

Erin, I'm convinced! now you only need to tell me which handbag would suit a balding middle aged male... (not pink though, I hate pink!) :)
