@TeamCatfish1 i live in maryland right on a river close to the bay, the water is very muddy and in mid to late may we have about 2 weeks of bullhead catfish attack on our lines. its nonstop they're small though so i go to the channel to get the big flat heads and blues. not much luck on worms. i was thinking about trying some cut blue gill bait. should i go live? or cut.

Thats no fun though they get small fish with rods but then they hook them on the line and leave em there. All they have to do is pick the fish up with the net. theres no excitment.

Do you eat them? Catfish are good eaten specially casian fried catfish. Have you ever tried chicken liver for catfish? we use to puree chicken livers and put a songe on the hook and soak up the chicken liver juice in the sponge, last for awhile and not as messy as actually put junks of chicken liver on the hook, largest I caught was a 22 lb Blue of this technique.

Blues will bite it. Really Big blues will prefer fresh cut bait most of the time though. I have caught blues up to 40 lbs on Secret 7. Flatheads dont like it.

@TeamCatfish1 once catfish get to a certain age/size they stop scavenging for dead food and start hunting live prey. big blues will still take an easy meal, but flatheads eat almost entirely live food.

want a monster flathead? catch a bullhead catfish, clip his pectoral fins off, and the spike on his back. then hook him through the tail just below the adipose fin with an 8/0 circle hook, and finally toss him on the upriver side of a wing dam on the edge of the slack water.
