  • well done! cool switch between instruments, liked electric parts best, acoustic part was not as strong as the electric, I think.

  • Excellent rendition... and fierce electric playing on the outro ! Thanks for posting. Cheers, Jim

  • one of my fav. genesis riffs, I worked out the guitar part on my bass

  • great job mam, but i think that it would sound better on a classical guitar (the acoustic part)

  • Great job. You nailed the tone on the electric part perfectly.

  • talented so talented! Why am I so untalented? me with my grey hair, my 6 chords, ingrown toenail and 4kids who only want to play football? Is it because I am Irish or do I blame my parents?

  • blame your parents!

  • what distortion did you use? =)

  • Congratulations from Venezuela man !!! Very good job. Keep on working.

  • From Venezuela . . . . Congratulations man !!. Good job.

  • good job

  • your a very talented guitarist.i really enjoyed this.*****

  • Beautifully done.

  • Ah, sei italiano? Complimenti vivi.

  • BRAVO!!!!GREAT!!!Me he basado en tu video para crear el mio propio.Espero que no te moleste. Thanks for your idea!

Amazing Cover for a brilliant song!

  • Great work...the electric could use some delay but otherwise perfect.

  • well done, a great job, good on yer. loved it.. gary.

  • Great job on this song!! Bravo!!

  • hey..nice job..! but did you play and records the other instruments too, or is it a midi file?

if you like, take a look to our complete version..you can even have a funny moment, with an awful wrong piano chord! :) bye bye..

  • it's a midi file I found on the web to which I "deleted" the guitar parts...

  • okay, seems like this ended up in typical brittish university debate, noone is right but everyone has a voice. This is my pure opinion; when Gabriel was replaced by Collins (even though, they both were in the band for some time together) the original Genesis sound disappeared, and with Hackett the arangement started lacking as well. Somehow Banks just became a shadow, which is a pity. His music is amazing!

To conclude: Genesis is Genesis 1:1

  • Great , Thanks

  • A beautiful piece of music from the time when Genesis were the strangest and most wonderful band in the world. Nicely played, sir. Well done!!

  • Very nice! Even have the distinctive Hackett tone on the electric.

  • Sublime rendition... As a sincere Genesis connoisseur, one enjoys these interpretations by musicians and admirers of Genesis' music around the world (e.g., Mirko Pirozzi), and glancing at comments that so passionately disdain the later Genesis oeuvre, one wonders why the entire body of work (1969-present) cannot be cherished in all its infinite and exquisite diversity.

  • The renaissance of my adolescent age! Thanks for renewing that particular dreaming sound!

    Lino from Italy

  • I have to say once Gabriel left it wasnt the same and then when Hackett left it was not even worth listenin to their stuff anymore sooi would say Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb Lies Down albums were the best. . . but this cat fucken nailed the outro of that cd awesome job dude

  • Always loved this piece of music very folky and elizebethan..

  • i know what i like and i like this alot..and love the guitar switch iplay the drums to this track alot from selling england...thanks wish i could have been there..

  • Niceeee...

  • selling england by the pound... I love that album! nice job, my compliments! ^_^

  • I'd like to recommend you the video of the project Transfinite posted here in youtube. It's only a short song but I know the the project and it's very cool. nAcoustic remembering some Hackett things.

  • Nice cover from the days when Genesis were producing the most beautiful music of their career (1971-74).

'Invisible Touch'? - More like 'Utter Shit'

  • shut the fuck up tony, stop talking shit. when phil took over the band turned into crap playing pop music dont you get it, at that age they did it for the money asshole not for the music FOR THE MONEY!! when the band started with peter gabriel and steve hacket everything was different, they didnt care about the money the wanted to write good songs like firth of fith, i know what i like, musical box etc. so think before you talk asshole full of puke semi digested shit

  • genesis would have died if phil did not takeover, sqonk is a good song, good bye peter, your good for your music but not genesis

  • So for an artist to make money is always wrong?! Look at the people at the top getting paid big bucks nowadays -- at least Genesis were always fairly creative (in my opinion, anyway). A lot of us came into their music after the 5-man era and that's what got us into looking up the older material, which is the top-notch creme de la creme (again, my opinion.) ..I mean, just try to name 5 bands who kept playing the same shit (or same genre) for about forty years?...

  • Rael stands astonished doubting his site, strocked by beauty

  • gripped in fright!

  • Three vermillion snakes of female face; the smallest motion filled with grace...

  • Oh yes... Well said

  • Great! great! great! thaks folk. this is the esence of genesis music.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, let me present Genesis, as it should be,... Tony Banks, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and Peter Gabriel

  • Very true!

  • when phil took over he made genesis the great band they are today, when peter was there the music sound like make it up as you go,

  • Keep on taking the tablets...

  • You are a fucking idiot. The old material has little to no improvisation at all. The standard of composition is so involved and technically precise that your observations make no sense. Tony banks, the main songwriter, and Steve Hackett, are both classically trained musicians. I am pretty sure you are either joking or retarded. Please, leave the internet, and never come back.

  • you are sick if you put phil collins out of the band. i love all their albums btw except maybe the first and last.

  • I think Phil is a brilliant drummer, perfect for Genesis. I personally like all Genesis music, but for differing reasons - the creativity faded away once Peter and Steve had left the band, though. Selling England and The Lamb were awe-inspiring pieces of work, and this is a wonderful cover of a wonderful song. :)

  • I ve seen Genesis in London in July and they were hopeless: ashamed to play what made them great. Great interpretation of one of the best.

  • Wow! your interpretation is brillant. One of my favorite song on Selling England.Hackett on guitar Banks on piano, those were the days.

  • absolutely agree, my buddy. Those were the VERY VERY days.

  • wait, wait....I think that was Steve Hackett getting out of his chair whistling and applauding....

    truly,........wonderful job...

btw....I think I hear Mike Rutherford crying... Mike,...Mike,...get back here, you gotta hear this guy....I'm sorry for the interruption, I'll be back soon, I have to go get Rutherford....he said something about a tissue or something....ciao!

  • God! sounds great. I will touch.

    Sorry 4 my english. xD

  • The Guitar Master is done great honour with your contributions. Thanks for sending chivers down the spine of another true Hackett fan.

  • Thanks to you for the very nice comment, I'm honored of having achieved that emotional link, probably indeed the quality which let Steve standing out of the crowd...

  • I'd say you've nailed it perfectly! Arguably their best LP (remember those?) ever. Saw Hackett LIVE at the N.E.A.R.fest in Trenton,N.J. in 2002.:)

  • Did you find the file on UltimateGuitar?

  • Peer2peer...

  • It sounds very similar to the tab I uploaded on that site... anyway, good job!

  • Love it, well done mate. Who's playing the backing?

  • thanks, It's a GuitarPro4 file I just found on the net

  • this is realy hurts

  • Wow, that was a breath of fresh air ! Wonderful cover of a wonderful song.I´ve uploaded a couple of solo Hackett tunes you may enjoy. Thanks again - great job.

  • Thanks John, checked your Hackett tunes, they're great...good to find more Hackett fans out there ;-)

  • Underrated Genesis track. Brilliant cover job.

  • thanks, indeed underrated, probably because entirely instrumental...

  • Sounds great, loved it.

  • nice, nice, nice, great touch

  • More practice, feelthemyth? Sounds pretty excellent to me. I like the quick acoustic/electric change. Good job.

  • Hey troubleclef, I'm honoured to get a positive comment by a great guitarist like you, thanks.

  • need more practice..

  • I love this song, as you can see I did a version too.

  • great stuff! 5 stars!
