  • Reminds me of secret of mana.

  • great tune! I love this game too!

  • Oh wow, awesome! I played this game and loved the music in it~ Your description of this game fits perfectly. I don't think I ever beat either one... ran out of lives by the end. :|

  • That's not a chiptune, buddy.

  • Ok list I guess, missed a lot of good ones. For more modern chiptunes check out la-mulana and VVVVVV though.

  • @zombierobopirate Thanks for watching and leaving so many comments! Another game that has great "modern chiptunes" would be Rocket Riot. And I know there are a few good ones missing. I'm actually thinking of revisiting this list, and Rename it "Top X Classic VGTunes" to fix the technical error and make it consistent with my other list.

  • @vyse19861 Hehe glad to do it. Hopefully they weren't too negative, I realize people have different tastes but I tend to be a bit too opinionated when it comes to VG music =P. You reminded me of a lot of good ones that I don't have on my playlist though (lufia ftw)!

  • @zombierobopirate Don't worry, I always appreciate criticism if it's intelligently worded. Everyone has unique opinions, especially with music, so it's no big deal really. And I know you still liked the list because you took the time to listen to all 50 tunes. :P

  • Chiptunes are songs that use instruments generated by the chips themselves. SNES is completely sample based.

  • Loved this game! But boy was it brutal on the more difficult settings. I remember my best friend and I popping it in for the first time and getting waxed in the first level. I remember saying, "We just got our asses kicked by a game called Pocky and Rocky." It became a catchphrase for many years.

  • I thought Turbo-Grafx 16 was the last of the chiptunes. Oh well.

  • i love this game, i hated the lab world that was a lab with a vampire at the end of the stage.

Favorite battle song is the one from the battle with the first boss and the chapel death one.

  • omg i love it xD

  • Great song!

  • ;-; Ohhh nostalgia. I grew up with this game and now I have to go hunt down an emulator to see if I can get any farther than the raft part now.

  • Really nice song! Played this game yesterday, and i loved the music! gotta download
