  • Thanks for posting this with the pix. I had a "56 orange & white Montcliar with continental kit like you show. It's 312 only got 8 mpg for my 17 yr old wallet, but what a chick magnet! Wish i'd have just kept it in a garage!

    Again, --a great post!

  • Thanks for posting this with the pix. I had a "56 ornge & black Montcliar with continental kit like you show. It's 312 only got 8 mpg for my 17 yr old wallet, but what a chick magnet! Wish i'd have just kept it in a garage!

  • LOL i hadnt logged in in forever and was wondering why someone would reply that im an idiot. I forgot and left my screen name logged in on my nephews computer. He is opbessed with his cougar.

  • my dad built a 50 merc chopped, channeled, and off body resteration, a 396 big block engine with crome , turbo 400 tranny and a possy traction with a slip diferential to make the car go and custom features every were it was beautiful!!!!!

he was planning to do the inside himself all custom upholstery. After all tht we were just left wit the pictures :( bt i still love classic cars epecially that merc!!!

  • We are two Mercurys strong - two '62 Meteors!!!

  • Just think- soon as the damned gov't idiots, criminal insurance companies,

crooked corporations and corrupt "EPA" are dissolved, the U.S. can go back

to digging IRON out the ground, re-opening factories & steel mills & hiring

    OUR OWN workers back!

Then we can build the kind of cars WE want again, not the JUNK that's been

forced on us by the crooks listed above for the last 40 years.

Its really that simple. THAT is what RUINED the U.S. auto industry.

TIME TO TAKE IT ALL BACK, AMERICA!

  • My Dad had a '63 Merc Monteray Breezeway. What a cool car. My brother and I took turns laying on the shelf above the backseat with the rear window down while Dad was cruisin. Seat belts be damned ........ thank God we survived. I wish I had that car now. It was white with two tone interior and a 490 maurader engine with dual exhausts and it sounded great and hauled ass. They don't make 'em that anymore.

  • Yeah nice work!!!

  • My dad had '56 Montclair, loaded! 312, 4-barrel, duel exhausts. Man, that thing sounded good. When I think of him, I think of a big, fearsome dude in a fedora, smiling ear to ear because his ride was so cool. Mercurys were very fine, from the flathead to the 429 Marauder. Like the Olds and Pontiac, they'll be back, but not soon.

  • I'm sad to see Mercury go too. Part of the problem with them recently was they weren't distinct enough from the Fords. I have an '08 Sable, if you look at it real hard you can see the influence of the '49 in the grill and fender lines. I'd love to customize it, drop an Eco-Boost in it, lower it, add rear wheel skirts, dual exhaust, suicide rear doors.

  • I HAVE 4 OF THEES CARS. THIS IS A DAM GOOD SONG BY HIM

  • Good song:D

  • Im 11 and this song is good lol

  • Dad had a '56 I think it was. I would have been 8 Y.O.. He came to pick us up with it at the train station when we came back from grampa & grammas in Ky. After about 3 years it was a total rust bucket here around Detroit. Sure was a pretty car when it was new though.

  • besides Crown Victoria is Mercury great!

  • The first car in this video is a 1957 "Turnpike Cruiser" with the rear window that rolled down. Always been a "Ford Man" and really think it's a shame that they've shut down the brand. I had a '72 Comet GT and currently have a 2003 Grand Marquis. Was hoping to get a 2011 Milan Hybrid, but guess I'll have to settle for a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. R.I.P. Mercury ;-(

  • There's nothing like that beautiful heavy Detroit metal from the classic 1950s! They are just great looking cars.

One of my favorites is the middle 1960s Mercury with the "breezeway window". This was where the back window was an electric power window and with a push of a button could be lowered for a really great breeze. What a cool idea that was.

  • @eddiebatmv I love the classic lines of the '49 Mercury - they just flow!

  • How many people thought of this song when they heard that Ford was canceling Mercury

  • ..sad to see yet another ICON of the AMERICAN HIGHWAY say goodbye...never owned one but always liked them ...most especially the older ones

    piv

  • My daddy had a Mercury back the year I was born!! Just sayin'.

  • We've all got the REAL Mercury Blues now that Ford has announced the closure of Mercury brand.

  • thanks for posting this. --- instead of dropping mercury, why doesn't ford make them interesting again?

  • all the full-sized mercs from 1949-1983 was built in st louis mo at the hazelwood plant which opened in 1948 and closed in 2005 after the mercs some lincolns and some fords they built the areostar with pride and then in 1995 they built the exporler

  • The '82 Mercury Grand Marquis had the 5.0 V8 & I put dual glasspacks & exhaust on her. Then, my "LOVELY" cuzins used to have a '82 Mercury Capri, brother to the Ford Mustang with 5.0 V8, 4 speed, & a whole lot of pretties under the hood!

  • sorry fans ---Steve Miller turned me on ----and I am crazy ----crazy 'bout a Mercury -----

  • I want one of those there damm Mercurys

  • as much as I love these cars. I can't see them handling the snow very well

  • Them old cars are so beautiful!

  • Love the wagon!!

  • Thanks! Very well done with a nice full gamut of all the great Mercs! My dad had a 55 and later a 56 (which he still has out in his field). It was my favorite car growing up. My first vehicle in 1975 was a '47 coupe like the one in your video at 2:49, the add. Glad to know someone loves big "M" s as much as I do! Thanks again for the memories!

  • Great video. My first car was a '68 Merc Monterey. 390 4 bbl. Smoothest, quietest engine and just an overall great lookin car. Wish I still had it. Who's pictures are the ones of the hot dog stand with the 1960 mercury convertible and the '60 dodge in it?

  • can you give me the lyrics???

  • I bought a 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser in 1968 in Santa Monica California, she had power everything including the back window and power lube. Also had a Birdcage Holly carb, wish I still had that car.

  • yup yup very nice. great song!!!!

  • whitewalls. nice

  • I'm the owner of 2 Mercurys a 57 and a 65. The new ones don't have class anymore.

  • You can say that again. Does any of them. It use to be a ford was a ford was a ford and a merc was a merc was a merc. Of course then there was the Edsel. No mistaking my baby.

We have a saying. "you can spot an edsel from a mile away. Who notices your car?"

  • Too bad to new ones dont even register on the scale of class.

  • my first car was a '49 merc

    yes, I am really old

  • that cab was a crown victoria, not a mercury.

  • Turn indicators ---> ---> lololol

My new favorite version of this classic song.
