Level 2 is the mediative state the immortals, in Zardoz, use to communicate with each other and be One,(with the Tabernacle) in a futuristic state of consciousness. Sean Connery sets about getting into and destroying the immortals society and the Tabernacle and with it, Level 2. He represents the unknowable anomaly in nature that no one can predict that makes it way into our cosy thinking. I'm sensing you are already on Level 2. Best of luck, keep broadcasting.
I think what the film represents to me, can sound a bit negative but as a rather fantastical tale about (amongst other things), control of the environment and of the natural cycle of life and death, the film is a telling fable about the dangers of collective arrogance. (And of cause, a warning against a return to the kitsch costumes and whigged-outness of the 70's).
It was indeed a cautionary tale, as a dystopia usually represents the worst of a good idea gone to the absurd level. I thought it was ground-breaking when it came out, and continue to marvel at it thru the years. For me, it represents the need for the outsider -- to balance or rebalance the world gone arrogant as humans gain too much control and lose their connection to the great wheel of karma. I chuckle at your thoughts on the costumes, and the 70's. I came of age during the 70's, fondness...
It is amazing how people can communicate on this site - you don't have to buy an expensive spot on TV to get your thoughts heard by the world. What's also strange is how in just over a year, this has become normal to everyone. It really makes you wonder about the future.
Zardoz always struck me as a movie where every nuance of the film was somehow influenced by mind altering chemicals..hah. But enough of that noise, I feel that while technology and the internet give people a voice to be heard, each individual voice is drowned out in the multitude of voices so in the end, you have the same effect not getting heard. Interesting that.
Community, my friend. We are heard within a community and now for the first time that community is international, randomly aquired, and face to face while not being in the same space. Those communities have interactions, such that information spreads and others view others where never was coverage before. I see an opportunity for aggregates, and for the little guy. We are at the start of the evolution, what will we have in 200 years?
Your right. Youtube is amazing. Mass media's Kmart? Things that used to be expensive, (getting a message out to the world), now inexpensive. Simple easy. It is a wow moment.
ZARDOZ speaks to you, the chosen ones. You have been raised up from brutality. To free life from the filth and corruption that quiet your great gifts from your God.
Go forth, use voice, camera, and You Tube. Be renegade and shoot seeds of VideoDrome on the apathetics that roam the vast wastelands. Learn all that I am, and be free. Join us, the immortal ones.
Absolutely right. What interested me was the seamless integration of technology in an agrarian-based society. Sci-fi is always a what-if. Parts of any tale can have positive impact on our lives. Many aspects of Star Trek and such have been the inspiration for scientists to create something like what they saw (or read).
Zardoz? ... hmmm don't know what that is/was ... but I liked your vlog non-the-less. Put your voice out there, let others hear you. YouTube is a great site, and I also wish it was availble to me when I was a teen! Keep vlog'n on!
Zardoz is a movie. With Sean Connery and Charlotte Rampling - back in the (I think) 1960s. Great little sci-fi flick with a fun sense of both humor and the futility of overly-planned communities. I especially liked the instant communication device - crystal rings. Thanks for the encouragement.
Actually the movie was from 1974, If you do a search on Zardoz there are a couple of clips in YouTube. None show the technological aspects that I liked, but see the movie - it's great.
That (below) has gone to the wrong place.

Thanks for explaining level 2. Been a while since I last saw the movie. I need a moment of true meditation, thanks for reminding me.

It'll be interesting to see where YT leads. Hopefully with more citizen awareness, who knows maybe the pols will start to behave better.

Difficult to predict how it will evolve. I imagine it will be commercialized as much as possible. Be used as a way to target consumers.

Ave back at ya! Zardoz was witty, wise, thought-provoking, and fun to look at. One of the best of the 70's films. Tell me what you liked about it?

Zardoz was about a DYSTOPIA, not a "utopia" and nothing less than a warning about such technology and the inhumanity...
