@washingtonboy09 people can turn anything in to something it is not , if this was a symbol of hate the flag would have been outlawed following the war .... i see this flag as an American symbol and of heritage , we need to get over the racism already and stop playing the race card .

If you want to find out what the confederacy stood for, read the articles of Confederacy, the Confederate constitution, and the writings of Jefferson Davis. Then you will know that the Confederacy was all about slavery, and that Jefferson Davis had the ambition of a dictator. Free Speech? Not in the Confederacy. If you were an abolitionist or a suspected Northern Sympathizer, you'd be arrested without trial, just on a suspicion.

Jefferson Davis is not a great hero. He was a hitler wannabe.

The Confederate Battle flag represents Southern traitors, willing to fight against the United States and to preserve slavery AND Southern aristocracy.

You can ignore history all you want and put up all the "Heritage not Hate" bumper stickers that you bought at Wal-Mart, but that wont change the fact that this is a racist flag brought to battle by this countries greatest traitors.

You're lying to yourself if you think this flag doesnt have everything to do with slavery and bigotry. It's as if I decided one day the German Nazi flag now stands for Green Party ideals, completely ignoring the historic and political roots.

The CSA was FOUNDED on white racial superiority; you only have to look at the writings of CSA/VP Stephans and CSA/Pres Davis. Not to mention the articles of secession from SC and other states that SPECIFICALLY notes slavery as the reason for secession.
