  • can anyone tell me what instrument is he playing in the ending fade ?

  • 2:36 "Sup niggaz i'm a singer" xDD

  • Where is 8:48 ?

  • [CD STORE] = 3 albums for the price of 2

me: "oh cool! lets see..hmmm..machine head, trivium..what more?..got stone sour, got dream treather, got porcupine tree, etc...Opeth, is it good? my friends got it but never heard it..ok i'll take it!"

..i got home listened to Watershed album and my life changed! LOVE OPETH!

the vocals changing, the instruments and the ending of this song..AMAZING!

    "Epic Haunting Masterpiece!"

  • really want to get into opeth... which album would you recommend to get first?

  • @jimguitarman27 Blackwater Park. However, all of their albums are great for different reasons. Blackwater Park is just very balanced. It has the best parts of Opeth, all in one album.

  • @jimguitarman27 Ghost Reveries or Blackwater Park.

  • @jimguitarman27 pffffbt, Don't listen to everyone else.. go for Still Life, by far my favorite album.

  • @jimguitarman27 watershed, ghost reveries or blackwater park

  • @jimguitarman27 Blackwater Park! Ghost Reveries! Still Life! Or Watershed.

  • @jimguitarman27 Morningrise kick the most!

  • the fact this made it into a videogame restores my faith in humanity...barely.

  • 45 people are stuck in a route of confusion.

  • Good god, this is my favorite type of metal. Melodic then Heavy.

  • Oh my God at 5:49 This guys are freakin awesome!!!!!

  • WATERSHED was Opeth's last BEST album.

  • this guy sounds like my arse after ive had a bad curry

  • @undeaddread if ya dont like it why are you here?

  • Insanity from SWEDEN.

  • Saints Row The Third brings me here o.O

  • This is benign and irrelevant claptrap; an utterly nugatory fusion of 70s prog and black metal that the Hot Topic kids will just gobble up. If you listen to this band, do the world a favor: buy a chain wallet with skulls on it and hang yourself.

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY

You're quite the little troll, aren't you?

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY Thats funny, I highly doubt any hot topic poser will even remotely know who this is.

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY I dont mind you trolling just use a different name while doing that because i feel your besmirching the real Mike Portnoy with your" dumbassness", by the way you spelled it wrong too.

  • 0:50 .....fuck yea

  • i tear up the gym to this song

  • watershed was the first opeth album i heard and i've since become a huge fan of all their work.

  • 5:49 is like funky haunted house music or something lol...so sick

  • i love the ending, so original

  • The intro of the song is beautiful! But the other parts were awesome! And the ending is also beautiful too!

  • Awesome

  • Heavy as fuck.

  • All years caring for a liar.

    Benefit road is winding higher.

You're a moth to close to the fire.<333

  • 5:49 , no words to describe this.

  • @mjonas10 Shut up, you motherfuckin son of a slutty whore. You are the place where the SUCKAGE start.

  • i love this song just because of the switch between clean and growled vocals and how it happens so quickly lol

  • It hurts that they didn't play this or any heavy songs when I saw them over a month ago.

  • The ending fade out is especially creepy to me. When I was a kid and I had high fevers when I was sick, I'd have auditory hallucinations that sounded just like that. No "voices telling me to do things," just an eerie, unintelligible collection of speech, laughter, and whispers all around me, just like at the end of this song.

  • @thehonorablereese I have bipolar disorder and its just like that too. Especially if I run out of meds. More reason for me to identify with Opeth!

  • @philemonpersing dude..sometimes i feel like modern society suffers from bipolar disorder..no mean to disrespect yours! take care and keep identifying with Opeth,it is really worth the trying :) ! peace !

  • @thehonorablereese children's mind is so pure :) now u ll have to eat shroomz to not even get close to such effect :)

  • @hedlik No thanks man, that shit was scary. I'm really glad I rarely get sick and it rarely happens anymore!

  • @thehonorablereese i have the same thing when going through alcohol withdrawels and also terrirying screams i also saw graphic images of gore when id try to sleep during the withdrawls.

  • @deicidaldemon Oh yeah, alcohol is absolutely the worst drug to to withdraw from as far as symptoms: worse than crack, meth, or heroin. I'm a nurse and as far as I know, it's the only drug that can kill you if you withdraw from it cold turkey.

  • @thehonorablereese Excuse me, but did you feel at the time that these voices were not of your own mind? Like they were disembodied? I ask because I had a similar experience, years ago.

  • @jadethevirginqueen They sounded like they were "around" me, not echoing inside my head, if that's what you mean, but they weren't coming from any certain thing or direction. Another thing I would hear is crawling and screeching insects and shrill or creepy music (again, much like the ending to this Opeth song). I won't even talk about the visual or tactile hallucinations I had. It made it all the scarier because I was just a kid and I didn't know what was going on.

  • @thehonorablereese I see. When I was a very young boy, I once lay down in bed, still fully awake, and heard some maniacal laughter coming from a few voices just a few inches away from my ear. At least that's what it felt like. It's the only time I've ever experienced it. Any ideas as to what it might be?

  • @jadethevirginqueen Yep. Lots of young kids have "night terrors". You'll see or hear scary things even if you're not asleep. Sometimes you'll remember what you saw/heard, sometimes you won't. Usually people grow out of it. I had them when I was a kid too. There was an old wall heater in my room that made a lot of noise and glowed red, and a few times as I got sleepy, I thought it was laughing evilly and shooting out sparks.

  • @thehonorablereese Night terrors? I'm familiar with the concept, but I was under the impression it happened in at least SOME form of sleep.

  • @jadethevirginqueen I guess "not asleep" is a little inaccurate. Night terrors can happen as you are barely going to sleep or about to wake up, although I believe they can happen when you are all the way asleep as well. Otherwise, if you are completely asleep, it's a nightMARE not a night TERROR.

Either that or you may have simply heard something as you were falling asleep and transitioning into dreaming, but you thought you were still awake. That's happened to me a lot.

  • @thehonorablereese Interesting. Perhaps this is something I should look into. Thank you so much for your time.

  • @jadethevirginqueen No problem man. I hope you don't have any of those frightening experiences anymore!

  • @thehonorablereese Heh. Thanks for the wishes. I've experienced it only once, about 15 years ago. It wasn't even something very disturbing, but I do remember it today because it's the closest thing I've experienced to paranormal activity, so to speak. I wish the same for you.

  • @jadethevirginqueen i was hallucinating too when i had high fevers.. actually i had visual hallucinations.. and i also had hallucinations when i was awake for more than 24 hours

  • @hoffimm Good points, both, but those are both apparent causes of these hallucinations. I appreciate the solidarity, so to speak, but I don't know quite what caused my, shall we say, symptoms, as I was not sick, and I was going to bed at my normal time.

  • @thehonorablereese sounds creepy dude

  • @sotflicka Yeah it sucks, especially when you're a kid and you don't know what's going on. I'd forgotten about it for a while but the ending of this song really brought back the scary memories.

  • @thehonorablereese I have only had high fever one time in my life, i was around 12 years old and i was hearing those voices too!

I remember asking my mom, "Mom, can you please turn down the television" She told me the television wasn't even on and that the house was dead silence.. Fever is scary :D

  • @thehonorablereese Dude same thing with me it always sounded like a people were calling my name from all directions and freaked me out big time

  • SCREAM MORE

  • favourite song on saints row the third

  • @itsnotacorndog REALLY? Do they actually have it. lol

  • guys vocal range is amazing, sounds like the angel and devil on his shoulder take turns singing.

  • 0:22 Blast engage!

  • Best metal band ever.

  • Sup there, niggaz, I'm a singer!

  • @ItsNotaTuhmah Shut the fuck up.

  • @Pokemaniac9510 Why so serious? didn't you see the misheard video? it's funny as hell.

  • SAINTS ROW 3 MOTHERFUCKERS!

I'm so happy this song is in it! :)

  • @crazya7xman How do you know that? o.o

  • @MrMetalfr3ak I have the game...

  • @crazya7xman Yeah, I saw the soundtrack recently... It's one of the few metal songs that's actully good, the rest seems gay...

  • @MrMetalfr3ak Divinations (Mastodon) and Runes To My Memory (Amon Amarth) are good metal songs in there. You should check them out if you haven't.

  • @crazya7xman Getting it this week glad more Opeth is in it!!

  • @k5lta Me too! Saints Row 2 is what got me into Opeth! I liked rap before that...

  • @crazya7xman i started listening to Opeth a little before SR2 was announced, and i still like rap, just the old classic stuff not any of that bullshit on the radio today.

  • @k5lta Yeah, I like Eminem and Kanye West before his "ego" but I also like Opeth, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Amon Amarth, those types of bands.

  • @crazya7xman Nice!! i like Em too, and I like bands like Opeth of course, Fear Factory, RATM, Gojira, Deftones all types of stuff.

  • @k5lta Fear Factory is really good. Deftones are pretty good too, and I've never heard of the other 2.

  • @crazya7xman Rage Against The Machine, and Gojira are Great you should check them out. ;)

  • @k5lta I'm already a fan of Rage, but I'll try out Gojira. Have you heard of Between The Buried And Me?

  • @crazya7xman No.

  • @k5lta Their music is kind of like Opeth, but different in a way. Check out their song Prequel To The Sequel.

  • @crazya7xman alright.

  • @k5lta I'm listening to Flying Whales and it's really good. Reminds me of Mastodon.

  • @crazya7xman You should try "The Heaviest Matter of the Universe" next.

  • @k5lta Ok, I'll try it out.

  • @crazya7xman nice!!

  • @k5lta I liked the Gojira song. You listened to Prequel?

  • @crazya7xman yeah, it was nice!! lol

  • OPETH'S DELIIIIIGHT!!!

  • Estupendo

  • @PewPewGunner I drink lots of milk. Why has that never happened to me?!

  • @DrDoomsledge wrong brand.....maybe?

  • part 5:49 - 6:25 is totally EARGASMIC

  • i read a story about Odysseus in english class and oddyseus gets someplace where there lotus eaters and if you eat them it makes you forget about home and wanna stay on the island......this song gives me a boner

  • Have anyone an idea of what the song is about? For me it feels like something of Mikaels dark past and troubles with his parents, or so Ive heard:"And the pride of a mother brought flaws in a mother's son

And the love from a father was used by a father's son"

  • some people scare me...

  • Mikael Åkerfeldt is a genius

  • this is pre-mature jaculation when u type in opeth at the top and before u could click on the video to listen to the song you get all wet in the pants

  • at 54 sec it sounds like the elite four music on pokemon (game boy game )

  • Can anyone recommend a female-fronted prog metal band (or several)? Thanks!

  • @BlueRoadrunner1221 I can only think of more Avant-Garde Female fronted bands. The key one i can think of is the ever bewildering Unexpect. I know Stream of Passion have a girl vocalist but not sure on the band itself. Theres always the epic music of Epica also. Sorry i couldnt help much

  • @marsvoltian No, that's cool. Thanks, dude!

  • 0:43, he says "Just give me some beer" xD

  • @Rammstein99 Lmfao xD

  • @Rammstein99 At 0:43 he was not saying that he was saying ''Crops they were sown to die''

  • @hashimali72 He was obviously joking.. I doubt he thinks it really is 'just give me some beer.'

  • I check out all types of metal on youtube but always end up here for some reason

  • 5:42, from that it seem like if you were listening to a part from the heritage record.

  • /watch?v=LUyQx9cQaD4

We are a band called Watershine and we play progressive metal. Although it's not always so obvious, we are pretty influenced by Opeth, and we would appreciate if you listened to our demo and maybe left a comment :) Please don't mark this as spam, we're just trying to spread our music!

  • amazing!

  • @MyMytalMajesty ROFL!!! I never saw it but now I do, it's TOTALLY TRUE. Someone who interviews Mikael should ask if he secretly is addicted to Pringels. LOL!

  • 05:50... FUCK....

  • @MyMytalMajesty Never noticed that....hahah

  • im so glad i heard this song cause now im a dedicated Opeth fan :D

  • "liquid is in your throat on Opeth's delight"

    Apparently Opeth like to gangbang.

  • @Razzics That's what I always sing =]

  • greath

  • Why are people listening to this 240p shit?!?! This song is brilliant and deserves to be listened to in HD!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • omfg at 5:50 i almost broke out into a hammer slide fuckin epic

  • 5:42 and so on is music at it's best

  • THAT FUCKIN SONG IS INSANE. I WAS FUCKING DRINKING MY MILK AND THEN I HAD WINGS AND I WAS A MUTANT LIZARD FROM THE PLANET NOXUIX. THEN I FLEW OVER ALL OF MANKIND AND I TOOK A SHIT ON THE EIFFEL TOWER WHICH CRUMBLED UNDER THE WEIGHT OF MY SHITS AWESOMENESS. THEN I BECAME GOD AND TRIED TO CREATE SOMETHING AS PERFECT AS THIS SONG BUT ALL I COULD DO WAS SOLID PISS AND I KILLED MYSELF THUS FREEING ALL OF RELIGIOUS BITCHES ON EARTH AND THEN I BECAME A PLANT. I WAS A LOTUS AND THE POWER RANGERS SAVEDME

  • @PewPewGunner Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  • @IronreaverVII *Opeth is a hell of a drug.

  • @PewPewGunner

    Nice, man.... nice :P

  • @PewPewGunner dude i wish that happened to me all i did was shit myself violently

  • @PewPewGunner Well, you know, an average day in my life.

  • @PewPewGunner have sex with me please?

  • @PewPewGunner That was a nice weed!

  • @PewPewGunner My left hemisphere of my brain exploded and the right hemisphere imploded.

  • @PewPewGunner I think you might be the most awesomest guy on the whole internets.

  • @PewPewGunner I think if I smoked a few bowls then your comment would be scientific and shit :D

  • @PewPewGunner marry me...well, I'm a guy, but I'll make an exception for you

  • @PewPewGunner dude.. that acid u took mustve been CRAZY!

  • @PewPewGunner th song is not as insane as your experience XD

  • Blast beats + clean vocals = genius

  • Mikael's growling from 7:25 onwards is just fucking brilliant. Stuff that sends shivers down your spine.

  • Doesn't get much better than this...

  • 0:21 OMG wasn't expecting that

  • I put off listening to this band for a long time, but after listening to this song i see that it is time.

  • Judas!

  • I totally love the drums.... damn if I ever get to be that good :-)

  • I love the use of woodwind voicing in this album... especially this track. It's not your typical brain-dead death metal song, so naturally drones of the genre will hate anything creative like this.

  • 42 deaf people

  • 5:40 -> Me getz chills ;O

Sick beat and sick keyboard riff

  • from what I can gather this song is about a man who killed his brother who was getting benefits, and then didn't tell the government

  • ewww this songs perty gay

  • @Ioganstone nice trolling brough

  • @RenegadeShorts u 'mirin brough?

  • @RenegadeShorts its dangerous to try and reason with crazy people......

  • I want to study under this vocalist

  • if you like progressive check out BULB. and CHON

  • Sings like an angel, growls like the devil, and plays guitar like a madman.

    Long live Akerfeldt.

  • yummy.

  • Mikael is the only person (aside from Gandalf) that could begin a metal song humming a soft tune and not sound outwardly pretentious.

  • This song is retarded..........ly awesome.

  • 5:48 lift-music

  • 5:48 mariopeth

  • para la gente habla hispana, alguno se dio cuenta q en 8:40 una de las voces dice "no me dado cuenta q no le hacia nada"?

  • @0:00 peth

  • Thumbs up if your favourite part of the song starts from 0:50 to 2:05

  • Fav Opeth song right hear.

    Love the keys.

  • This song begins by alternating between two styles that I normally find ridiculous: blast beats, and cookie-monster death metal vocals...and yet I can't get enough of it.

  • Mikael can sing like an angel and growl like a demon.

  • 0:21 How does I death vocal?

    0:28 Oh yes I remember...
