  • How does the operator stop the car if it's being winched up or down the hill on a cable? I'm assunimg that the levers were seeing in this footage operate a clutch so that a clamp can grasp the cable to move the car or release he cable to slow to a stop when used in tandem with a brake.

  • All I know is the cable runs constantly, through a central hub. So my guess is basically what you said - that the levers engage and disengage from the cable, working in tandem with a brake.

  • Thanks for your response, Ben, and thanks for posting these video tours of your lovely city--a location that I plan to visit one day. I'm particularly interested in taking in a concert at Yoshi's, which I've heard is one of the finest listening rooms for Jazz concerts in the world.

  • Well thank you kindly and I certainly hope you get to visit one day. It's a great city!

  • I Love San Francisco.

  • There's a lot to love!

  • Music ruins the whole damn thing! PERIOD.
