I've been trying to figure this bit out since 1969 when I heard Clapton's version (Bluesbreakers) - I came up with a version that doesn't sound bad, considering that it would take me years to do it this way. I surrender, I accept my limitations.
I think Freddie King hits the low E string after strumming that chord 7 times. Then it's a string of sixths, high E and G strings: frets in order - 12-9-7-4-2-0-2-4-2-0-2-4-2-0-2
Hey I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me your exact set up, it is fairly close to the SRV sound, and I've always wondered how to achieve this sound. What guitar and pick ups are you using, and amp, pedals, etc. Thank you

i have noticed you play heavy gauge strings but tension seems light i know your tuned down but how you get the loose tension with that gauge ? intonation action?
Just a note, Anthony, to say thanks for your very helpful lessons...I started playing back in the 60´s, great times, some I even remember...anyway, i am loving your lessons, after a long absence working and raising kids I have rediscovered my love for blues guitar. Keep up the good work and again thanks!
Upon further review, I think it's that you're playing the 8th fret on the G string on the second double-stop when it should be a half step down on the D. That's the problem. I've learned a lot from you man, no disrespect intended :) Keep on keepin on.
AHA! You are correct sir. A quick review with the handy "Capo" program for the mac reveals that instead of forming part of a major E-Form chord at the 5 chord marker, he i simply sliding that double stop from the 9th to the 7th fret. I actually like my wrong way better, but it's a heck of a lot easier the correct way. Kudos on the magic ears :-)
Love your stuff man but something just doesn't sound right. Maybe not muting out the b string entirely when playing the 6ths? or maybe just a little out of tune?
I wondered who would notice that. I was out of tune enough to make me cringe. Also, at some points the B string is ringing out too when I'm not being careful.
Say, Anthony I was listening to what you were doing and based on my observations, I was wondering if that was indeed correct or not, cuz what you are playing sounds different than what I remember him playing on the recording, which I own.
After about 30 minutes with some slowing down software, I'm about 99% sure that's it's right on. The demo at the beginning is not quite 100%, but the individual pieces should be.
Never mind, Anthony, I just went and listened again, and you have the right of it. Don't listen to me, you rule, I drool!! LOL Great lesson, by the way!!
No problems, there are times I get something completely wrong, like my lesson on the intro chords to 'Lenny', first chord was off by a whole string :-)
ha ha. yeah you're doing just fine w/o help. But i just noticed you use it a lot in the vids but you've got at least two other strats if i recall. just thought it was interesting. playing so much SRV but not always playing a strat. NOT that their is a darn thing wrong with that. just an observation. By the way the pride and joy tutorial was real helpful with that "ka chunk ka chunk" shuffle part. As a novice it's not something i'd have got right. And little things like the pinky mute in this 1.
I'd love to try this one, but man .. Anthony's videos are always so blurry. I could barely make out the hairline scratch on the bottom of the 8th fret as I watched his video from across the room... ;-)
Another good one to practice with Anthony... - Cheers.
boy I wish you did this in regular tuning....

Is that a rosewood fretboard? Its warm like rosewood but it looks like ebony but it doesn't sound as bright as ebony.
