  • Mine didnt work after apt-get install it did all this then said could not get lock /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (11: resourse temperarily unavalible the unable to lock directory /var/cache/apt/archieve/

  • I am brand new to Linux/ubuntu. I used to do command line operation a long-long time ago with apple 2 computers and windows DOS computers (a tiny bit of unix too). I can handle it, but isn't the point point of Ubuntu to have a gui? Isn't there a way to install it via the ubuntu gui? Thanks for the vid BTW :-)

  • For those who are long time Linux users, using the terminal is probably second nature. Before finding this video, I installed Wine through the software center GUI app. Is there any disadvantage to installing using GUI over terminal? At the moment I am assuming not.

  • i need help, when i sun add-apt-repository etc... at the end i get a processed 1 unchanged 1. and when i input instal wine1.3 i get 0upgraded 0 newly installed 0 to remove 0 not upgraded. -.- i am root, running lxde on my touchpad. and i do have an internet connection.

    Cheers for the vid I thought I would post up the commands you used in the terminal in case anyone wanted to copy & paste them directly:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install wine1.3

    Actually, could you add them to your comments? it makes it much easier to follow along, esp for noobs like myself!
