  • So let's compare tofu production in factory with meat production in slaughterhouses and factories... which is less disgusting? Tofu is amazing, meat may taste good but also it's very cruel... Go Vegan!

  • FUCK FUR!

    FUCK MEAT!

    FUCK THE STATUS QUO!

    FUCK THE HATERS!

    GO VEGAN!

  • Tofu is totally amazing :D

  • I think tofu is one of the best inventions ever! :)

  • It is impossible to be vegan. Get over it. Instead of taking all your information from the internet or what people tell you or PETA maybe you should actually take a class on meat. It is offered at many colleges. I did and I still eat meat knowing that the animals are not suffering when they are killed. And many products are made from animals. Lotion, Gelatin and chapstick are just some of them. Maybe instead of just complaining about it you could pick up a book and educate yourselves on food.

  • @Emma03R Impossible to be vegan he says. This guy must of forgot about deer, buffalo, bison, cow, goat, antelope, hippo, elephant, panda, gorilla, greater apes, almost all insects and MYSELF! Yah thats right I've been vegan for two years now. Saying being vegan is "impossible" is like saying flying is "impossible". Go back to school, get an education, cut the lion food out of your diet, stop sucking on cows titties, the human body runs on sugar, not carcass, and more importantly...

    GO VEGAN!!!

  • I'm not a vegan or even a vegetarian, but tofu ain't bad, it's all in the preparation.

  • Tofu... yum. Way to go Vegan!

  • yummy

  • I KNEW there would be an argument on this video. What it would be about, either people picking a fight about Veganism, or about how disgusting the food is. I like tofu :)

  • Arguing about what is healthier is useless. What is healthy for one person isn't necessarily healthy for everyone else (allergies, sensitivities, difficulties in digestions, etc.) "Processed" tofu vs free-range meat from healthy animals... it's completely objective. Lean protein vs lean protein.

It's interesting to see the large-scale production of something that is commonly made at home (in a VERY similar way, without all the crazy machinery.)

  • mm soy cheese?

  • tofu is the bomb

  • Hey ,I seen you asked mp1000 if oxy powder works. I have the same question.Perfect supplements has an oxy powder thats related to the acai berry. Did you ever get an answer?

  • i luv tofu. :D

  • @Powerofthunder It's even good in soups other than Miso. I like it in beef or chicken broth with scallions. I'm not a vegan. Tofu BBQ or fried or as a frozen treat. Man, the stuff can be made into anything I bet.....

  • The use "cheese cloth" in the production process? Is this VEGAN approved? :) Just joking around really, I been trying to eat more tofu lately and really do like it. I think most people hear things and have a hard time diving into something new.

  • Killer tofu.

  • TOFU! i'm marinading some in reggae reggae sauce as we speak, i predict tasty

  • Why are people getting so mad? Tofu is great. ^_^

  • How do they box tofu in the plastic boxes? Any one have a video for that?

  • Great video. Didnt know how they made it commercial exactly. Always interesting to know how the make the food you eat.

  • tofu rocks.

  • nice video

  • Have you read the "Whole Soy Story"? Even though I don't agree that it's as bad as the book says, its still scary.

  • It is pro meat and dairy propaganda.

  • gah what is this brand of this spicy tofu, I WANT SOME

  • Comment removed

  • tofu is awsome i hate how ppl say its gross

IT SOAKS FLAVOR put 1 drop of say lemon juice on it itll taste the exact same!

    same goes with rice

  • where can you buy these molds and magnesium chloride?? i wanna try makin' tofu myself! :D

  • hmmm tofu being processed like in the meat industry...nice to know ;)

  • tofu isnt nutrional at all lol

hell, people become vegan saying eating meat isnt natural. yet i havent seen tofu in the wild....

  • People become vegan because animals are not products.

I am vegan and don't eat tofu.

  • Yet, our digestive system breaks down animal products....and there are vitamins you get with meat that you can't get with plants.

  • and the earth is the middle of the universe

do not believe everything your grandmother told you!

  • Especially if your grandmother is a hippie ;)

  • right on.

  • Your digestive system also takes cow milk pretty well (for most people, at least)... doesn't make it any less gross and unnatural to drink milk from another species...

  • right. you never see sheep drinking goat milk.

  • and you never see other animals eating tofu :)

  • you don't see other animals eating fuck big macs, twinkies, or the fucking processed crap that fucking westerners feed their fucking children.

  • Tofu is just as poisonous and unhealthy as those processed crap since it IS processed...

You dont see other animals driving a car, using toothbrushes, wearing shoes, clothes, etc...

  • It's processed but not to the extend of a gummybar! It's a soybean that is basically grounded up and mushed together. The only actual added thing is magnesium chloride which is a natural material. Although, it may cause high blood pressure for some (less than fried chicken), its great for your nervous system & living cells. It's still isn't as unprocessed as fresh fruit and vegetables, but over many cuts of meat, it's a much healthier choice.

  • But you can just get fresh fruit and vegetables in the wild. You can't find "wild" tofu. A buffalo steak is actually healthier and more natural than a piece of tofu.

  • @ironman711 A buffalo steak would be less processed than tofu, but unethical, and certainly far less healthy than tofu.

As for tofu being unnatural, it is unnatural to the extent that cheese is unnatural. Cheese is made from dairy milk, whereas tofu is essentially "cheese" made from soy milk. Difference here being that, again, making tofu violates no one's rights, whereas dairy production does.

  • @kimberlily1983

So? In nature, there is no such thing as "ethical"/"unethical". It's either eat or be eaten.

Actually, buffalo meat is healthier than you think. How else can you explain Native Americans living so long in areas where buffalo roamed in the thousands??

Dairy production doesn't violates anyone's rights, but I'm sure making tofu does as I am sure they are made in sweatshops.

  • @ironman711 1 - You may think morality comes down to opinion. I do not. I think some things are right, and some things are wrong.

2 - I'm not certain about this, but as I've been told Native Americans, while healthy and robust while alive, tended NOT to live very long. Not necessarily just because of their meat-centered diets; perhaps other factors were involved. I've been meaning to look into this...

3 - I believe separating calves from their mothers violates rights as much as....

  • @kimberlily1983 "I think some things are right, and some things are wrong."

That is the EXACT definition of an opinion.

Life expectancies in the Native Americans can be attributed to the fact that they lived a survival-based lifestyle, for the most part. They depended on the wildlife, and were vulnerable to it simultaneously.

As for dairy, that is a valid issue. However, I'm sure that there is some no-stress system that some dairy farms are implementing. I'm not sure how it works, but it...

  • @DMXP100 ...results in less stress in the cow, culminating in higher quality milk. Not separating the calves from their mothers may be one of the methods of reducing stress.

  • @DMXP100 Considering humans have no need for cow's milk - and are arguably better off without it - I don't see any point in encouraging improvement of the system: if people insist on having milk, improvement is better than nothing, but the real solution is to abolish the system altogether. That's the only way we can guarantee their rights are respected and the only way to ensure they aren't exploited.

  • @kimberlily1983 Valid point. However, since the dairy industry has grown to become an integral part of modern society, abolishing said industry might not be possible. Mankind has been using dairy for thousands of years, and it may take thousands of years to abolish the system, if it is possible at all.

  • @DMXP100 Overnight change might be impossible, but I'm not sure why it would take thousands of years. It's not a matter of being physically difficult to accomplish; it's the mental obstacles that are the problem - it's convincing people it's cruel, wrong, and they're better off without it / have no need. People are coming around to the fact, slowly, that milk is unnecessary and can cause many health problems. Once there's not enough demand / enough opposition, change will happen more quickly.

  • @ironman711 .... much as separating human babies from their mothers. There is much suffering caused by the dairy industry, and that's why I choose not to consume dairy. And, no, LOL, tofu is not produced in sweatshops.

  • actually, there was a study done quite recently that stated that 60% of the human population CAN'T handle milk.

  • Yeah well, i can't either... but that wasn't really my point... hmm... i guess what you just said also goes towards proving my point, though :P

  • Yet we cook the meat before we eat it.

  • Not all meat.

People tend to want their food warm/hot. Have you heard of sushi or beef tartar?

  • BULLSHIT. I would like to see you eat a big steak raw, go ahead.

  • Wow, you are ignorant. You honestly believe that there is no such thing as beef tartar?

  • Yeah I know there is, MINCED MEAT. I also know few eat it, and that it's also dangerous to it eat since its so much bacteria in it

  • The same with eating vegetables/fruit without washing/cleaning them.

  • yeah i think a raw steak is called a blue steak you can get them where i live but you have to sign a waiver in the restaurant so you cant sue them for food poisoning

  • right on!

  • you have no idea about what your talking about i advise you to just shut up. your dumbing yourself down every time you respond

  • completely agreed. he just totally lost his cool the moment someone pwnd him. if soy was bad then every vegetarian would be dead by now or in the hospital.

  • Poison, Sir? Poison my arse. If me & my sis heard about that, we'd've abandon it years ago. Seems to me you have no proof to say such things. Besides, tofu is made from soybeans (organic plant), curdled by lemons, limes, or other ORGANIC material, followed by some device to make it harden into. It's almost like how cheese, an animal counterpart, is made from milk for 100's of years, 'cept w/ bacteria.

I pity the kid. He's being ignorant. Certain plants simply does not have good qualities to'em.

  • same with real meat :)

  • you sir, is a stupid beyond stupid.

  • I'm really confused why this tofu is on a really random platter in the middle of nowhere. Lol. It makes me happy.

  • SirDewdalot,

I wonder if you even have an idea what exsactly GM food is.I would probably research the topic before making such strong opinions about it and then forcing them on others in such an unpleasant manner. If anything, corn (that is the main cattle feed as far as I know) is more genetically modified then anything.

Anyways, with the global food crisis I have a sneaking suspition that soon enought GM food will be the least of our troubles..

  • SirDewdalot, "killing the messenger" actually means that I insult you rather than present an alternative argument. I did not insult you at all but provided an alternative opinion, so don't go all cry baby and start insulting people if you don't get your own way in life.

AND Soy was introduced into japan in the 7th century from china.

  • SirDewdalot, look up the longevity of the japanese (no 1 in world) and see what they eat. Many just eat tofu and home grown vegetables. A poison it is not, mind you if you spray the beans with poisons, it will likely end up poisonous. Your country adds rBST to milk (banned by almost every other country in the world) so would not surprise me if they spray with dangerous chemicals in US.

Tofu is high in iron, low in fat, also depending on how its made, high in calcium, taste is inert like rice.

  • No it is not. It IS a health food you ya moron. It doesn't even look like it is added with hormones. How the freak do they add hormones to a plant? I can hardly see how; I can only see gene splicing to the plant is the only possibility.

And besides, soy-fed cattle (and pig) is better that corn-fed cattle. They are simply force fed corn to those poor things when they aren't made to live on corn forever.

  • I recently made a large batch of tofu and it came out so watery it went through the cheese cloth. Is there a limit to how much water you are to mix with the tofu beans as well as the tofu coagulant? I don't use lemon juice which is why I am asking.

  • i love the tofu where they scoop soft tofu in a cup with this really sweet golden coloured water, its a dessert which is soooo nice. I dont know what they're called in english but i do know it in chinese

  • I find it interesting how different it is that they talk about making tofu from making it at home. Some of the steps are kinda switched. Cool.

  • Ohh, soy bean why are you so good to us.

  • isnt veganism not eating something FROM an animal? the future use of a byproduct should not be of concern. i dont think you need to be worried.

  • All that it means is that if you help the company that makes tofu you help the company that kills cows feed um, so in a way you help the meat industry.

Vegans can BS themselves all they want but they contribute to animal deaths every day in one way or another.

  • Shonem, yes a byproduct of tofu is animal feed, but vegans can easily buy the soybeans, and make the tofu themselves. Now how do vegans contribute to animal deaths?

  • Because you object to animals eating plants? on what basis?

  • @japope1982 you are stupid. Cattle need food too.....lol

  • That's the biggest block of tofu I've ever seen!

  • it's correctly called dobu not tofu. it's originally a product of Korea. Just wanted to point this out for you all.

  • no, tofu or doufu is originally from china.

  • Finally i found this comment to reply back. No offense but learn your facts right. dobu aka tofu is originally a product of Korea. it's just that Japan and China had better marketing strategies. If you know Korean History with Japan and china you know your fact is BS. it's from Korea I can bet my life on this fact.

  • lol you would bet your life on some tofu. damn you must not have much to live for.

  • nop, tofu was invented in northern China around 164 BC, and mind u, "dobu" is Korean for "doufu", is in some sort Chinese character lol.
