years ago, i brought a booked called "how to knit with dog hair" i never used it because i dont knit. i brought the book because i thought it was so odd. now i wish i had collected the hair from my tomcat, tux who died many years ago and made something of it. will definitely start collecting the hair from my female tabby and have something made.

Good for her! I agree with everyone else. Heck, we kill cows and wear their hides on our feet and as belts and crap. I'm indifferent to the bags, I'm not really a cat person. But I feel like for animal activists, some might jump straight to saying this is animal abuse. However, I think its the exact polar opposite. The cats are treated very well, and by using cat hair, it cuts back on the "abuse" of sheep who help in the manufacturing of wool. This could turn out to be a great way of going green.

Why is it gross?? Wool comes from sheep, angora from rabbits and cashmere from GOATS. These are considered luxury fibers and are completely natural. Its sensible and creative.

I wouldn't care about having a bag from my cats fur as a keepsake (that is a little kooky for me) ..... but I see nothing wrong with spinning animal fiber and using it. People been doing that for a long time. As far as a gross factor it's no different than using sheep, or llamas. You just have to clean the fur well before spinning it. I'd much rather see someone doing this than a lot of other insanity we have in the world today.

I would get a handbag from each of my two cats if I could. When my dog died all I had to remember him was a box of ashes and his old collar. there's still some fur on there, but not much to even remember how he felt. Yah know what I mean? a handbag is just a neat way to remember a pet.
