I like the one without lyrics better. The music speaks for itself extremely well, and the lyrics get in the way of hearing the music's "voice". I'm not against vocals, though - I really like the 'la'-ing or humming of the other version.

This is a beautiful song. I agree with DMcLean1989 in that it would sound SO perfect with a male part so it could be a duet, but that's easily doable (just switch octaves for some of the verses, and find the simple harmonies for the chorus). Anyways, it's gorgeous, and I love it.

From an Opera singer I'd have to say that the vocalist leaves much to be desired and was pitchy in spots... But your composition was more than beautiful. As I promised here are some minor suggestions for future work. 1.Use more variety in range, get both hands in other octaves on the keyboard. 2, Use LESS pedal - release the pedal on every chord so that the overtones of the last chord do not continue to ring. 3. Thanks for the helpful comments. In case you were interested, I do not write my music sitting at a piano. I write it all in my head and then play it. I mainly work with orchestra. I do it this way because I have perfect pitch.

Try thinking it in your head and working it out on paper first, before playing it on the piano. That gives you more options in the harmony, and it frees you from the keyboard while you intellectualize about the score. It is very hard at first, however once you become adept at it, it saves time in the long run and gives better results. A question - what program do you use for your orchestration? I produced the orchestra and piano recording. The Venitian Princess sang and recorded the vocals. Unfortunately, the recoding does not do her voice justice.
