Did an A/B comparison of these to the QSC K12s (admittedly 300 more), I much preferred the sound of the K12s. Though I liked the "clean" sound of the EVs, I found the tone to be way too bright. Bass also felt a little more solid on the K12, but to me that's less of a concern because I can make that up with a sub. I kept listening for the improved "warmth" based on the EVs wood cabinet but I thought the plastic K12s sounded warmer (all settings flat - both pairs).
I had QSC K12 speakers and sold them. I was looking at the Evs and also the JBL prx speakers. The Ev speakers sound really flat and i had to hear them many times with different types of music. The price was very good at 550 for the 15inch model but, I wasnt convinced. I bougt the JBL Prx 615m's which sound alot better.
Hi, good job on the review! I am in the market for a new PA system for our Band. I have been looking into the QSC K and KW series and liked them, but ran across the EV's you reviewed at our local music store, so I started researching them. I am curious now that you have had them for a while, do you still recommend the EV's? Have you had any problems with them shutting off or overheating? Thank you in advance for your input. PEACE.
Nice video man i saw this video a while ago and I really like the review that you did and bought a pair of this series and my question is that how do u set up on them what's the gain levels because last night doing a gig one of them actually shut down on me problably because I raise the gain levels to much but if you can let me know what's the proper gain levels that I won't have those problems again I will really apreciate it thank you
Xio what kind of amps were you using to push the Ev's? I am hearing conflicting reports about how there are 1000watt peak and only 250watt continuous. I even called EV to verify. Can you tell me what the wattage per channel was on your amps? Thank you brother. Good video!
took me couple weeks to decide from k12 vs prx612m.....until i heard these ( heard them next to JBLs and def loved them).....i heard them today at a local store and got a super deal on agiprodj for 509 a speaker!! so they should be in soon! ill get some yorkville subs ls720p! stoked
omg i just got the 12s powered and all i could say is that you were right these things rock there so clean and clear and punchy feels like you have subs amazing sound
That really was not a balanced review! By his own admission he says he never actually compared them side by side with the FBT's .
To speak authoritively he should do a side by side comparison. Also my experience has been that the RCF ART310A's are better then the FBT 10's. So lets hear also a comparison with the wonderful little RCF art310A's as well.
By the way. Our madproaudio club installer states that running the EV Elx112p speaker with the ELX118p sub is a better blend of sound than the 15's paired up with the subs.
Our staff at Madproaudio flew out to California in January to listen to the new Live X series. We were more than impressed with the sound quality when you actually are realistic about the pricing that follows it. We have spoken to many people over the last few months and the live X is clearly a winner over the jbl in our minds. We would pick the EV live X series all day long if a customer had to stay in this price range. Worth EVERY LAST PENNY!
I just picked up the X line myself the 15's and 18's.. I went in to purchase the Jbl prx series and side by side I was dissapointed in the JBL's. The high's had to be Eq'ed up to compare with Ev's sound. They are amazing sounding and highly recommend!
I was contemplating on the EV's 15. or the JBL prx's15//I They are both the same in sound and bass I hear, same warrentys, and weigh the same. I went with the JBL's because the service center is only 10min away from me. Have you worked with the Prx series? That would be a good comparision video. The PRX's and EV's. Thanks again for the review, God Bless
@DJayBlest No sir i really dont think they sound the same. The JBL handle the power with more class. The EV's sound a lil clearer but the bass sounds like its gonna pop the speaker. I have K-10's PRX and The EV's and they may be going back. The fit right in that niche under the PRX and QSC because of the price.
i own a pair and to me they don't have ANY bass. i also own a pair of k10s and on deep mode the k10s OWN the live x. as far as vocals the live x is king. it could be just my speakers that i got but to my ears i wouldn't travel without a sub.
good video , i own the hpr 122i and qsc 118 subs , ive heard the difference between k-12s and the hpr , i preferred the hpr ,,but heavy tho,,, have any idea how the livex would compare to the hpr line
I don't know which FBT speaker you are talking about since you never mention the model. Of course when someone gets a new speaker they are going to be all gung-ho about it saying it's better than this and better than that but why not A/B them to make sure?
@massman1974 video did not do justice they sounded good in the video but the camera did not show a volume change when turned up ? anyway i can tell u these sound great i can only compare to the bose l1 compact i had, a single one of these was louder- more bass and had the same sound quality. and that amazed me !! i can tell u i just did a house party with them no sub they ran from 12:00 till 11:00 without a single prob i noticed the back plates get warm but never realy hot i give them a 10/10
Hey so the power rating listed on thses speakers is 1000 watts but is that continuous or peak?

The Hi Maxx 40a's dont seem to be as loud - 127 spl rated? The EVs are supposedly 132 spl. The FBTs are really that much louder?

Ever heard the PRX series? I compared the specs of the PRX600's and the LiveX's, and they look very similar. I'm thinking about getting a set.

@musicmaestrodj
We use the FBT HiMaxx40as.
The FBTs cost twice as much and are respectively louder.
However, they are definitely not twice as loud.
The EVs put out great lows because of their wooden cabinet construction.
The EVs are a solid buy, especially for the price.

@promodjs Only for the price by comparison.
