  • Afff... It's clear, that autonomous has better wheels and (IMHO) it prejudge the result - rubber wheels wins with cardboard...

  • @debater96 With the Stampy algorithm, *all* mcus will work. This was using a PIC16F877, but on my site you'll also find copy/paste code for ATmega8/168 and ATmega640.

  • You should build another chassis the same (or really similar) to the autonomous robot, with everything but the electronics. Then put RC gear in it instead of a brain. Obviously, the RC would probably win, so to keep it more fair, attach a wireless camera to the front of the RC robot and hook up the camera receiver and you can only view what the robot sees. That way if the robot is behind you or beside you, you can't see it.

  • Any other microcontroller you find on the parts list will work. You can also build one of your own. Look for my instructions to build a robot for $50 on the front page. I included a program to do what Stampy does for you to download.

  • I hacked the servos . . . search my site for 'modify servo' for a tutorial I wrote.

  • one thing you might want to say in your tutorial. A simpler way of stopping the "pot" just unsolder the wires of it, then you know it doesn't matter where it is and you can use the servo again afterwards, i knew this was probably how you did it, i just was never successful when i did it before.

  • Unsoldering the pot won't work unless you replace it with a resistor of a specific value. It was easier to just mechanically disconnect it from the main rotating gear.

  • Of course the autonomous robot's gonna win - he's made out of much harder and heavier material with a wedge weapon! I don't know how cardboard wheels and an empty water bottle would win a match to the death or even a sumo battle here,taking only weight into consideration. Still cool though, but maybe give the RC another weapon, like a mini grenade launcher, or the ability to spill corrosive acid - or a magnet.
