  • Why is this recording being played in A major?

  • @bobswaget probably baroque tuning, it's about half a tone from modern tuning

  • It is a marvelous piece, the cellist is very fine and the harpsichord playing is remarkable.

  • Speaking of grading systems, I don't think the institutionalizing of music has been the best thing for study and has been used more for profit than teaching. I feel it removes intimacy from the teacher-student relationship. With grades, we have everyone exposed to the same repertoire, judging progress by a tiered relationship to other musicians less than motivation for the love of the art itself. Why not evaluate the student and assign music? thereby diversifying what is heard and played.

  • Can some one please tell me what RCM grade this piece is for? Thanks in advance!

  • What do you exactly mean by "RCM grade"?

  • Well maybe just what grade in general. RCM is like the Canadian system.Thank you!

  • Well, my friend, who started playing in 3rd grade, learned this in 8th grade, but it was a stretch. Hope that's what you were wondering ^^;

  • thanks!
