@LordWellington15 um all Royal Marines including men of the Royal Marines Band Service are Royal Marines Commandos. they all go through the tests to get their Green Beret and the same commando course.....then the Bandsmen go to their phase 2 training and the Rest of the Marines continue with Training.

@kingnick104 Someone I knew who was in the Marines said the Drummers had to go through the Commando course. But not the other band members. But he was in some time ago etc..Falklands War. He called the band members bandies or something.

I attended a Queen's birthday parade at Horseguards in 1976, the RMs were superb and the RM massed bands were so, so impressive but there were four times as many in those days. There have never been other military bands who could play on the march and keep their dressing throughout a whole display as well as these guys.

I first saw Royal Marines Bands in 1976 when they toured the US with the Black Watch. I was a US Marine then and came to the opinion that the RM Bands were better than US Marine Bands. Having seen RM Bands live and on tape many times since, nothing has changed. RM Bands are the best.

Yes, tickets were available to the public in advance via Ticketmaster, or were available on the day (for Tuesday, but not sure for Weds when Duke Phil was there).

Well worth it & also to see them marching to and from barracks - absolutely awesome - the best band in the world! Roll on 3 years time!
