I'm having trouble launching this game. I bought it off steam and I was just wondering if I met the system requirements. I have an AMD Athlon(tm) II P360 Dual-Core Processor 2.30 GHz. 4.00GB of RAM and a 64 bit operating system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is awesome i have never seen a simulator like this one, 8 minutes to start everything is this how much a pilot need to start going?. Awesome work on the simulator i hope we see more like those in the future.
Wow such an awesome game..Well i never played it... Why is there so many buttons in an aircraft in real life? I bet you could simplify and remove half of those buttons...But i dont know im not a pilot!
@indirulz1234 dude, there is more than one reason to have a lot of buttons at our disposal on the cockpits. First reason i could point is to force the pilot to know the systems and how they operate, that being said it may be controversial but it simplifies things on the plane, that´s because the systems can be independent the pilot itself connect them and disconnect them, so when we have a failure we know where it is and possibly we can figure the best move to solve it or to go around.
I have a really cheap joystick without a duel thruster thing and its actually attached to the joystick and its just a small flap that you push up to boost the thrust. It wont let me click and move the thrusters or anything to get them to go to idle. how can I do this without at expensive joystick?
wow.... i love you DCS thank you so much for creating games like these. Last time i played a decent simulation was Janes AH-64d Longbow and Janes ATF and since then i've been praying for more :D Thannkkksss!
@d0z3rr LOL!!! Hahaha Was thinking of that in bf3 haha you just said what i was thinking. There would mabye be 1 person who knew how to start 1 but immidatly crashes when he starts to take off haha.
@Arch and Dio, As complicated as these jets are, you'll find a lot of planes are not so much about brains and more about getting the feel of the craft - my brother's flight instructor told us this, and although I've never flown real planes (RCs, and Combat sims), I can say that's a good way of putting it.
I used to be hopeless at playing Wings of Prey in sim mode, but after some practice it's like second nature to me. However, my chair feels nothing like a real plane, so I can't really fly yet.
"This note takes place at a work-in-progress version of the new Nevada (Nellis AFB) terrain. We wanted to give you a little preview of this new terrain even though it is incomplete. No noise map yet and some issues with close range shadows."
We waiting too much for this terrain ;) and for scripts file documentation to employ new weapons so this is not black shark to do weapons mod easyli.
@hawkplaya94 I know for a fact that most RAF forces that are required to scramble can get in the air within 5-10 minutes and can be at any part of the U.K within around half an hour if not far less. I'm sure the U.S is very similar. Rapid response squadrons such as the 621st Contingency Response Wing in america has a responsibility to Nasa to be able to get to nasa launches at a moments notice in order to protect them. They have (prepared)jets that can be started in less than a minute for this.
@hawkplaya94 I believe that in a situation where an aircraft is likely to get 'scrambled' the sub-systems are already set and ready to go, the engine just needs to be started, in some situations I think the engine is kept at a low ground idle when there is a high chance of it needing to 'scramble'. But keep in mind this was a tutorial and in the real situation the Pilot would have these drills well rehearsed and would therefore complete them much faster. Hope that helps.
If I tried playing this game, it would be like when Homer Simpson was a pilot and he pushed a button and his co-pilot said, "No, we need that to live." Then he pushed another button and then the wheels retracted and the plane fell while it was still parked.
@jlebesis haha yeah me too ;) i´ve read somewhere they are planning a "afghanistan" map style as a DLC or patch. Im gonna buy it, if that that happens. Or steam price drops from 49,99.
Awesome alternative to my Fs9.1 PMDG simualtor which is only used for general aviation and not military flights.
@Superjazzz As far as I'm aware they are indeed working on more content in the DCS series, however the current focus is on land attack aircraft, so F-15 is not likely any time soon.
@bbelilovsky Janes F15 was immensly popular... so much so, that when Falcon 4.0 came out, they decided not to follow up with a MiG-29. Instead, do to popular demand, the F-15E Strike Eagle was chosen... unfortunately Microprose went under before completion. I very much wish DCS would follow up A-10C with the F-15E!!!! Such a beatiful aircraft with plenty of ground attack capabilities!!!
How do you look around the cockpit like that so freely? Ive been using ctrl+c because my laptop doesnt have a dedicated numberpad like a normal keyboard.
@JHayesAVFC He's likely using TrackIR, or maybe even FreeTrack. They're head tracking devices/software, which lets you control your in-game view with your head.
Lol what are they saying, the british people might just get there hands on one of these and steal it.
Really how stupid are these people who decide I mean hasn't this video just shown me everything i need to see if this is the reason why we cannot own it?
I'm pretty sure the reason is because of financial / legal / any other issues with selling it in the UK, and it was a decision completely on the Developers, nothing to do with your / my government
I'm very sure it has nothing to do with military information
Just pirate it or something, it's already on the pirate bay. I don't usually support the pirating of games, but since you can't purchase it anyways it's not like they're losing a sale.

Buy DCS A-10C Warthog, now including 6 hours of "Why the fuck isn't this sucking fucking jet starting?!" and a net cockpit switch, the "space time continuum" which you must set to "true", then hop on one leg around the Warthog while balancing a marble on your nose. THEN...Then you can take off.
@jerrylive365 you know what i mean, you should see legs and arms like in real life. the buttons wont turn by invisible force like in here. unless if there is a magneto who doesn't have legs and arms and can control metal switches :)
nice good graphic and no shit on the screen while playin like life and ammunition BUT no fuckin pilot? what a fuckin joke, made the whole game about A-10 very detailed and no pilot

@PredatorYT Thanks for your info, and to the guy before who replied to me, but I found a way to fix my problem. See, when I relax my hand over the joystick, it moves a little bit to the left, because it's been used so much so it's getting a little glitchy in the joystick mechanics, soo, to counter that, I went into the DCS options, selected my rudder yaw left/right joystick axis and tweaked with the deadzone, so now when I leave my hand on the joystick, the plane doesn't respond to my input! :D
this is amazing ;0 i've been practicing my ramp start all day, and thanks to your tutorial on atc or w.e its called with the air traffic control and radio thing i was finally able to take off. great videos man. I'm learning fast.
@ZzRvXzZ Lol yeah, really. What if I "got lost" and "wandered" onto an air field and "found my way" into an A-10 that was fueled and ready to go? I talked about this with my aerospace engineering teacher and we both agreed that while unspeakably illegal and most likely ending in death, it would be amazing.
I don't think you can steal a A-10 because it takes too much time to make all checks, start engies,... as you see in this video. But perhaps there is also a "start in the air button". ;-)
Question to all:
Can you please tell me if you can also click with the mouse on the buttons in the cockpit like in the game DCS Black Shark or do you have to do all these things with the keyboard keys. I can't see any mouse cursor in this video.
I use a X-52 Pro HOTAS w/pedals and resort to Right Alt + Home and Right Ctl + Home for engine start as there's only one throttle control on the X-52. The TM HOTAS has two throttles but no pedal support AFAIK.
iv done all this but i cant get the throttles to move im using a x52 pro stick thats works fine in the turorial but the throttles just dont movewhich buttons can i use instead?
I get 24 - 60 fps with my PC with the shadows medium, view distance medium and scenerly complexity low. The low fps are when very low to a city. Most of the time its around 40fps. its a dual threaded sim that runs better if you install the 64bit version.

Most of the time its around 40fps. Its a dual threaded sim so it only uses two CPU cores It runs better if you install the 64bit version on a 64bit OS .
DCS does not cost $60 to use it also costs £1000 for a computer £350 for the A-10 controls, £130 for the trackIR thats for a desktop PC but for the cockpit that moves and the intructor room your talking another million pounds. DCS software itself is much cheaper than older simulator software because it is also sold to the public. Sega once made a game costing 20 million but because they sold many copies it could be sold at £30.
Eagle Dynamics made DCS A-10C for the US Military to train the next pilots and to train up prevous pilots on the new version with an agreement that they could also sell it to the public. The reason the military chose DCS is because they were very imnpresed with Lomac ED's other simulator.
DCS has simulation settings and gamer settings so you can fly it with enemy lables or without.
I find it very frustrating without TrackIR I got that on order theirs too much looking arouund at cockpit panels. iIts like your flying a plane and flying your head at the same time.
@gighalo This is a simulator. Not a game (although there might be a game-mode if thats what you mean). I think the engine is updated and optimized but still probably needs a lot of CPU - i think. Most people flying in simulators have HOTAS (stick and throttle joysticks). Cheaper ones are Saitek X52 for example and its really good for starters. You really need a HOTAS to properly enjoy the sim. So many buttons and switches and gauges. :)
@G1N0L4T1N0@TheLautenbag It's both a game and a simulator.. While I haven't heard of the military using it, I suppose they could; although, the government probably uses simulators that costs MUCH more than $60... however a simulator or simulation is a game genre. Such as The Sims, etc. So technically, it is a 'simulator' so to speak.
@DylnCox Techincally correct. Real flight simulators though are genereally devices worth millions of dollars. DCS could be classified as a desktop trainer.
@DylnCox Techincally correct. Real flight simulators though are genereally devices worth millions of dollars. DCS could be classified as a desktop trainer.
@gighalo I can't speak for what these developers are using, but I would definitely recommend a joystick. Judging from the way the view is looking, I'd guess that he's also using TrackIR. TrackIR is a head-tracking program that lets you "look" around. TrackIR is a must-have!
@Razor1896 Don't worry, there is a 'game (pussy) mode' for all aspects of the game. Really tho if you dont want the full clickable cockpit and all the realism you would be better off with LOMAC FC2 - its compatible with DCS anyway.
@superskidoos You may find DCS: A:10C, in it's open beta release stage at the "digitalcombatsimulator" website as stated in the video's description.
Just navigate to "products" and buy/ download it there. I do not believe a hard copy is available and I would expect it not to be until after the official release. Worth every penny if I may say. :)
Dcs is the Sh$&. There quickly taking over the combat flight simulation market. And what puts the icing on the cake is all there products are compatible in multiplayer. I've been a flight simmer for years and nothing comes close to black shark or a-10. If you can afford it help keep these guys in buissness.
@LJFHutch KA-50 is abit more complex - but just run through it a few times, and get one of those offline PDF checklists to help you out. Took me a few days to get every step rigth every time. Dont give up though :)

Kryndon64 9 months ago
I was hoping for a power button that I press and then I push the joystick forward, but that's just me.

in this case they forgot the one & most important tutorial of them all :
how to break into a cockpit without smashing the window ?
V0V0o 9 months ago
@ZzRvXzZ It is the game that teaches you... Virtually every button in that cockpit can be toggled.
scrfce123 9 months ago
@ZzRvXzZ Lol yeah, really. What if I "got lost" and "wandered" onto an air field and "found my way" into an A-10 that was fueled and ready to go? I talked about this with my aerospace engineering teacher and we both agreed that while unspeakably illegal and most likely ending in death, it would be amazing.
RADIOACTIVEBUNY 8 months ago
@ZzRvXzZ

Akileze 10 months ago
Is anyone having trounle unpausing the game? I just downloaded it and can't even unpase to start mission. Please help with what to press.
xplicitkillr 10 months ago
@xplicitkillr Pause/Unpause should be Pause/Break as noted on screen. If that doesn't work I'm not sure what may be the issue.
Good Luck

I get 24 - 60 fps with my PC with the shadows medium, view distance medium and scenerly complexity low. The low fps are when very low to a city. Most of the time its around 40fps. its a dual threaded sim that runs better if you install the 64bit version.

can somebody show me a Pc that will run this game ?
nathie97 11 months ago
DCS does not cost $60 to use it also costs £1000 for a computer £350 for the A-10 controls, £130 for the trackIR thats for a desktop PC but for the cockpit that moves and the intructor room your talking another million pounds. DCS software itself is much cheaper than older simulator software because it is also sold to the public. Sega once made a game costing 20 million but because they sold many copies it could be sold at £30.
NielsShoe 11 months ago
Eagle Dynamics made DCS A-10C for the US Military to train the next pilots and to train up prevous pilots on the new version with an agreement that they could also sell it to the public. The reason the military chose DCS is because they were very imnpresed with Lomac ED's other simulator.
DCS has simulation settings and gamer settings so you can fly it with enemy lables or without.
NielsShoe 11 months ago
I find it very frustrating without TrackIR I got that on order theirs too much looking arouund at cockpit panels. iIts like your flying a plane and flying your head at the same time.
NielsShoe 11 months ago
does the A-10 come with the game or do you have to download it?
fsxaviator 11 months ago
are u guys using just a regular pc or a joystick with this game?
gighalo 1 year ago
@gighalo This is a simulator. Not a game (although there might be a game-mode if thats what you mean). I think the engine is updated and optimized but still probably needs a lot of CPU - i think. Most people flying in simulators have HOTAS (stick and throttle joysticks). Cheaper ones are Saitek X52 for example and its really good for starters. You really need a HOTAS to properly enjoy the sim. So many buttons and switches and gauges. :)

@i7fan This is a game, not a simulator.
G1N0L4T1N0 11 months ago
@G1N0L4T1N0 It is a simulator. I heard the military uses it.
ThLautenbag 11 months ago
@G1N0L4T1N0 @TheLautenbag It's both a game and a simulator.. While I haven't heard of the military using it, I suppose they could; although, the government probably uses simulators that costs MUCH more than $60... however a simulator or simulation is a game genre. Such as The Sims, etc. So technically, it is a 'simulator' so to speak.
DylnCox 11 months ago
@DylnCox Techincally correct. Real flight simulators though are genereally devices worth millions of dollars. DCS could be classified as a desktop trainer.

@G1N0L4T1N0 That's a better description :)

@gighalo I can't speak for what these developers are using, but I would definitely recommend a joystick. Judging from the way the view is looking, I'd guess that he's also using TrackIR. TrackIR is a head-tracking program that lets you "look" around. TrackIR is a must-have!
dquock 11 months ago
I'd rather use this game for the inbuilt computer(in the panel)...
It can be programmed as EFI!
MrLinuxkid 1 year ago
@Razor1896 Don't worry, there is a 'game (pussy) mode' for all aspects of the game. Really tho if you dont want the full clickable cockpit and all the realism you would be better off with LOMAC FC2 - its compatible with DCS anyway.

superskidoos 1 year ago
@superskidoos You may find DCS: A:10C, in it's open beta release stage at the "digitalcombatsimulator" website as stated in the video's description.
Just navigate to "products" and buy/ download it there. I do not believe a hard copy is available and I would expect it not to be until after the official release. Worth every penny if I may say. :)
BlackJackStrikesBack 1 year ago
@superskidoos Go to Google, type 'DCS A10', click on the eagle dynamics website, go to e-shop, buy game, crash plane, repeat.

Dcs is the Sh$&. There quickly taking over the combat flight simulation market. And what puts the icing on the cake is all there products are compatible in multiplayer. I've been a flight simmer for years and nothing comes close to black shark or a-10. If you can afford it help keep these guys in buissness.
