@sunnyH19 While some of the settlements were built on purchased land, there are a large portion of settlements that were built on land that was expropriated by Israel, with no compensation to the Palestinians. Also, the refugees from Israel proper who lost their homes through expulsion, voluntary fleeing or at the behest of Arab armies were not compensated. I agree that some organs of the UN are a complete joke, i.e., UNHRC.

Arabs were never kicked out. They fucking left. Their Arab leaders told them the Jews were going to massacre them, so they left with pots on their stoves! However, JEWS WERE kicked out of Arab countries ( like my grandparents ) . 15% of Israel is Arab ( not including the 2 million in the West Bank ) , and they get more rights than Arabs in Arab countries will ever wish for. The countries that they're in don't give them citizenship so they'll get UN comp money, and hold it against Israel.

They should have been, but to say people haven't offered them a lot back is incorrect. They were allowed to return to any of the Western European countries, presumably the east, unless it is some backwater nation. Germany, Austria, and France offer them full right of return. It was less an issue in Italy and England.

It was intended to cope with cases when the Nazis transferred their own Jews to concentration camps in Poland, or when Turkey in 1974 deported peasants from Anatolia to Northern Cyprus and settled them in the homes of ethnically cleansed Greeks. It does not mean voluntary settlement.

First off, those Israeli writings contain a lot of interesting legal insight that you might want to check before criticizing. And Eugene Rostow was not an Israeli, he was an American diplomat. Also read "The Illegal Settlements Myth" by David Phillips, also a non-Israeli.
