Just mixed up my first batch of yeast starter and its on the mixing plate . tomorrow we brew our first patch of Dead Ringer wife bought me for Christmas.
Thanks Northern Brewer she's been shopping with you more then me this holiday season, Sweet..
Instead of using your fingers to fish out the stir-bar, you can dunk a set of kitchen tongues into the same mixture and use that to carry it from the sanitizing solution to the erlenmeyer. Just a thought.
@tnastymcP That is a very complicated question - here's an oversimplified answer
; )
For low-gravity or even standard-gravity ales (anything lower than about 1.045 OG) you can pitch one pack of yeast directly into the wort and get good results. For higher gravity ales and all lagers, a yeast starter is the best practice. For more details, please visit our website!
Always wanted to order yeast from Northern Brewers and to try and make bread with it. could be yummy to use a yeast with an actual flavor profile instead of the normal mass produced stuff. Keep up the good work. Hummm Maybe instead of just yeast I should make some yummy liquid bread. All hail the beer

Do you need to make a starter with a yeast packet like that or can you just pitch it directly into the wort?

@NorthernBrewerTV
This is exactly why I told my girlfriend and relatives to buy me products from Northern Brewer for Christmas. Thanks!

Ugh. These videos are great, but the whole "homeless guy strumming a guitar music" is just awful. Mute.
