When I buy a Mac, I'm buying a computer better than Windows. How would I know this? Because I have a nice new HP Windows 7 desktop running right next to my MacBook. Not only did it cost more, but it runs slower than my 3 year old MacBook. Even my other desktop running on Linux is better than the dumb Windows.

you can put as much ram as you want in your build, the question is how much will your OS recognize. 32 bit OS's can have 3gb of ram, the rest will be wasted space, but it'll still work. 64 bit OS's can have 6gb of ram, except the rest won't be used...
