Fantasia is one of my favorite Disneys and a masterpiece but this is so different, so exciting. It's more wild than Disneys take on music. Bolero is one of my favorite music pieces and this gives me goosebumps whenever I see it.
5:01 - 5:22 I think this is where the Pixar animators got the inspiration for one of the Monsters Inc Employees/Scarers (the one that has its teeth brushed during the early montage when the monsters are going to meet their scare quota).
whenever anyone asks me stupid questions like "who came first? the chicken? or the egg?" I refer them to this...it's as good an explanation as any other :):)
So amazing, I love it. If you guys like this then you should watch Fantastic Planet if you haven't already. The whole movie is here on youtube! It's great, similar animation, and amazing music.
I first saw Allegro Non Troppo thirty years ago in a film class in college, and it was my favorite film of the course. (Lina Wertmüller's Seven Beauties came in a close second: outstanding!) It's one of my favorite films of all time. I actually like it better than Fantasia, and that's high praise indeed. It doesn't take itself as seriously and the musical selections are more to my liking.
Bellissimo! Altri tempi altre sensibilità, adesso questa Italia non esiste o se esiste non può parlare, sono tempi bui, molto. Grazie per averlo postato.
@MayasMoviebox : If it was ruled by artists it would defintely be different. :)
History has shown that human kind is not as smart and civilized as it states. I'm not very optimistic about human kind as well, but still have some hope that we might get better every day that passes.
@Anniyor Because many are lead to believe that doing so is done out of necessity- defending an idea, a nation, a religion, a race, etc., or- like any other species- securing its foothold in nature.
Whether or not it's justified is another thing entirely. Blatant antagonism and calling it evil, however, is somewhat infantile.
I`ve first watched this when i was about 4 or 5 years old.
I`ve kept it in my mind but until now I didn`t knew where it was from or who made this The only things I knew that the music is Bolero by Ravel and that there was some kind of ape which wandered together with a strange parade of creatures.
@MayasMoviebox@MayasMoviebox Bozzetto is a great mind, he once said "If music is beautiful and catchy, it is not very easy to forget it"...I would add that when visuals are so beautifull and bright it is difficult to forget them. I am glad I own (an australian!) dvd of this overlooked masterpiece indeed.

Holy shit, what did I just watch. Content is of the same kind as Pearl Jam's "Evolution". Makes me sad, makes me think, it's a bit disturbing.

This was a masterpiece i remember seing as a little kid on TV. I was fascinated with the animated version of Bolero's Ravel.
Thanks to the wonders of internet and technology I was finally able to retrieve it and share it with people...
If mankind is capable of creating so many good things, why is it so focused in harming itself and what sorrounds them?

@Anniyor : maybe, if the world were ruled by artists it could be a better place. Not sure, anyway. I'm not very optimistic about human kind.
Thanks for commenting :)
