so will my pub team get a FIFA grant to install sensors in the goalposts or have we just effectively created two different types of football, rich & poor??
Goal line technology? not until the companies developing the technology offer incentives in the form of bribes, bungs, back-handers, gifts and rewards to Blatter and the FIFA cronies, otherwise forget it. Come on, we all know if any company is serious about their products the only way to get it approved is to offer Blatter and his corrupt cronies big cash incentives, free lunches and possibly call-girls. No bribes no deals. See "Sepp Blatter - FIFA President - statement on goal-line technology"
waste of money that mean theyll have to have a rig in all sanctioned stadiums at both end of the goal lines cost is gonna be really high i say USE VID PLAYBACK...
Hmmmm instead of all that fansy shit why if the goal is doubtful or to make sure it was actually a goal then why don't they just watch a replay there and then and tell the ref it was a goal :S (like rugby kinda)
**assuming the sensor and supports of sensor add significant difference into the balls mass distribution to make it act like a solid sphere which its not so this is not 100% accurate obviously but it does demonstrate its effects on the spin of the ball.
Jabulani has aerondynamic flaws from irregular distribution of furrows on the sphere surface impairing erratic effec on fast forward spinning deceiving players and goalkeepers used to common balls that bear smooth surface. Elson Silva, PhD.
they should just put some device on the goalpost not on the ball and football doesn't need to be so strict sometimes people hope the refree don't see it lol.
@LYJManchesterUnited there needs to be something in the ball AND goal post because if its just the goal post then it would say GOAL if the goalie were to walk thru the net or a defender
@1FCBARCELONA1 it would take too much time to put a chip into the ball, fifa have enough money to put a chip in the post that only concedes a goal if a ROUND item is passed through the line mark

Now we just have to convince that old fart Blatter to adapt this into the game...
Or he can just get a heart attack and die and then we can finally choose a good FIFA president!

The winner won't have sensors in the ball, it will just be cameras all around.
newfagscanttrif0rce 9 months ago
Theres almost 100 Cameras watchin the game, when a ref is unsure about a decision.. he should make sure on a monitor

Official Weight & size of fifa balls:
mass ~ 0.450 kg
diameter ~ 0.7 m
Radius ~ 0.35 m
*Moment of Inertia:
Hollow sphere = (2/3)mR^2 = 0.03675 kg*m^2
(original ball)
**Solid sphere = (2/5)mR^2 = 0.02205 kg*m^2
(sensor ball)
*Moment of Inertia is a measure of an object's resistance to changes to its rotation.

This will change the moment of inertia of the ball..

I thought the easiest way to decide if a shot's gone in or not was to allow the refs to see a slower replay like they do in other sports..?

yeah but thats y they are being paid for isn't it?
mexag720 3 years ago
So they're being paid therefore they won't ever make mistakes?
Nice logic.

if that little sensor in the middle of the ball becomes even the slightest bit out of alignment then its a waste.
