quality tune quality new album and band , quality person . i too have listened to richard`s early verve stuff in 92 -95 and loved it .suppose there is always a deepness to his music and lyrics or darkness whatever ........ im just glad he aint hung his boots up 20 yrs in the idustry and still moving forward in his own way . Anyway ive lived in Wigan no wonder he was depressed lol seriously its a strange old town .....northern soul is my fav album ta rpa you inspire me
UNOS is a five star album. His best since Alone with Everybody. And I'm not one of those fans who think everything the artist do is a masterpiece. I agree with a lot of people, Human Conditions has two or three good songs and the rest is so boring. But in his new album Richard Ashcroft has achieved a creative peak, every track is a killer or at least very good, and I hope he will continue like this in the future.
I like this but its very similar to the journey..Ive been a fan since storm in heaven but its not blind faith like many who saying genuis RA is this and that.most of these fans only came during urban hymns missing the verve at their peak.he is one of my favs but not everything is brilliant.i hated human condition.UNOS album sounds forced an idea that was good in theory.RA trying 2 hard 2be soul multicultural\national muso when he should be himself.you get what I mean?
@angelfly41 i agree. i am from the states and the verve didn't really get any airtime over here until urban hymns came out. i had been listening to them for a few years before but only b/c i read nme. not because of exposure over here. urban hymns was okay but not their, or his, best. i do like this new stuff and it's cool that he's constantly trying to reinvent himself, unlike mr. gallagher, that everyone compares him to. is this new band based in england or the us?
How many references to Verve songs is he including?! In this song "Oh it is Bitter, I know it is Sweet"
In "This Thing called life" He says 'Foolish pride', from Slide Away by The Verve and in the same song he puts in 'You gotta learn the Drugs Don't really work"
é como ele ja dizia ...nao podemos definir nosso som ...de q é possivel vc ser 1 milhao d epessoas diferentes de um dia para outro e isso ai...Ashcroft
Its a f'ckin cracker of a tune!!! Saw them lasty night in Paris and they rocked!! This is a thousand times better than the last Verve album!! Ashcroft is back and this is some of the best stuff he has ever done!! Wake up people and listen!! Lyrical genius!
It has a strong New York hip hop feel to it. You can hear Ashcroft-type music in their as well tho. Like others have said I hope he sings on some songs coz hes the best singer i know of.
best tune out on the waves in ages for sure - these fluid edge sounds from the master of clear 3rd eye conscious awareness & radiant musical genius voice himself! u continue to amaze! blazing new sound trails as always - lyrically waking us up to 'bigger & bolder' & what's really going on in life around here - move your body, mind, soul & spirit into sphinx light mystery school clairvoyance. C'mon people! RPA, You- awesome rock of inspiration on all levels! UNofS band rocks vast...
See Rich, is back ( this months Q , ) sounding as arrogant as ever..god love him..cant wait for the album, roll on manchester, why, do people still compare Richs, solo work with The Verve, ive loved both for years,( since 92 ) there two different things, thank god for both i say, if it wasent for them and the Roses, my life would have been a lot bloody worse off...and no, he didnt use the reunion for his own selfish gain, thats b****x... but hey , we got Glasto, and Forth... lol
@CosmosLoyal: Technically the break up was due to the fact he was still under contract to do a forth solo album. He didn't do a solo album by choice but more or less because Parlaphone wanted him too. I mean there were other complications in the group, there always has been, but I totally believe that if he wasn't signed to do a forth album they would still be together.
was thinking about this tune all day after hearing it last night. i never exspected this but its cool as f u k. rembember bob d changed his style and hes a legend.
WOW, I never expected something like this from Richard. I am slowly getting into this song, I'm glad that Richard is doing something which he hasn't done before!
@stoneroses22 well said , its a new direction, im liking it, and im waiting to hear this live in june...a lot of people say its got that Brownie feel to it, but they are both their own people, yeah roll on june, i get to see them both live..
@ABITTERSWEETGIRL Yeh i've enjoyed both this and 'Are You Ready'.' Thats what makes both Ashcroft and Brownie unique, they're willing to make music out of their comfort zone, not giving a toss about the critics.
@macviteee Lol, no. He can do what he wants, that's fine by me. But I'm just saying I don't like the look of his new band and all this 'multicultural' stuff
