i am asian and y shud i care for any of this, but sometimes people must see that prouds only show their best cosplayers regarding the one uchihahelena put on the 1st part. and westerners never been bad in cosplaying such as the one that started in the 2nd part of the video prouds just wanted to show some pride that were asians and we own cosplying xD

Asians actually put some effort into making themselves look like the character they cosplay , that's why they are better. Usually the americans just think "Oh,i am like,so beautiful,i totally DON'T need any make up" .Wrong. I don't care if you are miss world 2011 , you have to put the right make up to bring this feeling,that your eyes are animated,choose clothes the RIGHT size and,for the love of God,style your frickin' hair. Put at least some effort,and the result will be stunning.

Even further in videogames, resident evil series the only asian so far is Ada. Oh and let's not forget Black butler, a series that takes place in victorian ENGLAND another western dominated cast. Besides, it's all about the time and effort you put into your cosplay not your race.

I appreciate the sentiment in the video. I think it is a worthwhile cause to point out that Asian & Western cosplayers hold equal merit. I do however think it is unfair to post photos of people who are chubby, crossplaying, or not gorgeous, and say that they are people who "shouldn't" cosplay. Also not to mention. All of those photos Proud shows are of the same artistic style. They are CLEARLY shopped. They have the same lighting which brightens the face and hides any shape and shading the curves of their face may make. Also, a lot of girls in Asia wear eyelid tape and circle lenses to make this so called almond shape eye.

I have seen good cosplays from all skin colors of people. Being asian doesn't automatically make you a good cosplayer. It takes dedication, skill, and talent. Asians can and have done it well and so have other races. I think the problem some people have is that they know cosplay originated in Japan. In their minds Japan, and maybe asians in general, are the only ones "allowed" to cosplay. I recommend visiting the gallery of cosplay.com. Cosplayers all around the world post there.

As a person who loves to create, cosplay is the most amazing opportunity ever. You get to make things for a purpose and show off your skills in a world where most of us will never get to do this as a living. It also gives you the chance to be a celebrity for a bit ^.^ which I don't think should be exclusive to any race, gender, or body type. It's all about the skill of the cosplayer. My first con was full of fun, support, free hugs, love, and so many good diverse cosplayers. Why ruin that?

I do not understand why westerners keep insisting anime/game characters are white? I have watched many interviews in which they clearly state that most of the characters are not caucasian but are rather race-less or are based off of Asian actors/musicians.. Just because the characters have blue/orange/red/green/blonde hair does not make them white. It would be boring if all of the characters looked the same. It is made up. Fictional. So they can look however they want.

I mean look at Hetalia most of the cast is western anyway. I mean there are only a few Asian nations in the series and it doesn't stop there. I appreciate the sentiment in the video. I think it is a worthwhile cause to point out that Asian & Western cosplayers hold equal merit. I do however think it is unfair to post photos of people who are chubby, crossplaying, or not gorgeous, and say that they are people who "shouldn't" cosplay. The spirit of cosplay is that anyone with the desire to do it should be able to. I appreciate your intentions but I do not think it is right to point to anyone and say they shouldn't cosplay. Thanks

Also not to mention. All of those photos Proud shows are of the same artistic style. They are CLEARLY shopped. They have the same lighting which brightens the face and hides any shape and shading the curves of their face may make. Also, a lot of girls in Asia wear eyelid tape and circle lenses to make this so called almond shape eye.

Agreed! And also, for PTBA's logic; what if an Asian cosplays a character like, for example: Edward from Fullmetal Alchemist, Steffauri from By Daybreak, or Ciel from Black Butler. Drawn the EXACT same way as the ANIME that has it's characters based in JAPAN!

I have seen good cosplays from all skin colors of people. Being asian doesn't automatically make you a good cosplayer. It takes dedication, skill, and talent. Asians can and have done it well and so have other races. I think the problem some people have is that they know cosplay originated in Japan. In their minds Japan, and maybe asians in general, are the only ones "allowed" to cosplay. I recommend visiting the gallery of cosplay.com. Cosplayers all around the world post there.

As a person who loves to create, cosplay is the most amazing opportunity ever. You get to make things for a purpose and show off your skills in a world where most of us will never get to do this as a living. It also gives you the chance to be a celebrity for a bit ^.^ which I don't think should be exclusive to any race, gender, or body type. It's all about the skill of the cosplayer. My first con was full of fun, support, free hugs, love, and so many good diverse cosplayers. Why ruin that?

I am Asian and I think everyone should have the right to cosplay.
It is not WESTERN who CANNOT cosplay, but the people who is NOT SUTIBLE for cosplay.
I agree with some point of ProudToBeAsian. A cosplayer should have good body proportion so that to cos a character in a better way. So from this clip we can see that some of the western also have good proportion to cosplay!

the only time i saw a westerner with the best cosplays i've seen is lalasosu3/phantomhiveservice. His sebastian cosplay especially. It's the best one i've ever seen... Yeah, I think cosplay should be about having fun. As long as the anime companies or mangakas aren't complaining for people "ruining their characters", I don't see why anyone else should.

I dont believe anime characters are based on any 1 particular race at all, I mean, Come on, generally the facial structure of an anime character is most like that of an asian but at the same time I know quite a few white people who can pull it off just as well as for the body structure I can tell you one thing, It's rare to find an asian with more than a handful'when it comes to breast sizes and we all know alot of anime girls have large breasts proving anime chars. arent based solely on asians

I do not understand why westerners keep insisting anime/game characters are white? I have watched many interviews in which they clearly state that most of the characters are not caucasian but are rather race-less or are based off of Asian actors/musicians.. Just because the characters have blue/orange/red/green/blonde hair does not make them white. It would be boring if all of the characters looked the same. It is made up. Fictional. So they can look however they want.

@xchrissieGOREx its all based on opinion. most westerners think that because a lot of anime is actually based off of western people (such as the looks). there are all diff types of animes who base their characters on diff races, not just japanese. but true they are fictional so its really not a big deal :p

I agree. Half asian here, but also a proud american. I think someone should be honored when an outsider wants to share your culture, and cosplay is just for fun. Not to mention I've seen amazing cosplayers from all differen't races and nations. That racist pig gets under my skin BAD. Not to mention most of his "Perfect Cosplay" pictures have either been photoshoped and/or the girl is wearing pouds of make up + circle lenses + extensions, etc.
